Creep ageing behaviour assisted by electropulsing under different stresses for al−cu−li alloy

The influence of electropulsing on the creep behaviour,strength,and microstructure of an al−cu−li alloy during creep ageing was *** assisted creep ageing(ECA)and conventional creep ageing(CCA)were carried out under various stress levels and time *** electropulsing results in a noteworthy change of creep behaviour,including a variation in creep curves,an increased creep rate in early stage,and an improved creep *** ECA specimen experiences a shorter time to the peak strength,and an increase in elongation by~17.4% without loss of the peak-aged strength compared with CCA *** ultrafine nano-size subgrains are observed to form under electropulsing,which can result in an increased creep strain by increasing grain-boundary *** enhancement of both dislocation interactions and solute diffusion under electropulsing is considered as a primary cause of disappearance of a platform stage during early creep *** of T1 precipitates around the grain boundary are observed in the peak ECA sample,resulting in an occurrence of transgranular fracture,which is further responsible for an increased elongation of the ECA specimen.

Strengthening mechanism of T8-aged al-cu-li alloy with increased pre-deformation

The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of a T8-aged al-cu-li alloy with increased pre-deformation(0-15%) were investigated,revealing the microstructure-strength relationship and the intrinsic strengthening *** results show that increasing the pre-deformation levels remarkably improves the strength of the alloy but deteriorates its *** introduced by pre-deformation effectively suppress the formation of Guinier-Preston(GP) zones and provide more nucleation sites for T1 *** leads to more intensive and finer T1 precipitates in the samples with higher pre-deformation ***,the enhanced precipitation of T1 precipitates and inhibited formation of GP zones cause the decreases in number and sizes of θ′ *** quantitative descriptions of the strength contributions from different strengthening mechanisms reveal that strengthening contributions from T1 and θ′ precipitates decrease with increasing *** reduced diameters of T1 precipitates are primarily responsible for their weakened strengthening ***,the improved strength of the T8-aged al-cu-li alloy is mainly attributed to the stronger strain hardening from the increased pre-deformation levels.

An al−3.6cu−1li alloy was subjected to room temperature rolling and cryorolling to investigate their effects on microstructure evolution and mechanical *** microstructure and aging characteristics of the room temperature-rolled and the cryorolled alloys with 70%and 90%of thickness reductions were studied by microstructure analysis and mechanical *** samples subjected to cryorolling with 90%of thickness reduction have high strength and good *** is mainly due to the inhibition of dynamic recovery and the accumulation of high-density dislocations in cryorolled *** addition,the artificial aging reveals that the temperature at which peak hardness is attained is inversely proportional to the deformation amount and directly proportional to the rolling ***,bright field images of cryorolled samples after aging indicate the existence of T1(al2culi)*** suggests that the high stored strain energy enhances the aging kinetics of the alloy,which further promotes the nucleation of T1 phases.

Corrosion behavior of 2A97 al-cu-li alloys in different thermomechanical conditions by quasi-in-situ analysis

As a promising material in the aircraft industry,2A97 al-cu-li alloy exhibits high corrosion susceptibility that may limit its *** the present work,to illustrate the influences of precipitate and grain-stored energy on localized corrosion evolution in 2A97 al-cu-li alloy,cold working and artificial aging were carried out to produce 2A97 al-cu-li alloys under different thermomechanical ***-in-situ analysis,traditional immersion test and electrochemical measurement were then conducted to examine the corrosion behavior of 2A97 *** is revealed that precipitate significantly affects cu enrichment at corrosion fronts,which determines corrosion susceptibility of alloys,whereas grain-stored energy distribution is closely associated with localized corrosion *** is also indicated that quasi-in-situ analysis exhibits a consistent corrosion evolution with traditional immersion tests,which is regarded as a proper method to explore localized corrosion mechanisms by providing local microstructural information with enhanced time and spatial resolutions.

Synergistic effect of orientation and temperature on slip behavior and precipitation behavior of al−cu−li single crystals

The slip behavior and precipitation behavior of four al−cu−li single crystals with varying orientations at different temperatures were investigated using electron backscattering diffraction(EBSD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The maximum differences in yield strength and ductility of the single crystals at room temperature are 41.6%and 14.7%,*** indicates that the mechanical properties are strongly influenced by the crystal ***,grains with varying orientations exhibit distinct slip characteristics,including slip homogenization,slip localization,and multiple *** single crystal SC1,slip localization primarily contributes to its inferior ductility compared to other ***,during deformation at 250℃,the distinct morphology and distribution of precipitates in the crystals are also correlated with orientation,which causes the increase in the maximum elongation difference to 20.8%in all selected single ***,SC1,with a precipitate volume fraction of 2.65%,exhibits more severe slip localization compared to room temperature conditions,while SC2,with a precipitate volume fraction of 4.79%,demonstrates cross-slip characteristics,significantly enhancing the plastic deformation capacity of the al−cu−li alloy.
