Particle erosion of C/C-SiC composites with different al addition in reactive melt infiltrated Si

Particle erosion of C/C-SiC composites prepared by reactive melt infiltration with different al addition was studied by gas-entrained solid particle impingement ***,EDS and XRD were performed to analyze the composites before and after *** results indicate that a U shape relationship curve presents between the erosion rates and al content,and the lowest erosion rate occurs at 40 wt%*** for the important influence of compactness,the increasing soft al mixed with reactive SiC,namely the mixture located between carbon and residual Si also,plays a key role in the erosion of the C/C-SiC composites through crack deflection,plastic deformation and bonding cracked Si.

Precipitation evolution and properties of Cu-15Ni-8Sn alloys via al microalloying during ageing

Studies have shown that microalloying Cu-Ni-Sn alloys using al inhibits discontinuous precipitation reactions;however,the mechanism has not been investigated ***,this study explored the properties and precipitation evolution of Cu-15Ni-8Sn alloys without and with 1 wt%al（Cu-15Ni-8Sn-1al） during ageing at 500℃ through X-ray diffraction （XRD）,scanning electron microscopy and high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron *** results revealed that in Cu-15Ni-8Sn alloy,DO22ordering first occurred after spinodal decomposition,subsequently transitioning to an L12ordering phase,during which the discontinuous precipitates gradually nucleated at the grain boundaries and formed *** alloy hardness increased sharply with ordering and then decreased rapidly after reaching its peak value,due to the dominance of the discontinuous precipitation ***,the DO22ordered phase did not appear during the ageing of Cu-15Ni-8Sn-1al alloy,and a Ni3(alx,Sn1-x) intermetallic compound with L12structure was formed,consuming Ni and Sn atoms,thereby significantly suppressing the discontinuous precipitation reaction and improving the stability during prolonged *** tensile strength （yield strength） of Cu-15Ni-8Sn and Cu-15Ni-8Sn-1al alloys at peak hardness were 855 （755） and 936 MPa （892 MPa）,respectively,and their main strengthening mechanisms were solid solution strengthening and precipitation *** addition of 1 wt% al effectively improved the precipitation strengthening effect of Cu-Ni-Sn alloys but severely decreased the ductility.

Effect of al on microstructure and mechanical properties of cast CrCoNi medium-entropy alloy

Cast CrCoNiAIx （x=0-1.2） medium-entropy alloys （MEAs） were produced by arc melting and flip cast to investigate the alloying effect of AI addition on the microstructure, phase constituent and mechanical properties. The crystal structure changes from an initial face-centered cubic （FCC） to duplex FCC and body-centered cubic （BCC） and finally a single BCC with increasing AI content. In the duplex region, FCC and BCC phases form under a eutectic reaction in the interdendrite region. In the single BCC region, the dendrites transform to ordered B2 and disordered A2 BCC phases resulting from spinodal decomposition. Corresponding to their phase constituents, yield strength increases accompanied with an elongation reduction with increasing AI addition. A very interesting phenomenon of very weak ordered FCC （001） spots appearing in AI-0.4 alloy was observed, indicating a local ordering of FCC phase. The changes of fracture surfaces after the tensile deformation are also corresponding to the variations in mechanical properties.

Microstructure and transformation behavior of Ni_(54)Mn_(25)Ga_(15)al_6 high-temperature shape memory alloy

The microstructure, martensitic transformation behavior, mechanical properties and shape memory effect of Ni54Mn25Ga15al6 high-temperature shape memory alloy were investigated. By comparing with the Ni54Mn25Ga21 alloy, the effect of al addition on the properties of Ni-Mn-Ga alloys was analyzed. The results show that the Ni54Mn25Ga15al6 alloy has a single-phase tetragonal non-modulated martensite structure with lamellar twins. The martensitic transformation start temperature of this alloy is up to 190 ℃, displaying the promising application as a high-temperature shape memory alloy. al addition in Ni-Mn-Ga alloy can decrease the martensitic transformation temperatures due to the effect of size factor and improve the strength and plasticity. However, the shape memory effect is reduced remarkably with the al addition.
