＜正＞adopt program （henceforth referred to as AP） is a system in which citizens and self-governing bodies make an agreement and manage public facilities. Citizens become foster parents of roads etc., and carry out activities such as cleaning, weeding out, planting roadside trees and caring them. Self-governing bodies take roles of providing cleaning tools, collecting garbage, posting signboards that bear the names of foster parents and subscribing to personal accident insurance. Although private corporations are actively participating in AP in Japan, little has been known about the consciousness of participating employees and effects of AP. So, in this study, in order to examine the effects of AP introduction to corporations, we conducted questionnaire surveys to participating employees and results were analyzed. The analytical method used is covariance structural analysis, which is a kind of multivariate analysis. As a result of the analysis, the followings have come into light: 1. Participants evaluate AP using the two factors: "effects of AP introduction" and "volunteer spirit". 2. Posting signboards reduce garbage, increase participants’ eagerness and contribute largely to PR of the activity. The order in terms of the magnitude of effectiveness due to posting signboards is "PR effects of activity" ＞ "effects of eagerness improvement" ＞ "garbage reduction". 3. In order to increase volunteer spirit, the word "AP" should be made well-known to the participants, and remuneration should not be paid. 4. The results show that participants can feel the effects of AP introduction, and thanks to the rise in their volunteer spirit, they want to continue beautification activities. Given the above results, effects of AP introduction to environment beautification activities of private corporations were confirmed.
