Introduction SARS-CoV-2 vaccination is an effective means to prevent severe illness and death due to SARS-CoV-2 infection[1].Vaccine safety has been carefully monitored to be sure that the benefit outweighs the risk of adverse events(AEs).Common AEs of the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine,for example,include fatigue(45%),headache(40%),and chills(28%)after the first administration in accordance with the adult phase Ⅲ clinical trial[1].

To investigate whether the administration frequency of parathyroid hormone(PTH) is associated with the development of cortical porosity, this study established 15 dosage regimens of teriparatide [human PTH(1–34), TPTD] with four distinct concentrations and four distinct administration frequencies of TPTD to 16-week-old ovariectomized rats. Our analyses demonstrated that the bone mineral density, mechanical properties, and bone turnover were associated with the total amount of TPTD administered. Our observations further revealed that the cortical porosity was markedly developed as a result of an increased administration frequency with a lower concentration of total TPTD administration in our setting, although the highest concentration also induced cortical porosity. Deconvolution fluorescence tiling imaging on calcein-labeled undecalcified bone sections also demonstrated the development of cortical porosity to be closely associated with the bone site where periosteal bone formation took place. This site-specific cortical porosity involved intracortical bone resorption and an increased number and proximity of osteocytic lacunae,occasionally causing fused lacunae. Taken together, these findings suggested the involvement of local distinctions in the rate of bone growth that may be related to the site-specific mechanical properties in the development of cortical porosity induced by frequent and/or high doses of TPTD.

Neutrophil peptide 1 belongs to a family of peptides involved in innate immunity. Continuous intramuscular injection of neutrophil peptide 1 can promote the regeneration of peripheral nerves, but clinical application in this manner is not convenient. To this end, the effects of a single intraoperative administration of neutrophil peptide 1 on peripheral nerve regeneration were experimentally observed. A rat model of sciatic nerve crush injury was established using the clamp method. After model establishment, a normal saline group and a neutrophil peptide 1 group were injected with a single dose of normal saline or 10 μg/mL neutrophil peptide 1, respectively. A sham group, without sciatic nerve crush was also prepared as a control. Sciatic nerve function tests, neuroelectrophysiological tests, and hematoxylin-eosin staining showed that the nerve conduction velocity, sciatic functional index, and tibialis anterior muscle fiber cross-sectional area were better in the neutrophil peptide 1 group than in the normal saline group at 4 weeks after surgery. At 4 and 8 weeks after surgery, there were no differences in the wet weight of the tibialis anterior muscle between the neutrophil peptide 1 and saline groups. Histological staining of the sciatic nerve showed no significant differences in the number of myelinated nerve fibers or the axon cross-sectional area between the neutrophil peptide 1 and normal saline groups. The above data confirmed that a single dose of neutrophil peptide 1 during surgery can promote the recovery of neurological function 4 weeks after sciatic nerve injury. All the experiments were approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of Peking University People's Hospital, China(approval No. 2015-50) on December 9, 2015.

Background:Recent evidence has shown that prophylactic antibiotic treatment in patients with acute pancreatitis is not associated with a significant decrease in mortality or *** use and efficacy of prophylactic antibiotic treatment in acute pancreatitis remain *** meta-analysis was conducted to assess whether antibiotic prophylaxis is beneficial in patients with acute ***:We searched randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of prophylactic use of antibiotics using Medline(PubMed),Embase,the Cochrane Library,and Web of *** data were analyzed using Review Manager 5.3 *** performed pooled analyses for infected pancreatic necrosis,mortality,surgical intervention,and non-pancreatic *** ratios(ORs)from each trial were pooled using a random or fixed effects model,depending on the heterogeneity of the included ***-group analysis or sensitivity analysis was conducted to explore potential sources of heterogeneity,when ***:Totally,11 RCTs involving 747 participants were included,with an intervention group(prophylactic use of antibiotics,n=376)and control group(n=371).No significant differences were found regarding antibiotic prophylaxis with respect to incidence of infected pancreatic necrosis(OR,0.74;95%confidence interval[CI],0.50–1.09;P=0.13),surgical intervention(OR,0.92;95%CI,0.62–1.38;P=0.70),and morality(OR,0.71;95%CI,0.44–1.15;P=0.16).However,antibiotic prophylaxis was associated with a statistically significant reduction in the incidence of non-pancreatic infection(OR,0.59;95%CI,0.42–0.84;P=0.004).Conclusions:Prophylactic antibiotics can reduce the incidence of non-pancreatic infection in patients with AP.

Objective: Fluid therapy is one of the key components of perioperative management. However, evidence of intraoperative fluid(IOF) administration affecting clinical outcomes following McKeown esophagogastrectomy remains limited. This study investigated the impact of IOF on clinical outcomes after McKeown ***: Patients who underwent McKeown esophagogastrectomy between July 2013 and July 2016 were identified. Preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative variables for each eligible patient were retrospectively collected from our electronic medical records and anesthetic records. IOF rates were determined and their relationships to postoperative clinical outcomes were ***: A total of 546 patients were enrolled in the analysis. The median IOF rate was 8.87 mL/kg/h. We divided the patients into two groups: a low fluid volume group(LFVG administration on clinical outcomes in patients undergoing McKeown esophagogastrectomy was identified. Further high-quality studies examining the influence of IOF administration on clinical outcomes following McKeown esophagogastrectomy are still needed.
