As a novel type of foundation in beach and shallow sea, the bucket structure is especially suitable for complex conditions such as soft clay ground and the worse types of sea environments. In this paper, the bearing capacity of a multi-bucket structure is studied by experiments with a single bucket and four-bucket foundation in a saturated sand layer. Based on the experimental data and numerical analysis results, the bearing capacity behavior and the bucket group effect are compared and analyzed. Furthermore, some influential factors, such as the soil type, the ratio of length to diameter L/D, the ratio of the bucket spacing to the bucket diameter S/D, and the bucket number are introduced and their effects on the multi-bucket structural capacity are investigated. The vertical static capacity adjustment factor is introduced to evaluate the bucket group effects of the multi-bucket foundation.

Randomised controlled trials(RCTs) are gold standard in the evaluation of treatment efficacy in medical investigations, only if well designed and implemented. Till date, distorted views and misapplications of statistical procedures involved in RCTs are still in practice. Hence, clarification of concepts and acceptable practices related to certain statistical issues involved in the design, conduct and reporting of randomised controlled trials is needed. This narrative synthesis aimed at providing succinct but clear information on the concepts and practices of selected statistical issues in RCTs to inform correct applications. The use of tests of significance is no longer acceptable as means to compare baseline similarity between treatment groups and in determining which covariate(s) should be included in the model for adjustment. Distribution of baseline attributes simply presented in tabular form is however, rather preferred. Regarding covariate selection, such approach that makes use of information on the degree of correlation between the covariate(s) and the outcome variable is more in tandem with statistical principle(s) than that based on tests of significance. Stratification and minimisation are not alternatives to covariate adjusted analysis; in fact they establish the need for one. Intention-totreat is the preferred approach for the evaluation of primary outcome measures and researchers have responsibility to report whether or not the procedure was followed. A major use of results from subgroup analysis is to generate hypothesis for future clinical trials. Since RCTs are gold standard in the comparison of medical interventions, researchers cannot afford the practices of distorted allocation or statistical procedures in this all important experimental design method.

Cellulose nanocrystals(CNCs)can self-assemble in suspension to form chiral cholesteric structure of liquid crystal with unique birefringence phenomena,and the structural parameters strongly depend upon the aspect ratio,surface structure,and physicochemical properties of CNC,along with suspension media.Many attempts have been carried out to keep this cholesteric structure in solid state via removing solvent,such as slower solvent-evaporation,rapid vacuum-filtration,and spin-casting under centrifugal force.The solid-state iridescence of the cholesteric CNC arrays has been used as structural color,and showed a great potential for the coding and securing of optical information.Moreover,to promote practical applications of such structural iridescence,the cholesteric CNC arrays have been embedded into many kinds of substrates via in-situ reaction of monomers or physical blending with polymers.However,this kind of structural iridescences may lead to misreading information.The uniaxial-orientation assembly of CNC has thus been proposed via regulating external force fields of CNC self-assembly,and successfully achieved nanoparticle assembly-induced solid-state monochrome emission based on enhanced inelastic collision theory of CNC dipoles and photons.This method can eliminate the chiral arrangement of CNC and the corresponding iridescence,and the structural monochromaticity can contribute to enhancing the accuracy of optical information.Overall,the CNC can be controllably assembled as the ordered arrays in solid state and presented structural color,and support optical anti-counterfeiting strategies different from the fluorescent technologies.

To solve the problem that traditional long baseline（LBL） positioning system is easily affected by severe sound speed varying results in low calibration precision, low efficiency and inconsistent position using different references, we propose a high precision array calibration method. We use distances between beacons to build error adjustment model. This model improves the calibration performance of traditional calibration method. The theory shows this method can achieve equal calibration precision with distance measurement precision in horizon. This method can improve the calibration efficiency, solve position ambiguity and achieve high precision especially in deep ocean. The shallow water experiment shows this method has millimeter calibration precision which is equal to distance measurement error. The calibration precision improves from centimeter to millimeter compared to traditional calibration method.The method also decreases the operation complexity. The localized positions are more close to GPS compared to traditional method, which has great application values.
