To quantify the resistance of different co-occurring species to drought and osmotic stress (salinity stress), plant water (Ψ) and osmotic (Ψp) potentials were measured during the dry season. We applied a pressure chamber and cryoscopy to measure Ψ and Ψp, respectively. The species revealed a wide range of responses to water stress (-0.83 to -5.8 MPa) and osmotic stress (-1.3 to -3.2 MPa) and not all plants fit closely into one or the other category. Evergreen species tended to have lower Ψ than deciduous species. Notably, Dobera glabra, well known as drought indicator tree in the region, showed the lowest Ψ (up to -5.8 MPa) and Ψp (-3.2 MPa). This indicates its outstanding drought and osmotic stress tolerance and explains its ability to thrive in drought prone areas and years. The recent expansion of A. oerfota and A. mellifera in the study area could be related to their tolerance of osmotic stress, which may imply a trend of soil salinization. The division of plant responses into categories or strategies can be valuable aid to understanding long-term plant survival and distribution, monitor site condition and predict the direction of future changes.

English education in China was long dominated by traditional teaching methods focusing on grammatical *** spite of the efforts made,studies have revealed that communicative language teaching(CLT)has encountered *** inte?grative literature review is employed to explore the constraining factors that hinder CLT practices,aiming to provide possible ped?agogical approaches that could be taken to better accommodate CLT in the context of Chinese secondary *** study finds that the pedagogical approach that fits in Chinese context have the following characteristics:combining inductive grammar learning with deductive grammar learning;with switches between learner-centeredness and teacher-centeredness;giving the same emphasis to both linguistic accuracy and fluency;giving teachers more freedom and autonomy.

In order to improve the adaptability of the tracked vehicle in the road and strengthen the grip of the tracked vehicle, a track surface adaptive mechanism was provided. In theory, it has been proved practically. Meanwhile, RecurDyn, which is a multi-body kinematics software, was used to build a multi-body soft hybrid model, based on structure, elasticity, linear damping adaptive tracked vehicle;meanwhile the model was used to carry on the kinematics simulation. Through the comparison between simulated motion trail and that of traditional motion trail, this paper analyzed the deviation of the motion trail and also simulated the motion trail of the warped surface so as to test the adaptive ability of the mechanism. According to the results, the adaptive mechanism was equipped with great surface adaptability. It can also adapt to the complex warped surface, and enjoy a damping effect.

We have compared 142 adult men and women of various ages, grouped by professional occupation, all the occupations involving local muscular performance. We studied heart reactions and central nervous system reactions to local muscular performance done until fatigue set in. The results suggested that adaptive body changes had a number of shared signs, namely, tachycardia, hypertension, and increased statistical figures of the heart rhythm, which were indicative of tension in central regulatory mechanisms of the heart.

A study on liver mitochondria respiration and protein synthesis in cold adapted rats

Mitochondria were isolated from normal and cold adapted rat *** respiratory func-tion of mitochondria in rat livers,including ADP:O ratio(P/O)and the respiratory control ratio(RCR),was determined by oxygen electrode method,The protein synthesis in mitochondria wasstudied by observing the incorporation of[~3H]-Leucine into *** gelelectrophoresis was carried out to detect the changes of the inner membrane *** was shownthat the P/O and RCR decreased in cold adapted rats in the 2nd and 4th weeks and returned tothe control level in the 6th week,the protein synthesis of mitochondria decreased significantly incold adapted rats in 1,2 and 4 weeks;the electrophoretic pattern of the inner membrane proteinsin mitochondria from cold adapted rat livers revealed some new bands.

While translating the source language, one is inevitably introducing the culture. Approaches to culture involved in translation may be divided into two different methods： alienation （SL-culture oriented） and adaptation （TL-culture oriented）. Idioms with rich national characteristics and specific linguistic features are called ＂concentrated culture＂. Therefore in idiom translation, there exist to some extent linguistic untranslatability and cultural untranslatability. In this paper, the author proposes to discuss the translatability of idioms and different approaches in English-Chinese/Chinese-English idiom translation.
