In this paper,the design problem of sliding mode observer is addressed for a class of linear continuous-time systems with actuator faults and limited data communication.A new descriptor sliding mode observer approach is developed to solve this design issue,where a discontinuous input is constructed to reject actuator *** is proved that the lower bound on the density of the quantizer is 1/3,under which the quantization errors could be compensated completely by the switching term of the *** on the proposed observer method,the system state vector can effectively track the state estimator and quantization errors ***,a practical example is provided to show the effectiveness of the presented observer design method.

This paper presents design of an self contained actuators unit in wide area damping control of power system in stabilizing system response for both nominal system condition and during actuator *** it is presented that use of multiple actuators in wide area control aid in improving damping in power system.A wide area damping controller feeding multiple actuators to satisfy multiple objectives in wide area damping control of power system is *** of infinity norm of closed loop transfer function of power system with wide area controller in feedback path&closed loop poles placement techniques are used in controller *** a reconfigurable control on the lines of fault hiding principle is added to the controller design to maintain system damping to pre-fault level in case of actuator faults.A reconfiguration component(RC)is activated on occurrence of actuator fault thereby reconfiguring system dynamics and redistributing wide area control signal among remaining active *** together with remaining active actuators and under same wide area damping controller maintains system damping to pre-fault level thereby preserving system dynamic *** the reconfigurable control design presented here no new actuators outside the unit of actuators designed for wide area damping control is *** makes for an self contained actuators unit in wide area damping control of power system both for nominal system condition and for system affected by actuator faults.A two area power system model is considered here for demonstrating effectiveness of designed robust damping controller with multiple outputs feeding multiple actuators in wide area control and illustrating the idea of self contained actuators unit for maintaining system damping in case of actuator faults.

A actuator fault estimation algorithm based on adaptive iterative learning is proposed for a class of nonlinear periodic systems with actuator fault and ***,the proposed method designs a state observer and a fault estimator based on adaptive iterative *** Lyapunov stability theory and the optimization theory are employed to prove the convergence of the *** the LMI toolbox is utilized to obtain the results of the observer gain matrix and fault estimator parameter *** method combines the iterative learning strategy with the adaptive algorithm,and utilizes not only the state error signals of the last iteration learning,but also the output error signals of this *** makes the estimated fault approximate to the real fault gradually and realizes the accurate estimation of the time-varying fault and the intermittent ***,the validity and accuracy of the proposed method are verified by the simulation of a single-link robotic arm mold.

This paper presents a robust adaptive fault estimation design method to solve the problem of actuator fault estimation for CCBII Braking System with disturbances and model uncertainties. The proposed robust adaptive fault estimator which is based on an adaptive observer can improve the speed of fault estimation. By transforming the system model into a special coordinate basis（SCB） form, we can structure the desired observer. This transformation can achieve a decoupling between the fault estimates and the disturbances. As a result, the conventional adaptive observer is improved to enhance the speed of fault estimation through this decoupling. Simulation experiments of CCBII braking system are given to validate the effectiveness of the fault detection method.

Firstly, an adaptive sliding mode fault tolerant controller is designed for the satellite attitude control system aiming at unnormal outputs of control torques because of actuator fault, and the stability of the closed-loop system is analyzed by Lyapunov method. On this basis, considering the coincidence of the actuator fault and the inertial sensor fault with the unknowable attitude angular velocity of the satellite, corresponding fault tolerant controller is presented and the stability of the closed-loop system is analyzed. Finally, the numerical simulation results verify the effectiveness of the designed fault tolerant controller.

The L∞ performance analysis problem for a class of singular Lipschitz systems in the presence of both actuator saturation and actuator fault is studied in this paper. Different from the previous result where the designed controller is of saturation avoidance form, a saturation allowance criterion is established to ensure the closed-loop system regular and impulse-free as well as the existence and uniqueness of the solution under actuator saturation and fault. It is shown that no information about the initial state is needed in such a case. The maximal disturbances tolerance capability and the disturbance rejection capacity can be obtained within the framework of the optimization problems with convex constraints. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper proposes an active fault tolerant attitude control method for a faulty rigid spacecraft. The proposed scheme solves the problem of fault tolerant controller design in the presence of actuator loss of effectiveness(LOE) fault and actuator saturation constraint. A sliding mode fault estimation observer is designed for the faulty attitude systems of rigid spacecraft to get the estimated value of the actuator loss of effectiveness fault. Then, an active fault tolerant controller is developed by using slide model control scheme, and it could guarantee that the closed loop faulty attitude systems is asymptotical stable under the proposed fault tolerant controller. Finally, simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In this paper, an adaptive fault compensation scheme is investigated for aircraft flight systems in the presence of non-measurable rate on the actuator second-order dynamics. The proposed fault compensation scheme is a combination between multiple model and adaptive reconfiguration control. By means of the designed method, the system output can track that of reference model asymptotically, and desired performance of the developed scheme is demonstrated by simulation studies on the lateral dynamic model of a Boeing 747 airplane.
