The Indian meal moth,Plodia interpunctella(Lepidoptera:Pyralidae),a globally distributed storage pest,relies on odors that are emitted from stored foods to select a suitable substrate for ***,the molecular mechanism underlying the chemical communication between *** and its host remains *** this study,130 chemosensory genes were identified from the transcriptomes of 7 *** tissues,and the quantitative expression levels of all 56 *** odorant receptor genes(PintORs)were validated using real-time quantitative polymerase chain *** functional characteristics of 5 PintORs with female antennae-biased expression were investigated using 2-electrode voltage clamp recordings in Xenopus laevis ***23 was found to be specifically tuned to *** could elicit a significant electrophysiological response and only attracted mated females when compared with males and virgin *** addition,molecular docking predicted that the hydrogen bonding sites,TRP-335 and ALA-167,might play key roles in the binding of PintOR23 to *** study provides valuable insights into the olfactory mechanism of oviposition substrate detection and localization in *** and points toward the possibility of developing eco-friendly odorant agents to control pests of stored products.

An Unexpected Discovery in the Willgerodt-Kindler Reaction of acetophenone--the Formation of the 4-（Benzoylthiocarbonyl）morpholine

The Willgerodt-Kindler reaction of acetophenone was studied. Apart from the normal product 4-（benzylthiocarbonyl）morpholine, another product 4-（benzoylthiocarbonyl）morpholine was obtained unexpectedly. The structure of the latter was confirmed by 1R, IH NMR spectra and X-ray diffraction analysis. The mechanism of the reaction was discussed.

Efficient C_(2)-Symmetric Chiral Schiff Bases for Lanthanide-catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation of acetophenone

An array of C2-symmetric chiral Schiff bases of substituted salicylaldehyde （1R, 2R）-1, 2-cyclohexanediamine and （R）-（＋）-2, 2＇-diamino-1, 1＇-binaphthalene, incorporated with lanthanide complexes, have been applied as catalysts for asymmetric hydrogenation of acetophenone for the first time. Highly enantioselective product with 90% enantiomeric excess （e.e.） was obtained when the catalyst, hybridized by the bulky electron-donating 3, 5-di-tert-butyl substituted Schiff base （2） and SmCl3.4THF, was employed.

A chiral ruthenium complex[（1S,2S）-DPEN]-RuCl_2（PPh_3）_2（DPEN = 1,2-diphenylethylenediamine,PPh_3 = triphenylphosphine） was encapsulated in the channel of Al-MCM-41 by electrostatic adsorption and 1,1-dichlorosilacyclobutane *** prepared heterogeneous catalyst showed the same catalytic activity and enantioselectivity as the corresponding homogeneous catalyst in the asymmetric hydrogenation of acetophenone,and could be reused at least seven times without significant loss of catalytic activity and enantioselectivity.

Microbial Transformation of acetophenone to 2-Phenylethanol

Microorganisms are commonly used to transform chemicals to chiral compounds. Pseudomonas cepacia 1813, Pseudomonas stutzeri 1317, Saccharomyces cerevisiae 1912, and 5 Escherichia coli strains were used to transform acetophenone to 2 phenylethanol. The results show that the E. coli strains have the poorest biotransformation ability. P. stutzeri 1317 provides the best transformation ability with a transformation rate of 30% achieved with either whole or broken P. stutzeri 1317 cells for a reaction pH of 8.2 and an initial acetophenone concentration of 2 g/L. An acetophenone concentration of 10 g/L strongly inhibits the biotransformation for a pH of 8.2. Crude alcohol dehydrogenase obtained from S. cerevisiae 1912 transforms acetophenone to 2 phenylethanol when nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide reduced (NADH) is added.

A series of chiral tetra-dentate ligands were synthesized and fully characterized by IR spectros-copy, multinuclear one-and two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy,mass *** transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone with the catalysts prepared in situ from Rh-,It- and Ru-complexes and ch-iral tetra-dentate ligands in i-PrOH gave the corresponding optically active secondary alcohols in high co-nversions under mild reaction conditions.

Efficient oxidation of ethylbenzene catalyzed by cobalt zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF-67 and NHPI

Efficient catalytic oxidation of ethylbenzene to acetophenone was realized using the catalytic system of cobalt zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF-67/N-hydroxyphthalimide （NHPI） under mild conditions. 95.2% conversion of ethylbenzene with 90.3% selectivity to acetophenone could be obtained at 373 K under 0.3 MPa 02 for 9 h. The results show that there exists synergetic effect between ZIF-67 and NHPI. 1-Phenylethyl hydroperoxide （PEHP） was generated via a radical process involving the hydrogen abstraction from ethylbenzene by phthalimide N-oxyl, and subsequently effectively decomposed to acetophenone by ZIF-67.

Chiral Borated Esters in Asymmetric Synthesis: 1. The First Asymmetric Reaction Catalyzed by Chiral Spiroborated Esters with an O_3BN Framework

The first asymmetric reaction catalyzed by chiral spiroborated esters with an O3BN framework was reported. In the presence of 0.1 equivalent of (R,S)-1 or (S,S)-1, acetophenone was reduced by 0.6 equivalent of borane in THF at 0—5 ℃ for 2 h to give (R)-1-phenylethanol of up to 76% ee and 73% isolated yield. Influence of reaction con-ditions on the stereoselectivity of the reduction was investigated and a possible catalytic mechanism of the chiral spiroborated esters toward the reduction was also suggested.
