A mediated electrochemical method was proposed for toxic evaluation of acetic acid on S. cerevisiae AS. 380, and menadione/ferricyanide was chosen as the mediator system. The variance in electrochemical response in the absence and presence of increasing concentrations of acetic acid were used to indicate the inhibitory effects of weak acid on the yeast. The inhibitory effects of acetic acid on glucose consumption during menadione mediated reduction of ferricyanide were also measured for comparison purpose. The relative limiting current and the glucose consumption were reduced by 64.5% and 61%, respectively, in the presence of 4g/L acetic acid at pH 4.0. The results showed that the electrochemical method can provide us with an appropriate and convenient tool for cytotoxic evaluation.

OBJECTIVE： Ulcerative colitis is a chronically recurrent inflammatory bowel disease of unknown origin. In the present study, the effect of ginger （rhizome of Zingiber officinale Roscoe） volatile oil on a rat model of colitis was evaluated. METHODS： Volatile oil of ginger with doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg, prednisolone （4 mg/kg）, or vehicle were administered orally to groups of male Wistar rats （n = 6） for 5 d. Animals were randomly divided into 6 groups, each group consisting of 6 rats. Colitis was induced by intracolonic instillation of 2 mL of 4% （v/v） acetic acid solution. All rats were sacrificed 24 h later and the tissue injuries were assessed macroscopically and histopathologically. RESULTS： Ginger volatile oil with all doses reduced colon weight/length ratio （P 〈 0.01） and the effects were similar to the reference drugs. Higher oral doses of volatile oil （200 and 400 mg/kg） reduced ulcer severity （P 〈 0.05 and P 〈 0.01）, ulcer area （P 〈 0.01） and ulcer index （P 〈 0.01）. On the other hand, evaluation of microscopic scores showed that the dose of 400 mg/kg of volatile oil was effective to reduce inflammation severity （P 〈 0.01） and inflammation extent （P 〈 0.05） compared to the control group. CONCLUSION： It is concluded that ginger volatile oil could effectively reduce symptoms of experimental colitis in a dose-dependent manner.

Preparation of Eu/TiO2 photocatalyst and degradation of acetic acid to hydrogen production

CO2 corrosion in the presence of acetic acid (HAc) has recently been recognized as a major cause of premature failure of mild steel pipelines in the oil and gas industry, So the effect of HAc in carbon dioxide Solution has been studied by more and more scholars recently. Though some information concerning the electrochemical behavior and the mechanism of enhanced corrosion has been reported in the presence of acetic acid in iterature, the corrosion mechanism when existing acetic acid in CO2 corrosion has not been understood well, for example, acetic acid can change the anodic dissolution processes or acetic acid only affect corrosion product film to enhance corrosion rate. In fact, in CO2 corrosion environments, from field experiences, the corrosion rate of carbon steel increased when Ac(?)ions are present in the produced liquids, though acetate can increases pH of the liquid. This observation is contrary to most models for CO2 corrosion prediction Laboratory research has shown that both HAc and Ac can increase the corrosion rate of iron. In this paper, the effect of acetic acid and acetate on corrosion behavior of carbon steel (N80) in CO2-saturated 1%NaCl solution at different temperature and pressure were investigated by using weight-loss test, electrochemical methods (polarization curve, EIS) and surface analysis techniques (SEM, XRD). The attention was focused on the effect of acetic acid and acetate on the anodic and cathodic reactions respectively. The results indicate that (1)the-determining step of cathodic reaction of CO2 corrosion is an inhomogeneous chemical reaction (CO2 hydrated reaction) at the electrode surface. Because acetic acid adsorbed on electrode surface can be reduced directly by electrochemical reaction, acetic acid and acetate promote the cathodic reduction reaction, and as a result, the corrosion rate was accelerated and independent of pH value of solutions. A dopant-assisted iodide-adduct chemical ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer based on VUV lamp photoionization for atmospheric low-molecular-weight organic acids analysis

In order to improve the photocatalytic performance of TiO, the research of doping and modifing with rare earth ion on nanometer TiO is widely attention. The doping of rare earth elements can cause TiO lattice expansion, and a moderate amount of lattice defects lead to more oxygen vacancy, which brings in potential level at the bottom of the conduction band and valence *** potential level becomes the trap to capture electron hole. The electron and hole are stimulated to migrate to the surface when they are captured and separated. It is greatly enhanced the effective separation of the electron hole pair to migrate to the surface of catalysts, thus improving the photocatalytic performance. Europium element is non-toxic and does not cause pollution. The nano Eu/TiO powder was produced in hydrothermal method in this paper. It was studied the influence of the Eu/TiO doping amount, catalyst, acetic acid concentration and p H of the solution in the experiment with acetic acid as the sacrificial agent of photocatalytic hydrogen production. The experimental results show that the best doping amount of Eu/TiO was 3%, and the amount of hydrogen production was four times than pure TiO. When the catalyst was 0.14 g/L and acetic acid concentration was 0.08 mol/L, the amount of hydrogen production was the highest. Strong acid condition(p H = 1) was in favour of the photocatalytic hydrogen production performance. Hence, Doped and modified with europium rare earth ion on TiO can improve the photocatalytic hydrogen production performance.

Formic and acetic acids are the most abundant gaseous organic acids and play the key role in the atmospheric *** iodine-adduct chemical ionizationmass spectrometry(CIMS),the low utilization efficiency of methyl iodide and humidity interference are two major issues of the vacuum ultraviolet(VUV)lamp initiated CIMS for on-line gaseous formic and acetic acids *** this work,we present a new CIMS based on VUV lamp,and the ion-molecular reactor is separated into photoionization and chemical ionization zones by a reducer *** was added to the photoionization zone,and the VUV photoionization acetone provided low-energy electrons for methyl iodide to generate I−,and the addition of acetone reduced the amount of methyl iodide by 2/*** the chemical ionization zone,a headspace vial containing ultrapure water was added for humidity calibration,and the vial changes the sensitivity as a function of humidity from ambiguity to well linear correlation(R2>0.95).With humidity calibration,the CIMS can quantitatively measure formic and acetic acids in the humidity range of 0%-88%*** this mode,limits of detection of 10 and 50 pptv are obtained for formic and acetic acids,*** the relative standard deviation(RSD)of quantitation stability for 6 days were less than 10.5%.This CIMS was successfully used to determine the formic and acetic acids in the underground parking and ambient environment of the Shandong University campus(Qingdao,China).In addition,we developed a simple model based formic acid concentration to assess vehicular emissions.

Some new complexes RE2(EDODA)3·3H2O, where RE = La, Nd, Eu, Gd, Tb, Er, Yb, Lu and Y, EDODA = ethylene-1,2-dioxydiacetate, have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, IR spectra, UV spectra, TG-DTA, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra. Various analyses indicate that the complexes are of nine-coordinated binuclear structure. The carboxylates are bidentate ligands and the ether oxygen atoms also coordinate to rare earth ions. Three water molecules are crystalline water. In addition, the influence of concentration on the chemical shift has been studied through the 1H NMR spectra of the complex Lu2(EDODA)3·3H2O in different concentrations.

The conversion of waste polylactic acid(PLA)plastics into high-value-added chemicals through electrochemical methods is a promising and sustainable ***,developing efficient and highly selective catalysts for lactic acid oxidation reaction(LAOR)and understanding the reaction process are ***,we report the electrooxidation of waste PLA to acetate at a high current density of 100 mA cm-2 with high Faraday efficiency(~95%)and excellent stability(>100 h)over a nickel selenide nanosheet *** addition,a total Faraday efficiency of up to 190%was achieved for carboxylic acids,including acetic acid and formic acid,by coupling with the cathodic CO_(2) reduction *** situ experimental results and theoretical simulations revealed that the catalytic activity center of LAOR was dynamically formed NiOOH species,and the surface-adsorbed SeO_(x) species accelerated the formation of Ni~(3+)species,thus promoting catalytic *** mechanism of lactic acid electrooxidation was further *** acid was dehydrogenated to produce pyruvate first and then formed CH_3CO due to preferential C-C bond cleavage,resulting in the presence of *** work demonstrated a sustainable method for recycling waste PLA and CO_(2) into high-value-added products.

BACKGROUND: The resection rate of primary liver tumor in China is only about 20%. A lot of patients with moderate and advanced liver tumor may lose the chance of opera- tion. The objective of present research was to study the ef- ficacy of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with percutaneous injection of chemical agents and acetic acids in the treatment of patients with primary liver cancer (PLC). METHODS: Thirty-three patients with middle and ad- vanced stage of PLC were divided into two groups: percu- taneous injection of chemical agents and acetic acids (15 patients, group A) and TACE (18 patients, group B). RESULTS: Tumor diameter and serum AFP level reduced to 86.6% and 83.3% in group A, and 55.5% and 40% in group B, respectively. There was significant difference be- tween the two groups ( P acetic acids is efficacious to in- crease the survival rate of patients with PLC.

It has been found that the two-phase reactions of aqueous HCl, HOAc or H_3PO_4 with primary amine N_ 1923 in chloroform are oscillating reactions. Their power-time curves were measured by the titration microcalorimetric method, and the induction period (t_ in). The first oscillating period (t_ p.1) and the second oscillating period (t_ p.2) were determined. The apparent activating parameters and the orders of the oscillating systems were calculated and the following relationships were established: for the oscillating system of hydrochloric acid t_ in∝c 0.147_ HClexp(1.35×10 3T), t_ p.1∝c 0.241_ HCl· exp(4.33×10 3T), t_ p.2∝c 0.290_ HClexp(5.59×10 3T); for the oscillating system of acetic acid, t_ in∝c 0.883_ HOAcexp(2.32×10 3T), t_ p.1∝c 0.399_ HOAc· exp(4.50×10 3T), t_ p.2∝c 0.301_ HOAcexp(5.88×10 3T); for the oscillating system of phosphoric acid, t_ in∝c 1.14_ H_3PO_4exp(7.70×10 4T), t_ p.1∝c 1.42_ H_3PO_4exp(1.14×10 4T), t_ p.2∝c 1.47_ H_3PO_4exp(1.27×10 4T).
