Ataxia-telangiectasia complicated with Hodgkin's lymphoma:A case report

BACKGROUND Ataxia-telangiectasia(AT)is a rare,autosomal recessive,multisystem *** most clinicians have low awareness of the disease,only scarce reports of AT exist in the literature,especially of cases with lymphoma/*** SUMMARY A 7-year-old girl with a history of recurrent respiratory tract infections was referred to our department because of unstable walking for 5 years and enlarged neck nodes for 2-mo *** examination revealed scleral telangiectasia and cerebellar *** alpha-fetoprotein,decreased serum immunoglobulin,and decreased T cell function were the major findings of laboratory *** analysis of cervical lymph node biopsy was suggestive of classical Hodgkin's *** examination showed heterozygous nucleotide variation of c.6679C>T and heterozygous nucleotide variation of c.5773 delG in the atm gene;her parents were *** final diagnosis was AT with Hodgkin's *** Clinicians should strengthen their understanding of AT *** diagnosis plays an important role in its diagnosis and treatment.

Changes of the cell cycle regulators and cell cycle arrest in cervical cancer cells after cisplatin therapy

Objective To investigate the changes of the cell cycle regulators atm,Chk2 and p53 and cell cycle arrest in HeLa cells after cisplatin therapy. Methods The proliferation-inhibiting rates of HeLa cells induced by cisplatin of different concentrations were measured by MTT assays. The mRNA and protein expressions of atm,Chk2 and p53 of HeLa cells with and without cisplatin were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot,respectively. The cell cycle analysis was conducted by flow cytometric analysis. Results Cisplatin inhibited the proliferation of HeLa cells in a dose-and time-dependent manner. The mRNA and protein expressions of atm,Chk2 and p53 were increased in HeLa cells treated with cisplatin. The cell cycle was arrested in G2/M phase in HeLa cells treated with cisplatin. Conclusion Activation of atm,Chk2 and p53 might be critical in determining whether cells survive or undergo apoptosis. Targeting atm,Chk2 and p53 pathway might be a promising strategy for reversing chemoresistance to cisplatin in cervical cancer.
