Did weekly economic index and volatility index impact US food sales during the first year of the pandemic?

We explore the impacts of economic and financial dislocations caused by COVID-19 pandemic shocks on food sales in the United States from January 2020 to January *** use the US weekly economic index(WEI)to measure economic dislocations and the Chicago Board Options Exchange volatility index(VIX)to capture the broader stock market *** validate the Nardl model by testing a battery of models using the autoregressive distributed lags(ardl)methodology(ardl,Nardl,and Qardl specifications).Our study postulates that an increase in WEI has a significant negative long-term effect on food sales,whereas a decrease in WEI has no statistically significant(long-run)***,policy responses that ignore asymmetric effects and hidden cointegration may fail to promote food security during pandemics.

Savings,investment,and growth in Nepal:an empirical analysis

This study analyzes the relationship between savings,investment,and economic growth in Nepal over 1975–*** structural breaks in the variables have been accounted for using the(Zivot and Andrews’s,J Bus Econ Stat 10:251–2701992)unit root test along with(Gregory and Hansen’s,Oxf Bull Econ Stat 58:555–560,1996)cointegration *** ardl approach to cointegration in the presence of structural breaks has also been utilized to analyze the long-and short-run dynamics of savings,investment,and growth in *** results show structural breaks in the real GDP per capita during 2001 when the Royal Massacre and a state of emergency have taken place in *** allowing for this structural break,evidence of a cointegration relationship amongst savings,investment,and economic growth was *** estimates of the ardl approach suggest that investment has a significant and positive impact on economic ***,gross domestic savings have a negative impact on growth in the long *** results clearly show weaknesses of the economy in mobilizing savings into productive sectors.

Impact of petroleum and non-petroleum indices on financial development in Oman

This study analyzes the impact of petroleum and non-petroleum indices on the financial development of the Sultanate of Oman from 1978 to *** this end,it uses the petroleum proxy of oil rents(%of gross domestic product,GDP)and the non-petroleum proxy of industry(including construction)value added(%of GDP);agriculture,forestry,and fishing value added(%of GDP);and services value added(%of GDP)to determine the effect on financial development,measured by the amount of domestic credit extended to the private sector by banks(%of GDP).It applies an autoregressive distributed lag(ardl)*** long-term equation illustrates that the agriculture and industry GDPs have a negative and significant relationship with domestic credit in ***,the oil and service sector GDPs promote financial *** short-term equation illustrates that the oil,agricultural,and service sectors have positive and significant effects on domestic *** conclusion is that the economy of Oman is still in the first phase of economic ***,the government should use oil revenues to develop various non-oil industrial *** would enhance the country’s competitiveness in the global economy and positively contribute to improving the liquidity of the banking sector for stimulating credit at the macroeconomic level.

A novel fractional grey model applied to the environmental assessment in Turkey

This study presents a novel fractional order grey model FGM(α,1)obtained by extending the grey model(GM(1,1)).For this,we generalize the whitenization first-order differential equation to fractional order by using the Caputo fractional derivative of orderα.A real-world case study,scrutinize the economic growth influence on environmental degradation in Turkey,is performed to evaluate the significance of the projected model FGM(α,1)in contrast to the current classical *** apply autoregressive distributed lags bounds testing co-integration approach to empirically examine the long-run and shortrun relation among economic growth,agriculture,forestry and fishing(AFF),electricity utilization and CO_(2)*** the new fractional order model,all the variables are forecasted in the forthcoming years until *** disclose that electricity utilization and economic growth(GDP)accelerate emission of CO_(2) though in the long run agriculture,forestry,and fishing reduce the environmental pollution in Turkey.
