With air as the working substance and infrared heating as energy source, typhoons aresimulated in a rotating chamber in the laboratory. The horizontal circulation on the threelayers and the vertical cross sections are given. They agree quite well with the real obser-vations. Several interesting results are obtained in a series of experiments on the motions oftyphoons under the influence of the topography along the SE coast of China. Amongthem the two important ones are: (1) When the typhoons approach Taiwan of Chinafrom the cast or south-east, there appear two eyes, one to the SE and the other to theNW of Taiwan. (2) When the typhoons move toward the continent at a comparativelylarge angle, the motion is conspieuously speeding up with its centre drawing near the coast.
