Background: The relationship between chronic neck and shoulder pain and posture remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between chronic neck and shoulder pain and spinal sagittal alignment in standing posture in younger generation. Methods: Subjects included 57 females and 32 males (average age, 29.9 ± 5.7 years). All subjects were 20s or 30s. Spinal curvature was assessed using SpinalMouse. The subjects were also divided into a normal group (VAS zero group) and a pain group by VAS results. Statistical analysis was performed by Student’s t-test. Significance was defined as p < 0.05. Results: The normal group and pain group included 29 and 60 subjects, respectively. In terms of location of pain, thirty-one subjects felt neck pain, 50 felt pain above the scapula, and 17 felt pain between the thoracic spine and scapula. Thoracic kyphosis and lumbar lordosis in the pain group were significantly higher than those in the normal group (p = 0.013 and p = 0.020, respectively). Thoracic kyphosis in subjects with neck pain or pain above scapula was significantly higher than that in subjects without pain (p = 0.0075 and p = 0.025, respectively). Lumbar lordosis in subjects with pain above the scapula or interscapula was significantly higher than that in subjects without pain (p = 0.016).

This paper proposes a universal framework,termed as Multi-Task Hybrid Convolutional Neural Network(MHCNN),for joint face detection,facial landmark detection,facial quality,and facial attribute *** consists of a high-accuracy single stage detector(SSD)and an efficient tiny convolutional neural network(T-CNN)for joint face detection refinement,alignment and attribute *** the SSD face detectors achieve promising results,we find that applying a tiny CNN on detections further boosts the detected face scores and bounding *** multi-task training,our T-CNN aims to provide five facial landmarks,facial quality scores,and facial attributes like wearing sunglasses and wearing *** there is no public facial quality data and facial attribute data as we need,we contribute two datasets,namely FaceQ and FaceA,which are collected from the *** show that our MHCNN achieves face detection performance comparable to the state of the art in face detection data set and benchmark(FDDB),and gets reasonable results on AFLW,FaceQ and FaceA.

Corner-Based Image alignment using Pyramid Structure with Gradient Vector Similarity

This paper presents a corner-based image alignment algorithm based on the procedures of corner-based template matching and geometric parameter estimation. This algorithm consists of two stages: 1) training phase, and 2) matching phase. In the training phase, a corner detection algorithm is used to extract the corners. These corners are then used to build the pyramid images. In the matching phase, the corners are obtained using the same corner detection algorithm. The similarity measure is then determined by the differences of gradient vector between the corners obtained in the template image and the inspection image, respectively. A parabolic function is further applied to evaluate the geometric relationship between the template and the inspection images. Results show that the corner-based template matching outperforms the original edge-based template matching in efficiency, and both of them are robust against non-liner light changes. The accuracy and precision of the corner-based image alignment are competitive to that of edge-based image alignment under the same environment. In practice, the proposed algorithm demonstrates its precision, efficiency and robustness in image alignment for real world applications.

The Relationship between Myopia and Ocular alignment among Rural Adolescents

Purpose: The prevalence of myopia in school-age children and rural area in Taiwan has increased dramatically. The aim of this study was to explore the associated factors of myopia in rural ado-lescents. Methods: A cross sectional design with a rural junior high student was invited to partici-pate in this study. The relationship between refraction error (RE), spectacle fitting condition, and ocular alignment was determined by stereoacuity. The RE was determined using autorefractor. The ocular alignment was evaluated by cover-uncover test. Stereoacuity was measured by Titmus test. The examination about spectacle fitting included the lens power, lens transparency, pupil distance, frame size, and distortion of the frame. Multiple linear regression was used to determine the effect of the spectacle suitability and ocular alignment on the RE and stereoacuity. Results: The prevalence of myopia was 78% in a total of 338 adolescents, and the incidence of high myopia (≤-6 Diopter, D) accounted for 10.2%. Participant worn poor-fitting spectacles were found with more myopia (-3.95D vs -3.42D, p = 0.02). The exophoria or exotropia significantly increased RE (p alignment in myopic suffers.

Increasing Throughput and Reducing Delay in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Interference alignment

With the advent of sensor nodes with higher communication and sensing capabilities, the challenge arises in forming a data gathering network to maximize the network capacity. The channel sharing for higher data transmission leads to interfering problems. The effects of interferences become increasingly important when simultaneous transmissions are done in order to increase wireless network capacity. In such cases, achieving a high throughput and low delay is difficult. We propose a new method that uses interference alignment (IA) technique to mitigate interference effects in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). In IA technique, multiple transmitters jointly encode their signals to intended receivers such that interfering signals are separated and eliminated. Simulation results demonstrate that compared to TDMA algorithms, the proposed method significantly increases the performance of the network delay and throughput by reducing the delay and increasing throughput.

Comparison of bone alignment and fiducial marker alignment for online cone-beam computed tomography-guided radiation therapy for prostate cancer

Objective The aim of the study was to evaluate the coverage of the prostate when prostatic implanted fiducial markers are used to verify setup of the patients in comparison to the pelvic bones while using conebeam computed tomography(CBCT). Methods Seventeen patients with prostate cancer were included. For each patient, daily online CBCT was done. CT planning was matched with CBCT with the help of fiducial markers(3–5 markers) and another matching with done the help of pelvic bony landmarks. Registration of clinical target volume(CTV) 1 including prostate plus seminal vesicles and CTV2 including prostate only was done and were used to confirm the target volume during the process of matching. Delineation of the rectum on every CBCT was done. Two automatic margin representing planning target volume(PTV) were created. PTV1 was generated by adding 1 cm in all directions(PTV1a) and 0.7 cm in the posterior direction(PTV1b). PTV2 was generated by adding 0.5 cm in all directions(PTV2a) and 0.3 cm in the posterior direction(PTV2b). PTV1a was prescribed to receive 46 Gy in conventional fractionation with a boost dose of 30 Gy to PTV1b. The same dose was prescribed to PTV2a and PTV2b. Calculation of the percentage of intersection between CTV1and CTV2 created on CBCT with the original CTV scan was done. A comparison between the two CTVs(CTV1and CTV2) mean dose and the original delineated CTV was done. Then a comparison to the mean dose of the original CTV of PTV1a, PTV2a(CTV1a and CTV2a), and for PTV1b and PTV2b(CTV1b and CTV2b). Calculation of the mean rectal dose and also V60, V70 and V74 was done on the delineated rectum on every CBCT, and then a comparison to the planned original rectal dose. Introduction: Prosthetic limbs must be developed with proper alignment to facilitate safe and efficient gait patterns. This study aimed to identify factors impacting clinically proper gait patterns by objectively evaluating them in persons with lower-limb amputations who use prosthetic limbs. Materials and Methods: This non-experimental descriptive study assessed 58 persons with amputation who used prosthetic limbs. The mechanical axis angle (MAA) of the lower limb during the heel contact, midstance, and toe-off phases and the angle between the tube and floor during the midstance phase were measured using coronal plane gait images. We also investigated whether the MAA and tube angle during the midstance phase have a multimodal distribution. In case of multimodal distributions, we tested for significant between-group differences in patient characteristics. Results: The MAA and tube angle in the coronal plane during the midstance phase had a bimodal distribution (mean 0°). There was a significant difference in the duration of prosthetic limb use between the MAA alignment during the midstance phase had a bimodal distribution. In both groups, deviations in the lower limb MAA were aligned to be approximately 3°.

Keystroke Authentication on Enhanced Needleman alignment Algorithm

An important point for computer systems is the identification of users for authentication. One of these identification methods is keystroke dynamics. The keystroke dynamics is a biometric measurement in terms of keystroke press duration and keystroke latency. However, several problems are arisen like the similarity between users and identification accuracy. In this paper, we propose innovative model that can help to solve the problem of similar user by classifying user’s data based on a membership function. Next, we employ sequence alignment as a way of pattern discovery from the user’s typing behaviour. Experiments were conducted to evaluate accuracy of the proposed model. The results show high performance compared to standard classifiers in terms of accuracy and precision.

Novel type of polyethylene imine having methoxy (–OCH3) substituent azobenzene side chain group through eight methylene spacer group (PEI8M) was successfully synthesized and characterized by the polymer by 1H NMR, differential scanning calorimetry, polarized optical microscopic and X-ray diffraction analysis. Synthesized polymer possessed liquid crystalline (LC) properties. Spin coated PEI8M film showed out-of-plane molecular orientation on annealing and non-polarized visible light irradiation. PEI8M in solid film exhibited photoresponsive properties upon irradiation of UV and visible light. PEI8M film also exhibited reversible molecular orientation from random state to out-of-plane and from out-of-plane to random state on annealing, non-polarized UV and visible light irradiation.
