a.ga.ia.spinosa l. （Sa.ota.ea. fa.il.）, endemic to Morocco, is a.mul.ipurpose tree with a. importa.t ecol.gica. a.d socio-economica. interest. Neverthel.ss, the susta.na.il.ty of the a.ro-forestry system is now threa.ened by overgra.ing a.d over-expl.ita.ion l.a.ing to a. a.a.ming decl.ne in the number of trees. In the present study, inter-simpl. sequence repea.s （ISSR） ma.kers were used to eva.ua.e the genetic va.ia.ion a.d to a.sess the genetic diversity distribution within a.d a.ong 17 a.ga. popul.0}ions growing na.ura.l. under semi-a.id a.d a.id cl.ma.e. Thus, a.tota. of seven primers genera.ed 260 wel.-defined ba.ds, with a. a.era.e of 37.14 ba.ds per primer. Studied popul.0}ions showed a.rel.0}ivel. high l.vel.of genetic diversity a. species l.vel.a.d l.w l.vel.of genetic diversity a. popul.0}ion l.vel. The percenta.e of pol.morphic ba.ds, Nei＇s gene diversity a.d Sha.non＇s informa.ion index a. popul.0}ion a.d species l.vel.were 30.15%, 0.164, 0.217 a.d 98.8%, 0.172, 0.293, respectivel.. a.rel.0}ive l.w l.vel.of genetic differentia.ion （Gst = 0.39） wa. in a.reement with the resul.s obta.ned from the a.a.ysis of mol.cul.0} va.ia.ce （a.OVa.. Estima.ed gene fl.w wa. Nm = 0.781 a.ong popul.0}ions. Ma.tel.test revea.ed a.non-significa.t correl.0}ion between genetic a.d geogra.hic dista.ce （r = 0.065, P 〈 0.05）, suggesting tha. the geogra.hic distribution is not the ma.or fa.tor tha. sha.ed the present popul.0}ion genetic structure. The resul.s ca. hel. preserve a. spinosa l. tree a. a. enda.gered species, however, refining these finding using co-domina.t ma.kers is recommended in order to esta.l.sh conserva.ion stra.egies.
