The integration of cross-cultural inquiries into the realm of translation has given rise to a distinct subfield known as cross-cultural translation studies.This approach emphasizes the importance of delving into the cultural subtleties and the awareness of cultural subjectivity within the translation process.Central to this framework is the concept of reshaping cultural nuances and the subjectivity of culture.This paper introduces three principal translation strategies that emerge from a cross-cultural standpoint:the alienation translation strategy,the‘cannibalism’translation strategy,and the destructive translation strategy.Utilizing the English translation of“dream of the red Chamber”as a case study,the paper examines how cultural nuances and cultural subjectivity influence the selection of translation strategies and demonstrates the practical application of cross-cultural research within the translation sphere.Hence,the significance of cross-cultural translation studies lies in its capacity to offer a novel lens through which to view translation studies.It encourages a reevaluation of cultural nuances and subjectivity in translation,which is of profound practical importance for advancing the field of translation studies,enhancing cross-cultural communication,and facilitating the spread of Chinese discourse on the global stage.

In the context of interdisciplinary research,using computer technology to further mine keywords in cultural texts and carry out semantic analysis can deepen the understanding of texts,and provide quantitative support and evidence for humanistic studies.Based on the novel a dream of red mansions,the automatic extraction and classification of those sentiment terms in it were realized,and detailed analysis of large-scale sentiment terms was carried out.Bidirectional encoder representation from transformers(BERT) pretraining and fine-tuning model was used to construct the sentiment classifier of a dream of red mansions.Sentiment terms of a dream of red mansions are divided into eight sentimental categories,and the relevant people in sentences are extracted according to specific rules.It also tries to visually display the sentimental interactions between Twelve Girls of Jinling and Jia Baoyu along with the development of the episode.The overall F_(1) score of BERT-based sentiment classifier reached 84.89%.The best single sentiment score reached 91.15%.Experimental results show that the classifier can satisfactorily classify the text of a dream of red mansions,and the text classification and interactional analysis results can be mutually verified with the text interpretation of a dream of red mansions by literature experts.

Apart from intercultural communication and ESL education,non-verbal communication is also an ideal method to examine the visual adaptation of literary works when it is further classified into direct and indirect communication.Whether an actor or an actress’non-verbal performances are compatible to the non-verbal behaviour of the character he or she plays is of great importance in the appraisal,which is transparent through the comparison and contrast of non-verbal communication in two versions of a dream of red mansions TV series.

Poetry is an integral part of the artistic framework of a dream of red mansions,and plays a crucial role in shaping the atmosphere,portraying characters,and reflecting social reality,therefore it has both unique artistic charm and research value.This paper takes Kuhn’s and Schwarz’s translation of a dream of red mansions as the research objects,selects 19 poems that both translators have translated to make a corpus,uses the software LancsBox to compare the translations from three levels of vocabulary,syntax,and text,in order to provide a new interpretation dimension for the translation research of a dream of red mansions and enrich the application of the corpus-based method in the field of translation research of Chinese classics.

Because of its overwhelming and long-lasting attraction,Hong Lou Meng which is regarded as the most remarkable Chinese novel has never ceased to be investigated by Chinese and foreign scholars.Yang Xianyi’s translation version is one of the best translation versions,especially the dress translation.Yang Xianyi’s version of a dream of red mansions provides good examples for translation strategies analysis.

Speech means is the way to refine and integrate the elements with potential intelligence in language symbols. Based on rhetorical devices, this paper probes into the effect of drinkers’ wager game, idiom, posture and character in a dream of red mansions, aiming to help readers to better understand the development of the plot of the novel and the characterization of characters and further to enhance the understanding of the language rhetoric of the text as a whole. At the same time, it is hoped to provide some personal opinions for the rhetoric study of a dream of red mansions.

A character's name in literary works carries many messages. Therefore, translators have to think how to make the translation of characters' names in order to exactly express the deep meaning and keep the original style. Through a comparative study of English translation of characters' names in two English versions of a dream of red mansions, the author introduces two different methods applied by Mr. Yang and Hawkes respectively, analyzes their merits and restrictions, finally gives suggestions in translating characters' names in literary works.
