3d visualization of images generated by Computerized Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance imaging(MRI) has shown important uses in medical diagnoses,treatment and ***,images generated by CT or MRI are examined by doctors at a later *** airport security inspection systems, however,images have to be visualized in ***,inspectors can only view 2d images and the content of the images can only be identified by human eyes. Real-time 3d visualization and automatic content identification are still a challenge. In this paper,we discuss technologies in 3d image processing and content identification. Applications that have been developed in medicine and airport security are also *** and experiments in medical imaging were performed on a simulation system at the National Biomedical Research Foundation(Georgetown University medical Center).Research and experiments in airport security system were performed at a high-tech company in Washington dC.
