ELECTROCHEMICAL COPOLYMERIZATION OF 3-(4-FLUOROPHENYL)THIOPHENE AND 3-methylthiophene IN BORON TRIFLUORIDE DIETHYL ETHERATE

The copolymer poly（3-（4-fluorophenyl）thiophene-co-3-methylthiophene） was successfully prepared from mixtures of 3-（4-fluorophenyl）thiophene （FPT） and 3-methylthiophene （MET） via electrochemical oxidation in boron trifluoride diethyl etherate （BFEE） and its mixed electrolytes with acetonitrile （ACN）. The influence of monomer concentration ratios on the copolymerization was investigated by using linear sweep voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry. The structure and morphology of these copolymer films were elucidated by UV-Vis, infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, thermal analysis and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, respectively. The results showed that the molar ratio of FPT and MeT units, when copolymer was electrodeposited from feed ratio of FPT：MeT = 1：2, was about 1.08：1. In addition, the introduction of ACN into BFEE has little effect on the properties of as-formed copolymers.

Study on Electrochemical Copolymerization of Aniline and 3-methylthiophene in HMIMBF4 Ionic Liquid and Its Properties

Electrochemical polymerization of aniline and 3-methylthiophene has been accomplished in 1-methylimidazium tetrafluoroborate （HMIMBF4） ionic liquid. Homopolymer and copolymers of aniline and 3-methylthiophene were obtained successfully. The copolymer was studied by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The formation of copolymer has been confirmed by FT-IR and UV spectra. The atomic force microscope （AFM） was used for microstructural analysis. Both the homopolymer and the copolymer had the catalytic activity for the hydroquinone.

Electropolymerization of 3-methylthiophene in [BMIM]PF6 Ionic Liquid, Characterization and Application

Poly-3-methylthiophene （P3MT） was synthesized in the room temperature ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate （[BMIM]PF6） by constant potential and constant current respectively. The structure and morphology of P3MT films were characterized by FTIR spectrum and SEM. The undoped （reduction） and doped （oxidation） forms of P3MT film prepared in ionic liquid were reversible and stable. The P3MT film has strong characteristics of electrocatalytic oxidation of ascorbic acid and can separate the oxidation peaks of ascorbic acid and dopamine. Two methods of potential steps were used to observe the response time of the film and the film was found to have perfect electrochromic response.

Oxidation of Thiophenes over Silica Gel in Hydrogen Peroxide/Formic Acid System

Thiophene (C4H4S) and 3-methylthiophene(3-MC4H4S) are typical thiophenenic sulfur compounds that exist in fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) gasoline. Oxidation of C4H4S and 3-MC4H4S were conducted in hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and formic acid system over a series of silica gel loaded with metal oxide. The silica gel loaded with copper and cobalt (1:1) oxide was found very active for the model compound oxidation using H2O2/formic acid, while the silica gel unloaded with metal oxide was less active. The sulfur removal rate of thiophenes was different as solvent was changed. And the conversation of C4H4S and 3-MC4H4S was improved at higher temperature,but reduced when olefin was added. The sulfur removal rate of model sulfur compounds was enhanced when the phase transfer catalyst emulsifier polyethylene glycol octyl phenyl ether or tetrabutylammonium bromide(TBAB)in a H2O2 and formic acid system with the addition of TBAB, a bromine substitution trend appeared in the oxidation of thiophenes, suggesting the influence of TBAB.

Selectivity adsorption of thiophene alkylated derivatives over modified Cu^+-13X zeolite

Solid adsorbents Cu＋- 13X and Cu＋-13X loaded with La element were prepared by ion-exchange method. X-ray diffraction （XRD） and scanning electron microscope （SEM） were used to characterize the structure of the prepared zeolite. Adsorption of thiophene with differ- ent groups over the two adsorbents was investigated by static adsorption equilibrium and kinetic test. Static equilibrium data were correlated based on the Langmuir model and the modified Langmuir model. Kinetic data were fitted very well by Crank diffusion model. The results re- vealed that the adsorption capacity of single component over the Cu＋-13X loaded with La element increased about 10% as compared to the non-doped Cu＋-13X. Fitting results of ηi and De illustrated that loading of the La element into zeolite could change the interaction force be- tween binary components. The kinetic test showed that the competitive adsorption became moderate, and thus resulted in the improvement of the total desulfiarization capacity.
