This paper examines the use of 3d electronic medium as a tool for procuring detailed design information for the Sandridge Bridge Travellers project. The Sandridge Bridge Travellers project required the production of 10 7.5 m of tall × 5 ― 12 m of wide figures under very tight programme and budget constraints. This was achieved through a synthesis of art and engineering, whereby structure and sculpture become one and the same. Traditional procurement routes would have entailed the production and interpretation of drawings and design details at all discipline interfaces before fabrication; an approach that was unfeasible given the constraints. Instead, The Travellers project saw a single electronic file pass backwards and forwards from client to architect, engineer, and fabricator, with information from the initial artistic concept work phases through to analysis, design, member scheduling and fabrication all integrated and facilitated by a single electronic medium. Key to the delivery was the use of 3d modeling and scripting programs that enabled the efficient use and development of design information through all stages of the design process. This enabled total integration of all trades requiring a collaborative approach where each party maintained joint ownership of the 3d design information from inception to conception.

GIS tools for correlation of tectonics and seismicity in the Altay-Sayan area,Russia

Fault-block structures of the Altay-Sayan folded area （ASFA） southeastern Siberia of Russia were used as the basis for creating a 3-d model. The surface structures were projected to depths by previous correlations between long and deep faults, with all layers and deformation factors defined. The mean deformation factor （ds） is 0.12 unit/km^3 in the upper layer, 0.012 unit/km^3 in the intermediate layer, and 0.007 unit/km^3 in the lower layer of the 3-d ASFA neotectonic model. ds allows correlation of the three distinguished layers with theological bodies that differ in their potential for accumulating elastic energy. 3-d modeling can be used as a methodological approach to projections in seismic prone areas such as the Krasnoyarsk region, for earthquake-hazard monitoring.

Enhanced Constructability Using 4d Plus Modelling in Brownfield Sites

In the oil and gas industry, operations in greenfield sites are straightforward. However, there are increased risks, such as damage to existing facilities, unknown site conditions, and other complexities in brownfield sites. In addition to these physical risks, task scheduling is also complex, as vessels need to be replaced during a turnaround. To mitigate the risks of site conditions and realize a truncated schedule for Saudi Aramco’s operations, 3d laser scanning was combined with 3d modeling, clash detection, and time. This integrated approach minimized the shutdown period, which resulted in cost savings, heightened safety, and enhanced stakeholder communications.

Because of unreasonable coal mining in China, there are many unknown underground caves,and the inhabited environment of humans is threatened by many geologic hazards,such as cracking of the buildings,ground subsidence,*** make the coal companies aware of the harmfulness of these hazards,it is urgent to determine the reasons for the *** this paper,transient electromagnetic method(TEM) is used to detect the ground resistance caves,instead of the time-consuming and expensive direct drilling *** results of the 3-d synthetic model and real field survey data are given. The results showed that the TEM method can be used to detect a complicated air-filled underground 3-d cave and coincide with the results of direct drilling survey.
