The separation and recovery of copper(Ⅱ), nickel(Ⅱ), cobalt(Ⅱ), zinc(Ⅱ),and cadmium(Ⅱ) in a sulfate-based solution using a mixture of Versatic 10 acid and Mextral 984H

We studied the separation and recovery of copper(Ⅱ), nickel(Ⅱ), cobalt(Ⅱ), zinc(Ⅱ), and cadmium(Ⅱ) from magnesium and calcium, using synergistic solvent extraction(SSX) in a typical hydrometallurgical waste solution. A mixture of Versatic 10 acid and Mextral 984 H, diluted with Mextral DT100, was used to obtain fundamental data on p H and distribution isotherms, as well as the kinetics of extraction and stripping. We also investigated the main effects and interactions of common solvent extraction factors: the extraction p H at equilibrium, the temperature, and the extractant concentration. The synergistic effect for extracting metals was confirmed. The results showed that the addition of Mextral 984 H enhanced the separation factors of copper, nickel, cobalt,zinc, and cadmium over magnesium and calcium. Compared with Versatic 10 acid alone, for a mixture of0.5 mol·L^(-1) Versatic 10 acid/0.5 mol·L^(-1)Mextral 984 H, Δp H50 values of copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc, and cadmium were found to be N 2.0, 3.30, 2.85, 0.95, and 1.32 p H units, respectively. The Δp H_(50)(Zn–Mg)and Δp H_(50)(Zn–Ca)values were 3.27 and 2.25, respectively, indicating easy separation and recovery of copper, nickel, zinc, cobalt,and cadmium. The extraction and stripping of copper, cobalt, zinc, and cadmium were fast, with 90% of the metal transferred in 2 min. We next studied whether the metals could be stripped from the extracted liquid selectively in sequence, by using sulfuric acid at different concentrations. The influence of the molecular structure of the oxime and carboxylic acid components upon the synergistic effects was identified by numerical *** separation of copper, nickel, cobalt, and zinc over magnesium and calcium was achieved with this synergistic solvent extraction system.

In order to explore the novel application of the transparent hole-transporting material 5,10,15-tribenzyl-5Hdiindolo[3,2-a：3＇,2＇-c]-carbazole（TBDI）,in this article TBDI is used as an active layer but not a buffer layer in a photodetector（PD）,organic light-emitting diode（OLED）,and organic photovoltaic cell（OPV） for the first ***,the absorption and emission spectra of a blend layer comprised of TBDI and electron-transporting material bis-（2-methyl-8-quinolinate） 4-phenylphenolate（BAlq） are *** on the absorption properties,an organic PD with a peak absorption at 320 nm is fabricated,and a relatively-high detectivity of 2.44×10^（11） cm· Hz^（1/2）/W under 320-nm illumination is *** TBDI/tris（8-hydroxyquinoline） aluminum（Alq_3） OLED device exhibits a comparable external quantum efficiency and current efficiency to a traditional 4,4-bis[N-（l-naphthyl）-N-phenyl-amino]biphenyl（α-NPD）/Alq_3 OLED.A C_（70）-based Schottky junction with 5 wt%-TBDI yields a power conversion efficiency of 5.0%,which is much higher than 1.7%for an α-NPD-based junction in the same *** results suggest that TBDI has some promising properties which are in favor of the hole-transporting in Schottky junctions with a low-concentration donor.

Complex method of the plane elasticity in 2D quasicrystal with point group 10 mm tenfold rotational symmetry and holey problems

The complex method of the plane elasticity in 2D quasicrystal with point group 10 mm tenfold rotational symmetry is established. First displacement potential function in the quasicrystal is represented by four analytic functions. Then by utilizing the properties of analytic function and through a great deal of derivation, the complex representations of stresses and displacementscomponents of phonon fields and phason fields in the quasicrystal are given, which are the theo-retical foundation for this method. From this theory, and by the help of conformal transformations in the theory of complex function, the problems of elliptic hole in the quasicrystal are solved. Its spe-cial cases are the solutions of well-known crack problem. Meanwhile, the results show that even if under the self-counterbalance force in the quasicrystal plane with elliptic hole, the stress compo-nents of phonon fields are also related to material constants of the quasicrystal when the phonon fields and phason fields are coupled, which is another distinctive difference from the properties of classical elastic theory. Besides, the present work is generalization and application of the complex method in the classical elastic theory established by Muskhelishvili to 2D quasicrystal. As in the classical elastic theory, if only conformal transformation from the quasicrystal plane to unit circle isfound, any holey and crack problem in the quasicrystal plane could be solved.

Effects of calmodulin and calmodulin binding protein BP-10 on phosphorylation of thylakoid membrane protein

Light induced phosphorylation of endogenous thylakoid membrane protein can be inhibited markedly by a novel inhibitor CaMBP 10 which is discovered and isolated from plant. The inhibitory effect of BP 10 can be eliminated by addition of CaM. At the same time, the phosphorylation can also be inhibited by EGTA or CaM antagonists , such as TFP (trifluoperazine) and W 7 (N (6 aminohexyl) 5 chloro 1 naphthalene sulfonamide). This result implies that (i) Ca 2+ and CaM most likely participate in and regulate plant photosynthesis; (ii) the kinase that catalyzes thylakoid membrane protein phosphorylation can be regulated by Ca 2+ and CaM. However, the further experiments indicate that BP 10 has no effect on dephosphorylation of thylakoid phosphoproteins .

Study of spatial distribution of sandy desertification in North China in recent 10 years

Sandy desertification is a land degradation characterized by wind erosion, mainly resulted from the excessive human activities in arid, semiarid and part of sub-humid regions in North China. It is one of main kinds of desertification/land degradation as well as water-soil erosion and salinization in China. Rapid and continuous spread of sandy desertification during last 50 years has created a major environmental and socio-economic problem in North China. Remote sensing monitored results in 2000 showed that the sandy desertified land area has been 38.57× 104 km2. The area of potential to slightly sandy desertified land is 13.93× 104 km2, moderately land 9.977×104 km2, severely land 7.909 ×104 km2 and very severely land 6.756×104 km2. Sandy desertification mainly occurs in the semi-arid mixed farming-grazing zone and its northern rangeland zone, semi-arid dryland rainfed cropping zone and arid oasis-desert margin zone. The average annually developmental rate of sandy desertified land increased from 2,100 km2 ·a-1 in 1976-1988 to 3,600 km2 · a-1 in 1988-2000. The basic status of sandy desertification in North China is 'overall deterioration, while local rehabilitation'. Already achieved rehabilitation results and monitoring assessment show that about 60% of desertified land in North China can be restored under the conditions of rational land-use ways and intensity.

In this paper, the dispersion compensation of 4×10Gb/s 800km G.652 fiber by chirped optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) was originally implemented. The characteristics of FBG are optimized, so that the ripple coefficient of reflectivity and time delay are less than 0.9dB and 30ps, respectively. When BER is 10?10, the power penalties of transmission are 1.36 dB, 0.89 dB, 1.67 dB and 1.32 dB.

Oncogene GAEC1 regulates CAPN10 expression which predicts survival in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

AIM: To identify the downstream regulated genes of GAEC1 oncogene in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and their clinicopathological significance. METHODS: The anti-proliferative effect of knocking down the expression of GAEC1 oncogene was stud-ied by using the RNA interference (RNAi) approach through transfecting the GAEC1 -overexpressed esophageal carcinoma cell line KYSE150 with the pSilencer vector cloned with a GAEC1 -targeted sequence, followed by MTS cell proliferation assay and cell cycle analysis using flow cytometry. RNA was then extracted from the parental, pSilencer-GAEC1 -targeted sequence transfected and pSilencer negative control vector transfected KYSE150 cells for further analysis of different patterns in gene expression. Genes differentially expressed with suppressed GAEC1 expression were then determined using Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 cDNA microarray analysis by comparing with the parental cells and normalized with the pSilencer negative control vector transfected cells. The most prominently regulated genes were then studied by immunohistochemical staining using tissue microarrays to determine their clinicopathological correlations in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma by statistical analyses. RESULTS: The RNAi approach of knocking down gene expression showed the effective suppression of GAEC1 expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cell line KYSE150 that resulted in the inhibition of cell proliferation and increase of apoptotic population. cDNA microarray analysis for identifying differentially expressed genes detected the greatest levels of downregulation of calpain 10 (CAPN10 ) and upregulation of trinucleotide repeat containing 6C (TNRC6C ) transcripts when GAEC1 expression was suppressed. At the tissue level, the high level expression of calpain 10 protein was significantly associated with longer patient survival (month) of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma compared to the patients with low level of calpain 10 expression (37.73 ±

Overexpression of kallikrein gene 10 is a biomarker for predicting poor prognosis in gastric cancer

AIM:To analyze the expression of kallikrein gene 10(KLK10)in gastric cancer and to determine whether KLK10 has independent prognostic value in gastric ***:We studied KLK10 expression in 80 histologically confirmed gastric cancer samples using realtime quantitative reverse transcription-PCR and hK10expression using *** with clinicopathological variables(lymph node metastasis,depth of invasion and histology)and with outcomes(disease-free survival and overall survival)during a median follow-up period of 31 mo were *** cancer tissues were then classified as KLK10 positive or ***:KLK10 was found to be highly expressed in 57/80(70%)of gastric cancer samples,while its expression was very low in normal gastric *** relationships between KLK10 expression and lymph node metastasis(P=0.048),depth of invasion(P=0.034)and histology(P=0.015)were *** survival analysis revealed that gastric cancer patients with positive KLK10 expression had an increased risk for relapse/metastasis and death(P=0.005 and0.002,respectively).Cox multivariate analysis indicated that KLK10 was an independent prognostic indicator of disease-free survival and overall survival in patients with gastric ***:KLK10 expression is an independent biomarker of unfavorable prognosis in patients with gastric cancer.

Clinicopathological significance of human leukocyte antigen F-associated transcript 10 expression in colorectal cancer

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC) is a common malignancy of the gastrointestinal tract. The worldwide mortality rate of CRC is about one half of its morbidity. Ubiquitin is a key regulatory factor in the cell cycle and widely exists in eukaryotes. Human leukocyte antigen F-associated transcript 10(FAT10), known as diubiquitin, is an 18 kDa protein with 29% and 36% homology with the N and C termini of ubiquitin. The function of FAT10 has not been fully elucidated, and some studies have shown that it plays an important role in various cell *** To examine FAT10 expression and to analyze the relationship between FAT10 expression and the clinicopathological parameters of *** FAT10 expression in 61 cases of CRC and para-cancer colorectal tissues was measured by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting.
