According to the specific properties of UO2 obtained by the thermal decomposition and reduction of ammonium uranyl carbonate and the experimental data analysis of dynamics, in combination with the practical experience of production, we determined to use the hydro-fluorination process of horizontal stirred furnace. The productive operations and modifications for hydro-fluorination of UO2 are mainly summarized in this paper. The dimension of a furnace cylinder is 0.16 m × 2 m and two furnaces link up in series. Gas phase reacts with solid phase in counter flow. The temperature gradient of the reaction from the feed ends of raw material UO2 the discharge and of UF4 is 250-300-400-480 °C. The UF4 content in product is greater than/or equal to 92%, and the hydrogen fluoride concentration in tail gas is 20± 5%.
