Apoptosis and hypertrophy of cardiomyocytes are the primary causes of heart failure （HF）, a global leading cause of death, and are regulated through the complicated intracellular signaling network, limiting the development of effective treatments due to its complexity. To identify effective therapeutic strategies for HF at a system level, we develop a large-scale comprehensive mathematical model of the cardiac signaling network by integrating all available experimental evidence. Attractor landscape analysis of the network model identifies distinct sets of control nodes that effectively suppress apoptosis and hypertrophy of cardiomyocytes under ischemic or pressure overload-induced HF, the two major types of HF. Intriguingly, our system-level analysis suggests that intervention of these control nodes may increase the efficacy of clinical drugs for HF and, of most importance, different combinations of control nodes are suggested as potentially effective candidate drug targets depending on the types of HF. Our study provides a systematic way of developing mechanism-based therapeutic strategies for HF.

The overall diagnostic capabilities and utility of frequency-doubling technology(FDT)in patients with primary glaucoma,which was diagnosed by standard automated perimetry(SAP)and/or optic disc appearance as the gold standard,were assessed.A comprehensive electric retrieval in MEDLINE,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,BIOSIS,Previews,HMIC,IPA,OVID,CNKI,CBMdisc,VIP information,CMCC,CCPD,SSreader,21dmedia and manual retrieval in related textbooks,journals,congress articles and their references at home and abroad were performed to identify relevant articles in English or *** corresponding references were retrieved by means of electric retrieval and manual retrieval from different databases or *** for inclusion or exclusion were established according to validity criteria for diagnostic studies published by the Cochrane Methods Group on Screening and Diagnostic *** quality of the included articles was then assessed and characteristics were *** analysis was performed with Meta Test version 0.6 software to test the heterogeneity of the included *** appropriate effects model was selected to calculate pooled weighted sensitivity and *** receiver operating characteristic(SROC)curve was drawn and the area under the curve(AUC)was ***,sensitivity analysis was ***-one studies out of 206 retrieved articles were included,with a total of 3172 *** reported sensitivity of FDT ranged from 0.51 to 1.00,and specificity from 0.58 to *** pooled weighted sensitivity and specificity of FDT with 95% confidence intervals(95% CI)after correction for standard error were 0.86(0.80–0.90)and 0.87(0.81–0.91),*** AUC of SROC was 93.01%.Sensitivity analysis demonstrated no disproportionate influences of individual *** included articles are of good quality and FDT can be a highly efficient diagnostic test for primary glaucoma based on Meta-analysis.

Three-dimensional (3-D) matched filtering has been suggested as a powerful processing technique for detecting weak, moving IR point target immersed in a noisy field. Based on the theory of the 3-D matched filtering and the optimal linear processing, the optimal point target detector is being analyzed in this paper. The performance of the detector is introduced in detail. The results provide a standard reference to evaluate the performance of any other point target detection algorithms.

There has been an increasing interest in integrating decision support systems (DSS) and expert systems (ES) to provide decision makers a more accessible, productive and domain-independent information and computing environment. This paper is aimed at designing a multiple expert systems integrated decision support system (MESIDSS) to enhance decision makers' ability in more complex cases. The basic framework, management system of multiple ESs, and functions of MESIDSS are presented. The applications of MESIDSS in large-scale decision making processes are discussed from the following aspects of problem decomposing, dynamic combination of multiple ESs, link of multiple bases and decision coordinating. Finally, a summary and some ideas for the future are presented.

Driven by considerations of sustainability, it has become increasingly difficult over the past 15-20 years -- at least intellectually -- to separate out the water infrastructure and water metabolism of cities from their intimately inter-related nutrient and energy metabolisms. Much of the focus of this difficulty settles on the wastewater component of the city＇s water infrastructure and its associated fluxes of nutrients （N, P, C, and so on）. Indeed, notwithstanding the massive volumes of these materials flowing into and out of the city, the notion of an urban nutrient infrastructure is conspicuous by its absence. Likewise, we do not tend to discuss, or conduct research into, ＂soilshed＂ agencies, or soilshed management, or Integrated Nutrient Resources Management （as opposed to its most familiar companion, Integrated Water Resources Management, or IWRM）. The paper summarizes some of the benefits （and challenges） deriving from adopting this broader, multi-sectoral ＂systems＂ perspective on addres- sing water-nutrient-energy systems in city-watershed settings. Such a perspective resonates with the growing interest in broader policy circles in what is called the ＂water-food-energy security nexus＂. The benefits and challenges of our Multi-sectoral systems analysis （MSA） are illustrated through computational results from two primary case studies： Atlanta, Georgia, USA; and London, UK. Since our work is part of the International Network on Cities as Forces for Good in the Environment （CFG; see ***）, in which other case studies are currently being initiated -- for example, on Kath- mandu, Nepal we close by reflecting upon these issues of water-nutrient-energy systems in three urban settings with quite different styles and speeds of development.

In this paper, we describe the basic principles and system design of continuous wave cavity ring-down spectroscopy （CWCRDS）. We also particularly study the nature and the behavior of a novel method to detune a laser and apply it to a cavity ring-down spectroscopy experiment. Both simulations and experiments are completed on the relation between the transmission characteristic and different refiectivities, as well as scanning speed. Output electric field equation is deduced. It has been investigated that how photons are coupled to the cavity and how to accumulate the intensity and leak out of the cavity as a function of time. It is noted that both accumulation of intensity and decay times decrease, and the oscillation amplitude increases as the reflectivity increases. Relative intensity increases with decreasing scanning velocity. Additionally, the simulations show that a non-detuned cavity displays the transmitted signals which are highly dependent on the mirror reflectivity and piezoelectric translator （PZT） modulation speed. Simulations also display that the laser switching off is different from dettming.
