Dear Editor, Diseases of the genitourinary system were the fifth most common disease of inpatients in Chinese city hospitals in 2011 （6.0%）.1 Andrology in China has grown rapidly within the last decade, however, little is known about the scientific publications by Chinese authors in andrology. We, therefore, sought to reveal the contributions of Chinese authors in three major regions of China-the Mainland （ML）, Taiwan （TW）, and Hong Kong （HK）-to the research in the fields of andrology.

During the last several years, exciting discoveries have been madein prostate cancer （PCa） as a result of significant advances in genomic technology and information. For example, using genome-wide association studies, more than 100 inherited genetic variants associated with PCa risk have been identified. Similarly, with the use of next-generation sequencing, various types of recurrent somatic DNA alterations in prostate tumors have been revealed. Some of these discoveries have potential clinical application to supplement existing tools for better decision-making regarding the need for screening, biopsy, and treatment of PCa. However, because of the complexity of these genomic findings and incomplete understanding of the genetics of this multifactorial disease, this potential has not yet been fully realized.

针对转子系统的故障特征,提出了基于多变量预测模型(variable predictive mode based class discriminate,简称VPMCD)和模糊熵的故障诊断方法。VPMCD方法是根据所提取的全部或部分特征值之间具有的某种内在关系建立预测模型,并以建立的变量预测模型进行模式识别。首先,对转子振动信号进行经验模态分解(empirical mode decomposition,简称EMD),得到若干个内禀模态函数(intrinsic mode function,简称IMF)分量;接着,提取包含主要故障信息的前几个IMF分量的模糊熵组成故障特征向量矩阵;然后,采用VPMCD方法建立预测模型;最后,通过建立的VPMCD预测模型区分转子的工作状态和故障类型。实验分析结果表明,基于VPMCD和模糊熵的故障诊断方法可以准确、有效地识别转子系统的工作状态和故障类型。

The publication of the use of an inflatable penile prosthesis （IPP） in 1973 by Dr. FB Scott. changed the world of treatment options for erectile dysfunction （ED）. Much has been written since then about techniques, improvements, management of difficult cases, complications and their management, and mechanical and device changes over time. Few reports, if any, are available in the medical literature regarding the early development, surgical techniques, and controversies surrounding its introduction to the world＇s urological community. This article is, for the most part, the observations of one who was ＂there＂ in the early and mid 1970＇s and was a witness to the history of this remarkable marvel of creativity, engineering, design, and to the personalities involved.

Dear Editor,Tuberculosis （TB） is an important health problem for global population and genitourinary TB is one of the most common extra-pulmonary TB. The clinical manifestations of renal TB tend to be low symptoms recently, which may lead to misdiagnosis and risk of renal function loss. How to improve the diagnosis rate of renal TB with low symptoms is an urgent issue to tackle. Therefore, in this study, 157 renal TB patients were collected to study for improving the diagnosis and treatment of renal TB especially for renal TB with low symptoms.

Dear Editor,Primary tumors of the seminal vesicle are extremely rare in the genitourinary system. There have only been about 70 cases reported in the literature since the first case of primary seminal vesicle carcinoma was reported in 1925 by Lyons/Seminal vesicle tumors are often difficult to diagnose at an early stage because of a lack of typical symptoms. Moreover, differentiation of the seminal vesicle mass from secondary tumor invasion into adjacent organs has also been a difficult problem for urologists. Nevertheless, accurate and prompt diagnosis of this tumor is important, since timely treatment is associated with improved long-term survival.

Dear Editor, Synovial sarcoma （SS） is a rare malignant neoplasm in young adults？ It commonly arises around the major joints or tendon sheaths. Furthermore, it has been described in numerous locations unrelated to joint structures, such as the heart, kidney, prostate, etc., which may lead to a diagnosis pitfall. Here, we present an extremely rare case of primary SS originating in the spermatic cord.
