Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)is a devastating fatal neurodegenerative disease with no ***-interacting protein kinase 1(RIPK1)has been proposed to mediate pathogenesis of *** has been identified as an old drug that can also inhibit RIPK1 *** conducted a drug-repurposing biomarker study of primidone as a RIPK1 inhibitor using SOD1G93A mice and ALS ***1G93A mice treated with primidone showed significant delay of symptomatic onset and improved motor ***-hundred-sixty-two ALS participants dosed daily with primidone(62.5 mg)completed 24-week follow-up.A significant reduction was showed in serum levels of RIPK1 and IL-8,which were significantly higher in ALS patients than that of healthy controls(P<0.0001).Serum RIPK1 levels were correlated positively with the severity of bulbar symptoms(P<0.05).Our study suggests that serum levels of RIPK1 and IL-8 in peripheral can be used as clinical biomarkers for the activation of RIPK1 in central nervous system in human ALS *** primidone may provide a promising therapeutic strategy for *** effect of primidone for the treatment of other inflammatory diseases may also be considered,since the activation of RIPK1 has been implicated in mediating a variety of inflammatory diseases including COVID-19-associated cytokine release syndrome(CRS).(ChiCTR2200060149).

Effect of Curing Procedure on the Properties of Copper-Powder-Filled Conductive Adhesives

By means of testing the shear strength with single lap joint, measuring electrical resistivity for cured products and the curing strain with strain gauges, the effect of cure parameters on the properties of HT1012 conductive adhesive filled with copper powder was investigated, and the residual stress in the conductive adhesives was also estimated. The experimental results show that the properties such as shear strength of the adhesives, electrical resistivity of products as well as the residual stress of cured HT 1012 copperfitted conductive adhesive were evidently affected by curing temperature and time. The diagrams of scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and Fourier transform infrared （FT-IR） were also used to determine the properties. The higher mechanical property was achieved under the condition of curing the adhesive 3 h at 60 ℃ as the density of the hydrogen links or linkages existed in the adhesive was relatively higher and the lower electrical resistivity occurred at 80 ℃.

Improved Sobel algorithm for defect detection of rail surfaces with enhanced efficiency and accuracy

A more effective and accurate improved Sobel algorithm has been developed to detect surface defects on heavy rails. The proposed method can make up for the mere sensitivity to X and Y directions of the Sobel algorithm by adding six templates at different directions. Meanwhile, an experimental platform for detecting surface defects consisting of the bed-jig, image-forming system with CCD cameras and light sources, parallel computer system and cable system has been constructed. The detection results of the backfin defects show that the improved Sobel algorithm can achieve an accurate and efficient positioning with decreasing interference noises to the defect edge. It can also extract more precise features and characteristic parameters of the backfin defect. Furthermore, the BP neural network adopted for defects classification with the inputting characteristic parameters of improved Sobel algorithm can obtain the optimal training precision of 0.0095827 with 106 iterative steps and time of 3 s less than Sobel algorithm with 146 steps and 5 s. Finally, an enhanced identification rate of 10% for the defects is also confirmed after the Sobel algorithm is improved.

Magnetic Fe3O4@mTiO2-AIPA Microspheres for Separation of Phosphoproteins and Non-phosphoproteins

A novel phosphoprotein separation material was developed, which is constructed by a magnetic mesoporous Fe3 O4@TiO2（Fe3 O4@mTiO2） microsphere and a 5-aminoisophthalic acid（AIPA） monolayer that provides additional binding sites toward phosphate groups. The results of characteristic experiments demonstrated that Fe3 O4@mTiO2-AIPA had good dispersability, high magnetic susceptibility, and satisfactory grafting ratio of AIPA, ascribed to the large specific surface area of the inorganic substrate. Taking advantages of these features, Fe3 O4@mTiO2-AIPA was successfully utilized to separate α-casein（a typical phosphoprotein） and bovine serum albumin（BSA, a typical non-phosphoprotein） from their mixtures（molar ratio = 1:2）. Through adjusting pH and polarity of solutions, the BSA and α-casein were respectively enriched in washing fraction and elution fraction. This result displays the good potential of Fe3 O4@mTiO2-AIPA for application in phosphoprotein enrichment.

Improved Roberts operator for detecting surface defects of heavy rails with superior precision and efficiency

An experimental platform accompanying with the improved Roberts algorithm has been developed to achieve accurate and real-time edge detection of surface defects on heavy *** results of scratching defects show that the improved Roberts operator can attain accurate positioning to defect contour and get complete edge ***,a decreasing amount of interference noises as well as more precise characteristic parameters of the extracted defects can also be confirmed for the improved ***,the BP neural network adopted for defects classification with the improved Roberts operator can obtain the target training precision with 98 iterative steps and time of 2s while that of traditional Roberts operator is 118 steps and ***,an enhanced defects identification rate of 13.33%has also been confirmed after the Roberts operator is *** proposed detecting platform will be positive in producing high-quality heavy rails and guaranteeing the national transportation safety.

To improve the understanding of the relationship between silica source and organic matter accumulation,the origin of silica and its implications for organic matter enrichment in the Upper OrdovicianLower Silurian(O_(3)w-S_(1)l)black shale in western hubei Province in the middle Yangtze area,were investigated through geochemical and petrological *** results show that the O_(3)w-S_(1)l black shale is mainly composed of five lithofacies with varying graptolite abundance,total organic carbon(TOC),and silica *** silica and terrigenous siliciclastic input constitute the main silica sources in O_(3)w-S_(1)l black shale and they exhibit an upward inverse variation trend interpreted to be related to sea-level ***,with the increase in biogenic silica content or decrease in terrigenous siliciclastic input,TOC values in black shale initially rise and then fall,which is different from originally expected simple linear *** infer that organic matter enrichment and the distribution of silica from different origins are controlled by sea-level changes and variations in terrigenous input in a continental shelf with little hydrothermal *** environment with appropriate sea level and terrigenous input should be most favorable for organic matter accumulation,rather than one with excessive high sea level and less terrigenous input.

New approach for chiral separation: from polysaccharide-based materials to chirality-responsive polymers

Chiral separation that is closely related to daily life is a meaningful research. Polysaccharide-(e.g., cellulose, amylose derivatives) based chiral packing materials afford powerful chiral stationary phases(CSPs) toward a broad range of racemic compounds. However, considering the explosive growth of specific chiral drugs, the separation efficiencies of these CSPs need further improvement, which calls for new approaches and strategies. Smart polymers can change their physical or chemical properties dynamically and reversibly according to the external stimuli(e.g., thermo-, pH, solvent, ion, light, critical parameters for chromatographic separation) exerted on them, subsequently resulting in tunable changes in the macroscopic properties of materials. In addition to their excellent controllability, the introduction of chiral characteristics into the backbones or side-chains of smart polymers provides a promising route to realize reversibly conformational transition in response to the chiral analytes. This dramatic transition may significantly improve the performance of materials in chiral separation through modulating the enantioselective interactions between materials and analytes. With the help of chirality-responsive polymers, intelligent and switchable CSPs could be developed and applied in column-liquid chromatography. In these systems, the elution order or enantioselectivity of chiral drugs can be precisely modulated, which will help to solve many challenging problems that involve complicated enantiomers. In this paper we introduce some typical examples of smart polymers that serve as the basis for a discussion of emerging developments of CPSs, and then briefly outline the recent CSPs based on natural and certain synthetic polymers.
