Leaves are the main organs of photosynthesis in green plants. Leaf area plays a vital role in dry matter accumulation and grain yield in maize （Zea mays L.）. Thus, investigating the genetic basis of leaf area will aid efforts to breed maize with high yield. In this study, a total of 150 f7 recombinant inbred lines （RILs） derived from a cross between the maize lines Xu 178 and K12 were used to evaluate three ear-leaves area （TELA） under multi-environments. Inclusive composite interval map- ping （ICIM） was used to identify quantitative trait loci （QTLs） for TELA under a single environment and estimated breeding value （EBV）. A total of eight QTLs were detected under a single environmental condition, and four QTLs were identified for EBV which also can be detected in single environment. This indicated that the EBV-detected QTLs have high genetic stability. A major QTL （qTELA_2-9） located in chromosome bin 2.04/2.05 could be detected in four environments and has a high phenotypic contribution rate （ranging from 10.79 to 16.51%） that making it a good target for molecular breeding. In addition, joint analysis was used to reveal the genetic basis of leaf area in six environments. In total, six QTLxenvironment interactions and nine epistatic interactions were identified. Our results reveal that the genetic basis of the leaf area is not only mainly determined by additive effects, but also affected by epistatic effects environmental interaction effects.

This paper investigates the stability of the francis hydro-turbine governing system with complex penstocks in the grid-connected mode. firstly, a novel fractional-order nonlinear mathematical model of a francis hydro-turbine governing system with complex penstocks is built from an engineering application perspective. This model is described by state-space equations and is composed of the francis hydro-turbine model, the fractional-order complex penstocks model, the third-order generator model, and the hydraulic speed governing system model. Based on stability theory for a fractional-order nonlinear system, this study discovers a basic law of the bifurcation points of the above system with a change in the fractional-order a. Secondly, the stable region of the governing system is investigated in detail,and nonlinear dynamical behaviors of the system are identified and studied exhaustively via bifurcation diagrams, time waveforms, phase orbits, Poincare maps, power spectrums and spectrograms. Results of these numerical experiments provide a theoretical reference for further studies of the stability of hydropower stations.

Research on on-line diagnosis method of crack behavior abnormality in concrete dams can provide support for timely grasping abnormality state of the crack itself and achieving real-time monitoring of the dam *** that samples of crack effects in concrete dams increase actually over monitoring time,a superiority criterion for the on-line diagnosis is determined so as to detect the abnormality moments timely and *** integrating the safety monitoring statistical model of crack effect variable with change point theory,a fluctuation method of regression coefficients is established for the on-line *** addition,each abnormality moment is detected by the cumulative sum of regression model *** indicate that abnormality of crack behavior in concrete dams can be characterized by structural instability of crack monitoring *** causes of crack behavior abnormality can be analyzed by the established method,which will play an important role in dam safety ***,taking the crack in a concrete gravity-arch dam as an example,the scientific rationality and validity of the established on-line diagnosis method are confirmed.

Root–shoot communication has a critical role in plant adaptation to environmental *** is widely applied to enhance the abiotic stress tolerance of many horticultural crop species;however,the signal transduction mechanism involved in this tolerance remains ***,we show that pumpkin-or figleaf gourd rootstock-enhanced cold tolerance of watermelon shoots is accompanied by increases in the accumulation of melatonin,methyl jasmonate(MeJA),and hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)).Increased melatonin levels in leaves were associated with both increased melatonin in rootstocks and MeJA-induced melatonin biosynthesis in leaves of plants under cold *** melatonin increased the accumulation of MeJA and H_(2)O_(2) and enhanced cold tolerance,while inhibition of melatonin accumulation attenuated rootstock-induced MeJA and H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold *** application induced H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance,but inhibition of JA biosynthesis abolished rootstock-or melatonin-induced H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold ***,inhibition of H_(2)O_(2) production attenuated MeJA-induced tolerance to cold *** together,our results suggest that melatonin is involved in grafting-induced cold tolerance by inducing the accumulation of MeJA and H_(2)O_(2).MeJA subsequently increases melatonin accumulation,forming a self-amplifying feedback loop that leads to increased H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold *** study reveals a novel regulatory mechanism of rootstock-induced cold tolerance.

A novel red-emitting phosphor tantalate Ca_(2)YTaO_(6):Eu^(3+)was synthesized by a solid-state *** purity and surface morphology of the phosphors were *** Ca_(2)YTaO_(6):Eu^(3+)phosphors show a sharp emission peak at 612 nm under near-ultraviolet(n-UV) at 395 nm because of the ^(5)D0→^(7)f_(2) transition of Eu^(3+).The optimal Eu^(3+)doping concentration in Ca_(2)YTaO_(6) is 40 mol% and the critical energy-transfer distance of Eu^(3+)ions was calculated to be 0.9 *** emission spectra of Ca_(2)YTaO_(6):Eu_(3+)from 300 to 480 K were *** thermal-quenching temperature(T_(0.5)) of Ca_(2)YTaO_(6):Eu^(3+)is above 480 *** color purity of Ca_(2)YTaO_(6):40 mol%Eu^(3+)is as high as 99.8%.The luminescence lifetime of Ca_(2)YTaO_(6):40 mol%Eu^(3+)was also *** high color purity and high thermal stability of Eu^(3+)-doped Ca_(2)YTaO_(6) phosphors contribute to its application value in white lightemitting diodes(w-LEDs).

The red flesh in apple fruit is a desired trait by consumers and it is associated to the anthocyanin content,which is mainly controlled by MdMYB10 with a R6 *** this study,a high-density linkage group was constructed using the‘fuji’x‘Red3’population which contained homozygous alleles R1R1 and R6R6,*** linkage group consists of 7630 SNPs along 17 linkage groups,spanning 2270.21 cM,with an average density of 0.30 cM *** cyanidin-3-galactoside concentration was used as the phenotypic data in QTL ***,one QTL peak which was flaked by two markers,marker2187260 to marker2173766,with LOD scores of 4.49 was *** QTL ranged from 0 to 40.79 cM on the top of linkage group(LG16).In addition one candidate molecular marker(marker2175442)in this QTL was identified,which was significant correlated with the flesh cyanidin-3-galactoside *** genetic findings enrich the breeding basis of fruit flesh coloration in apple.
