Connection of the prefabricated updeck of road tunnels by a short lap-spliced joint using ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete

Prefabricated internal structures of road tunnels,consisting of precast elements and the connections between them,provide advantages in terms of quality control and manufacturing ***,the limited construction space in tunnels creates challenges for on-site *** identify feasible connecting joints,flexural tests of precast straight beams connected by welding-spliced or lap-spliced reinforcements embedded in normal concrete or ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete(UHPFRC)are first performed and *** an improvement in the strength grade of the closure concrete for the lap-spliced joint,the failure of the beam transforms from a brittle splitting mode to a ductile flexural *** beam connected by UHPFRC100 with short lap-spliced reinforcements can achieve almost equivalent mechanical performance in terms of the bearing capacity,ductility,and stiffness as the beam connected by normal concrete with welding-spliced *** favorable solution is then applied to the connection of neighboring updeck slabs resting on columns in a double-deck *** applicability is validated by flexural tests of T-shaped joints,which,fail in a ductile fashion dominated by the ultimate bearing capacity of the precast elements,similar to the corresponding straight *** utilization of UHPFRC significantly reduces the required lap-splice length of reinforcements owing to its strong bonding strength.

This review of the added value of multi-scale modeling of concrete is based on three representative *** first one is concerned with the analysis of experimental data,taken from four high-dynamic *** structural nature of the high-dynamic strength increase can be explained by using a multi-scale *** accounts for the microstructure of the *** second example refers to multi-scale thermoelastic analysis of concrete pavements,subjected to solar heating.A sensitivity analysis with respect to the internal relative humidity(RH)of concrete has underlined the great importance of the RH for an assessment of the risk of microcracking of *** third example deals with multi-scale structural analysis of a real-scale test of a segmental tunnel *** has turned out that multi-scale modeling of concrete enables more reliable predictions of crack opening displacements in tunnel segments than macroscopic models taken from codes of ***,it is concluded that multi-scale models have indeed a significant added ***,its degree varies with these *** any case,it can be assessed by means of a comparison of the results from three sources,namely,multi-scale structural analysis,conventional structural analysis,and experiments.

Immune cells play a crucial regulatory role in inflammatory phase and proliferative phase during skin *** to programmatically activate sequential immune responses is the key for scarless skin *** this study,an“Inner-Outer”IL-10-loaded electrospun fiber with cascade release behavior was *** the inflammatory phase,the electrospun fiber released a lower concentration of IL-10 within the wound,inhibiting excessive recruitment of inflammatory cells and polarizing macrophages into anti-inflammatory phenotype“M2c”to suppress excessive inflammation *** the proliferative phase,a higher concentration of IL-10 released by the fiber and the anti-fibrotic cytokines secreted by polarized“M2c”directly acted on dermal fibroblasts to simultaneously inhibit extracellular matrix overdeposition and promote fibroblast ***“Inner-Outer”IL-10-loaded electrospun fiber programmatically activated the sequential immune responses during wound healing and led to scarless skin regeneration,which is a promising immunomodulatory biomaterial with great potential for promoting complete tissue regeneration.
