Effects of BN on the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of PP/BN Composites

In order to explore the thermal conductivity of polypropylene(PP)/hexagonal boron nitride(BN) composites,PP composites filled with different proportions of BN were prepared through extrution compounding,injection moulding and compression *** composites were filled with BN particles of 5 and 20 μm respectively,and their mass fractions in composites were *** of BN was varied from 0 to 25wt% in steps of 5wt%.The effects of BN filler on mechanical properties of the composites were *** thermal behaviors were studied using DSC and TGA,and the thermal conductivity was also investigated by Laser Flash Device and the Model of 3D Heat Conduction *** experimental results show that impact strength of PP/BN can be enhanced with the addition of BN,but that composites exhibit lower breaking elongation & tensile strength when compared to unfilled *** is found that mass fraction of BN influenced the final thermal stability and degree of crystallization of PP matrix,the degree of crystallization of PP with 15wt% of 20 μm BN can be improved by 25% than neat ***,crystallization temperatures of PP composites are elevated by about 10 ℃.The thermal conductivity results demonstrate that the maximum value of the thermal conductivity is achieved from PP/BN with 20wt% of 20 μm BN,higher than that of pure PP by 95.65%,close to the simulation one.

Challenges and prospects for room temperature solid-state sodiumsulfur batteries

Room temperature sodium-sulfur(Na-S)batteries,known for their high energy density and low cost,are one of the most promising next-generation energy storage ***,the polysulfide shuttling and uncontrollable Na dendrite growth as well as safety issues caused by the use of organic liquid electrolytes in Na-S cells,have severely hindered their ***-state electrolytes instead of liquid electrolytes are considered to be the most direct and effective solution to solve the above ***,its practical application is still greatly challenged due to the poor interfacial compatibility between the all-solid-state electrolytes and the anode/cathode,ionic conductivity,and the shuttle effect caused by the presence of liquid phase in the quasi-solid-state *** paper presents a comprehensive review of solid-state Na-S batteries from the perspective of regulating interfacial compatibility and improving ionic conductivity as well as suppressing polysulfide *** to different components,solid-state electrolytes were divided into five categories:solid inorganic electrolytes,solid polymer electrolytes,polymer/inorganic solid hybrid electrolytes,gel polymer electrolytes,and liquid–solid inorganic hybrid ***,the prospect of developing high performance solid-state electrolytes to improve the cycling stability of room temperature Na-S cells is envisaged.

Microplastic and Heavy Metals Distributions in Urban Rivers Sediments, China

This study investigated the distribution of microplastics and heavy metals, along with the interaction between the two in the sediments of urban rivers in China. Results showed that the abundance of microplastics ranged from 2412 +/- 187.5 to 7638 +/- 1312 items kg-1 dry sediment across different survey stations, with an average abundance at (4388 +/- 713) items kg-1 dry sediment. Upon further categorization, it was found that transparent fragments were the primary color and type of microplastics present. The potential ecological risk index (RI) of heavy metals in sediments suggested a low level of ecological risk within a majority of the urban rivers studied. Cd was identified as the main potential ecological risk factor in the sediments of the studied areas. There was a relatively good significant linear relationship between the RI of heavy metals and the abundance of microplastics, bolstering the linkage between these two environmental pollutants. However, the concentrations of heavy metals in microplastics were not dependent on their corresponding contents in sediments. In fact, the concentration of Cu, Cd, and As in microplastics were higher than those in the sediments. This finding confirmed that microplastics could serve as carriers of heavy metals and introduce potential risks to aquatic wildlife and human through the food chain.

Peculiar influence of linearly polarized spectrum illumination patterns on the sensitivity characteristics of locust response to polarized light

This study investigated the influence of different linearly polarized spectrum lights on locusts polartactic response characteristics linearly polarized vector sensitivity mode and polartactic response) by using linearly polarized spectrum vector light module and experimental device. The objective was to clarify the vector sensitivity characteristics and functional effect of linearly polarized light spectrum intensity on locusts polartactic response, determine the influence specificity of linearly polarized spectrum illumination properties on locusts polarization-related behavior. When spectrum and illumination were constant, locusts polartactic response, presenting the response feature of sine and cosine function change specificity, was related to spectrum attribute. The visual acuity effect stimulated by violet spectrum was the best, whereas the optical distance modulation effect induced by orange spectrum was the strongest. When illumination was enhanced, locusts vector sensitivity mode shifted to present the specific sensitivity prompted by light intensity at long distance and inhibited by light intensity at short distance. Moreover, the regulating function of violet spectrum was the strongest, and the regulatory mutation effect of orange spectrum was the least significant. Simultaneously, locusts polartactic sensitivity to 300 degrees vector at 100 lx, whereas to 240 degrees vector at 1000 lx of linearly polarized violet light was the strongest. Locusts polartactic aggregation and visual tendency sensitivity to 90 degrees vector at 100 lx, whereas to 270 degrees vector at 1000 lx of linearly polarized violet light was the strongest. The heterogeneous regulation function of different linearly polarized spectrum couplings with light intensity led to significant variations in locusts vector sensitivity mode. Eliminating H_(2)O/HF and regulating interphase with bifunctional tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate(TDI)additive for long life Li-ion battery

Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)featuring a Ni-rich cathode exhibit increased specific capacity,but the establishment of a stable interphase through the implementation of a functional electrolyte strategy remains *** when the battery is operated under high temperature,the trace water present in the electrolyte will accelerate the hydrolysis of the electrolyte and the resulting HF will further erode the *** order to enhance the long-term cycling performance of graphite/LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)(NCM811)LIBs,herein,Tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate(TDI)additive containing lone-pair electrons is employed to formulate a novel bifunctional electrolyte aimed at eliminating H_(2)O/HF generated at elevated *** 1000 cycles at 25℃,the battery incorporating the TDI-containing electrolyte exhibits an impressive capacity retention of 94%at 1 *** contrast,the battery utilizing the blank electrolyte has a lower capacity retention of only 78%.Furthermore,after undergoing 550 cycles at 1 C under45℃,the inclusion of TDI results in a notable enhancement of capacity,increasing it from 68%to 80%.This indicates TDI has a favorable influence on the cycling performance of LIBs,especially at elevated *** analysis of the film formation mechanism suggests that the lone pair of electrons of the isocyanate group in TDI play a crucial role in inhibiting the generation of H_(2)O and HF,which leads to the formation of a thin and dense *** existence of this interphase is thought to substantially enhance the cycling performance of the *** work not only improves the performance of graphite/NCM811 batteries at room temperature and high temperature by eliminating H_(2)O/HF but also presents a novel strategy for advancing functional electrolyte development.

Chemical composition evaluation and pyrolysis behavior of biomass tar: Pyrolysis experiment and kinetic studies

Biomass gasification process generates the residual tar, which in turn exerts some negative influence on biomass gasification system. To reduce this harmful influence, an evaluation of the tar properties during the biomass gasification was studied. The chemical composition and pyrolysis behavior of biomass tar were investigated. The complex chemical composition of the tar, which includes phenol derivatives, naphthalene derivatives, other macromolecular aromatic compounds, furans, and other compounds (carbon number from 7 to 14), was established by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry technique. Thermogravimetric analysis was performed with two heating rates (10 degrees C/min and 20 degrees C/min), and Coats-Redfern method was applied to assess the kinetic parameters, i.e., the activation energy (E) and pre-exponential factor (A) of tar thermochemical decomposition. The results showed that the main degradation of tar is a two-step process, including a volatilization step at lower temperatures (<105 degrees C) and a pyrolysis step at higher temperatures (105 degrees C-380 degrees C). The application of the CoatsRedfern method revealed a variation trend of the activation energy during the decomposition of tar in a non-isothermal model. It shows that high temperature is more conducive to tar pyrolysis. By adjusting the temperature to control the generation and removal of tar, new approaches are provided for designing and optimizing biomass gasification systems.
