The response and anti-stress mechanisms of nitrifying sludge under long-term exposure to Cd Se quantum dots

The wide application of CdSe quantum dots(QDs)increases its stress risk to sewage treatment systems.This study evaluated the response of nitrification performance,floc characteristics and microbial community of nitrifying sludge under long-term exposure to CdSe QDs.Results showed CdSe QDs(≥1 mg/L)would decrease the activity of ammonia monooxygenase(AMO).Under the stress of 30 mg/L CdSe QDs,the activity of AMO was reduced by 66%,while the activities of hydroxylamine oxidase and nitrite oxidoreductase were enhanced by 19.1%and 26%,respectively.Thus,the final nitrification effects were not adversely affected,and the production rates of NO_(2)^(-)-N and NO_(3)^(-)-N were accelerated.Additionally,CdSe QDs improved biomass concentration in sludge and maintained the stability of sludge settleability.High throughput sequencing analysis showed that CdSe QDs evidently reduced the abundance and diversity of microbial community in nitrifying sludge.The abundances of amino acid metabolism and lipid metabolism were enriched.Moreover,CdSe QDs decreased the fluorescence intensity of tryptophan-like protein from 2,326 to 1,179 a.***.in loosely bound extracellular polymeric substances(EPSs)and from 3,792 to 3,117 a.***.in tightly bound EPSs.To relieve CdSe QD stress,the polysaccharide content increased from0.31 to 0.61 mg/g MLSS and intracellular antioxidant defense was activated.With CdSe QD level increasing to 30 mg/L,the total antioxygenic capacity and the activities of catalase were enhanced up to 411%and 143.2%,respectively.Thereby,CdSe QDs had little adverse effects on cell membrane integrity,microbial metabolism and the abundance of Nitrospirae.

Preparation and Swelling Kinetic Analysis of Poly (HPMC-co-AA-co-AM) Super Absorbent Resin

Super absorbent resin(SAR)is prepared by aqueous high temperature polymerization using hydroxypropyl methylcellulose(HPMC)as monomer backbone material,acrylic acid(AA)and acrylamide(AM)as the graft copolymer monomer,potassium persulfate(KPS)as the initiator to generate free radicals,and N,N`-methylenebisacrylamide(MBA)as cross-linking agent for cross-linking reaction.Simutaneously,the influence of individual factors on the water absorption is investigated,and these factors are mainly AA,AM,KPS,MBA,HPMC,and reaction temperature.The optimized conditions are obtained by the experiment repeating for several times.The water absorption multiplicity and salt absorption multiplicity under the conditions are 782.4 and 132.5 g/g,respectivity.Furthermore,the effects of different temperatures and salt concentrations on its water absorption,as well as the swelling kinetics of SAR are studied.It is indicated the water-absorbing swelling process is mainly caused by the difference in water osmotic pressure and Na+concentration inside and outside the cross-linked molecular structure of the resin,which is not only consistent with the quasi-secondary kinetic model,but also with the Fick diffusion model.

Photocatalytic technology with sunlight as driving force can convert solar energy into other energy sources for storage and further use.Cadmium sulfide(CdS),as a typical reducing semiconductor of metal sulfides,represents an interesting research hotspot in photocatalysis due to its suitable bandgap(2.4 eV)for utilizing visible light and strong reducing ability for inducing surface catalytic reactions.Unfortunately,the photocatalytic performance of CdS is still limited by its fast carrier recombination and serious pho-tocorrosion.So far,CdS semiconductor has been widely developed as a typical reducing photocatalyst in constructing novel S-scheme heterojunction to overcome the above drawbacks.In this review,the de-sign concepts,basic principles,and charge transfer characteristics of CdS-based S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts have been comprehensively introduced.Several advanced and effective characterization methods for studying the mechanism of CdS-based S-scheme heterojunction are analyzed in detail.Fur-thermore,we also summarize the typical applications of CdS-based S-scheme heterojunctions for water splitting,CO_(2) reduction,pollutant degradation,etc.Eventually,according to the current investigation sta-tus,some drawbacks in the current synthetic strategy,mechanism exploration,and application prospect of CdS-based S-scheme heterojunction are proposed,which need to be addressed by further expansion and innovative research.

Co_(3)S_(4)-pyrolysis lotus fiber flexible textile as a hybrid electrocatalyst for overall water splitting

Electrocatalytic overall water splitting(OWS),a pivotal approach in addressing the global energy crisis,aims to produce hydrogen and oxygen.However,most of the catalysts in powder form are adhesively bounding to the electrodes,resulting in catalyst detachment by bubble generation and other uncertain interference,and eventually reducing the OWS performance.To surmount this challenge,we synthesized a hybrid material of Co_(3)S_(4)-pyrolysis lotus fiber(labeled as Co_(3)S_(4)-p LF)textile by hydrothermal and hightemperature pyrolysis processes for electrocatalytic OWS.Owing to the natural LF textile exposing the uniformly distributed functional groups(AOH,ANH_(2),etc.)to anchor Co_(3)S_(4)nanoparticles with hierarchical porous structure and outstanding hydrophily,the hybrid Co_(3)S_(4)-p LF catalyst shows low overpotentials at 10 m A cm^(-2)(η_(10,HER)=100 m Vη_(10,OER)=240 mV)alongside prolonged operational stability during electrocatalytic reactions.Theoretical calculations reveal that the electron transfer from p LF to Co_(3)S_(4)in the hybrid Co_(3)S_(4)-p LF is beneficial to the electrocatalytic process.This work will shed light on the development of nature-inspired carbon-based materials in hybrid electrocatalysts for OWS.

Convolutional neural network adaptation and optimization method in SIMT computing mode

For studying and optimizing the performance of general-purpose computing on graphics processing units(GPGPU)based on single instruction multiple threads(SIMT)processor about the neural network application,this work contributes a self-developed SIMT processor named Pomelo and correlated assembly program.The parallel mechanism of SIMT computing mode and self-developed Pomelo processor is briefly introduced.A common convolutional neural network(CNN)is built to verify the compatibility and functionality of the Pomelo processor.CNN computing flow with task level and hardware level optimization is adopted on the Pomelo processor.A specific algorithm for organizing a Z-shaped memory structure is developed,which addresses reducing memory access in mass data computing tasks.Performing the above-combined adaptation and optimization strategy,the experimental result demonstrates that reducing memory access in SIMT computing mode plays a crucial role in improving performance.A 6.52 times performance is achieved on the 4 processing elements case.

Design and implementation of a multi-tile parallel scanning rasterization accelerator

In the design of a graphic processing unit(GPU),the processing speed of triangle rasterization is an important factor that determines the performance of the GPU.An architecture of a multi-tile parallel-scan rasterization accelerator was proposed in this paper.The accelerator uses a bounding box algorithm to improve scanning efficiency.It rasterizes multiple tiles in parallel and scans multiple lines at the same time within each tile.This highly parallel approach drastically improves the performance of rasterization.Using the 65 nm process standard cell library of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation(SMIC),the accelerator can be synthesized to a maximum clock frequency of 220 MHz.An implementation on the Genesys2 field programmable gate array(FPGA)board fully verifies the functionality of the accelerator.The implementation shows a significant improvement in rendering speed and efficiency and proves its suitability for high-performance rasterization.

Preparation of a Novel Green Fluorescent Carbon Quantum Dots and Application in Fe^(3+)-Specific Detection in Biological System

Trace ferric ion(Fe^(3+))detection has attracted increasing attention as an essential and indispensable role in many physiological and pathological research.The green-emitting carbon quantum dots(Green-CQDs)were obtained through a green and facile one-step hydrothermal method for the specific recognition and trace detection of Fe^(3+)in this paper.The optimal excitation and emission wavelengths of the CQDs were 395 nm and 490 nm,respectively.The stokes shift was up to 95 nm,which can effectively reduce the background fluorescence interference.In addition,it also exhibited good water solubility,stability,and high biocompatibility.The fluorescence intensity of Green-CQDs was linearly related to the concentration of Fe^(3+)(range of 0-80μmol/L),and the detection limit was as low as 59 nmol/L.These good properties were favorable and successful for Fe^(3+)detection in tap water,human serum samples and living cells.In addition,a fluorescence visual test paper(FP@CQDs)was prepared utilizing filter paper as carrier,which can quickly identify Fe^(3+)in real time,and is suitable for the visualization analysis of Fe^(3+)in environment.As an efficient nanoprobe,the Green-CQDs held great promise and bright prospects in practical application in prevention and early clinical diagnosis of Fe^(3+)-associated diseases.

Actinobacterial community is a conspicuous part of aquatic ecosystems and displays an important role in the case of biogeochemical cycle,but little is known about the seasonal variation of actinobacterial community in reservoir ecological environment.In this study,the high-throughput techniques were used to investigate the structure of the aquatic actinobacterial community and its inducing water quality parameters in different seasons.The results showed that the highest diversity and abundance of actinobacterial community occurred in winter,with Sporichthya(45.42%)being the most abundant genus and Rhodococcus sp.(29.32%)being the most abundant species.Network analysis and correlation analysis suggested that in autumn the dynamics of actinobacterial community were infuenced by more factors and Nocardioides sp.SX2R5S2 was the potential keystone species which was negatively correlated with temperature(R=-0.72,Pscientific guidance for further water quality management and protection in water sources.

Dual-wavelength pumped latticed Fermi-Pasta-Ulam recurrences in nonlinear Schrödinger equation

We show that the nonlinear stage of the dual-wavelength pumped modulation instability(MI)in nonlinear Schrödinger equation(NLSE)can be effectively analyzed by mode truncation methods.The resulting complicated heteroclinic structure of instability unveils all possible dynamic trajectories of nonlinear waves.Significantly,the latticed-Fermi-Pasta-Ulam recurrences on the modulated-wave background in NLSE are also investigated and their dynamic trajectories run along the Hamiltonian contours of the heteroclinic structure.It is demonstrated that there has much richer dynamic behavior,in contrast to the nonlinear waves reported before.This novel nonlinear wave promises to inject new vitality into the study of MI.

Cellular metabolism is an intricate network satisfying bioenergetic and biosynthesis requirements of cells.Relevant studies have been constantly making inroads in our understanding of pathophysiology,and inspiring development of therapeutics.As a crucial component of epigenetics at post-transcription level,RNA modification significantly determines RNA fates,further affecting various biological processes and cellular phenotypes.To be noted,immunometabolism defines the metabolic alterations occur on immune cells in different stages and immunological contexts.In this review,we characterize the distribution features,modifying mechanisms and biological functions of 8 RNA modifications,including N6-methyladenosine(m6A),N6,2'-O-dimethyladenosine(m6Am),N1-methyladenosine(m1A),5-methylcytosine(m5C),N4-acetylcytosine(ac4C),N7-methylguanosine(m7G),Pseudouridine(V),adenosine-to-inosine(A-to-l)editing,which are relatively the most studied types.Then regulatory roles of these RNA modification on metabolism in diverse health and disease contexts are comprehensively described,categorized as glucose,lipid,amino acid,and mitochondrial metabolism.And we highlight the regulation of RNA modifications on immunometabolism,further influencing immune responses.Above all,we provide a thorough discussion about clinical implications of RNA modification in metabolism-targeted therapy and immunotherapy,progression of RNA modification-targeted agents,and its potential in RNAtargeted therapeutics.Eventually,we give legitimate perspectives for future researches in this field from methodological requirements,mechanistic insights,to therapeutic applications.
