Confined interface engineering of self-supported Cu@N-doped graphene for electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction with enhanced selectivity towards ethanol

Electroreduction of greenhouse gas CO_(2) into value-added fuels and chemicals provides a promising pathway to address the issues of energy crisis and environmental ***,the regulations of the selectivity towards C2 product and the competing hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)are major challenges for CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR).Here,we develop an interface-enhanced strategy by depositing a thin layer of nitrogen-doped graphene(N-G)on a Cu foam surface(Cu-N-G)to selectively promote the ethanol pathway in CO_(2)*** to the undetectable ethanol selectivity of pure Cu and Cu@graphene(Cu-G),Cu-N-G has boosted the ethanol selectivity to 33.1%in total Faradic efficiency(FE)at−0.8 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE).The experimental and density functional theory(DFT)results verify that the interconnected graphene coating can not only serve as the fast charge transport channel but also provide confined nanospace for mass *** N doping can not only trigger the intrinsic interaction between N in N-G and CO_(2) molecule for enriching the local concentration of reactants but also promote the average valence state of Cu for C–C coupling *** confinement effect at the interface of Cu-N-G can not only provide high adsorbed hydrogen(Had)coverage but also stabilize the key*HCCHOH intermediate towards ethanol *** provided interface-enhanced strategy herein is expected to inspire the design of Cubased CO_(2)RR electrocatalysts towards multi-carbon products.

We theoretically and experimentally studied the Gilbert damping evolution of both acoustic and optical magnetic resonance modes in the layered flake Cr Cl;with an external magnetic field H applied in *** on a Lagrangian equation and a Rayleigh dissipation function,we predicted that the resonance linewidth△H as a function of microwave frequencyωis nonlinear for both acoustic and optical modes in the Cr Cl;flake,which is significantly different from the linear relationship of△H-ωin *** the microwave transmission through the Cr Cl;flake,we obtained theω–H dispersion and damping evolution△H–ωfor both acoustic and optical *** both our theoretical prediction and experimental observations,we concluded that the nonlinear damping evolution△H–ωis a consequence of the interlayer interaction during the antiferromagnetic resonance,and the interlayer Gilbert dissipation plays an important role in the nonlinear damping evolution because of the asymmetry of the non-collinear magnetizaiton between layers.

A Finite Difference Scheme for Solving the Undamped Timoshenko Beam Equations with Both Ends Free

In this paper, a boundary feedback system of a class of non-uniform undamped Timoshenko beam with both ends free is considered. A linearized three-level difference scheme for the Timoshenko beam equations is derived by the method of reduction of order on uniform meshes. The unique solvability, unconditional stability and convergence of the difference scheme are proved by the discrete energy method. The convergence order in maximum norm is of order two in both space and time. The validity of this theoretical analysis is verified experimentally.

Chondroitin Polymerizing Factor (CHPF) promotes cell proliferation and tumor growth in human osteosarcoma by inhibiting SKP2's ubiquitination while activating the AKT pathway

Osteosarcoma is a common malignant tumor occurring in children and young adults. Chondroitin sulfate (CS) participates in cell adhesion, cell division, and the formation of neural networks in the body, the biosynthesis of which requires the participation of glycosyltransferases. CHPF, a glycosyltransferase, plays a role in the extension of CS. Recently, CHPF's biological roles and functional importance in human diseases including malignant tumors have been widely discussed. However, whether CHPF is involved in osteosarcoma development and growth has not been revealed. The present work aimed to investigate the expression levels, functional significance and molecular mechanism of CHPF in osteosarcoma progression. Our results revealed that CHPF is strongly expressed in osteosarcoma tissues and cells. Furthermore, CHPF serves as a tumor promoter in the development and progression of osteosarcoma through enhancing cell proliferation and migration while suppressing apoptosis. Exploration of the mechanism by which CHPF promotes osteosarcoma indicated that CHPF promotes osteosarcoma through counteracting SKP2's ubiquitination and activating the Akt signaling pathway. For the first time, we clarified the roles of CHPF in osteosarcoma, and our results suggested that CHPF might be a novel therapeutic target in the treatment strategies for osteosarcoma.

Effect of crystallographic orientations on transport properties of methylthiol-terminated permethyloligosilane molecular junction

The understanding of the influence of electrode characteristics on charge transport is essential in the field of molecular *** this work,we investigate the electronic transport properties of molecular junctions comprising methylthiolterminated permethyloligosilanes and face-centered crystal Au/Ag electrodes with crystallographic orientations of(111)and(100),based on the ab initio quantum transport *** calculations reveal that the molecular junction conductance is dominated by the electronic coupling between two interfacial metal–S bonding states,which can be tuned by varying the molecular length,metal material of the electrodes,and crystallographic *** the permethyloligosilane backbone elongates,although theσconjugation increases,the decreasing of coupling induced by the increasing number of central Si atoms reduces the junction *** molecular junction conductance of methylthiol-terminated permethyloligosilanes with Au electrodes is higher than that with Ag electrodes with a crystallographic orientation of(111).However,the conductance trend is reversed when the electrode crystallographic orientation varies from(111)to(100),which can be ascribed to the reversal of interfacial coupling between two metal–S interfacial *** findings are conducive to elucidating the mechanism of molecular junctions and improving the transport properties of molecular devices by adjusting the electrode characteristics.

Adsorption of glycine at the anatase TiO_(2)/water interface: Effects of Ca^(2+) ions

Adsorption reactions of amino acids(AAs)on TiO_(2) nanoparticles(NPs)play an important role in the available nutrients in soils and *** pH effects on glycine adsorption have been studied,but little is known about its coadsorption with Ca^(2+)at the molecular *** attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared(ATR-FTIR)flow-cell measurements and density functional theory(DFT)calculationswere used to determine the surface complex and corresponding dynamic adsorption/desorption *** structures of glycine adsorbed onto TiO_(2) were closely associated with its dissolved species in the solution *** presence of Ca^(2+)exerted different influences on glycine adsorption within pH 4−11,thus affecting its migration rate in soils and *** mononuclear bidentate complex at pH 4−7,involving the COO−moiety of zwitterionic glycine,remained unchanged in the absence and presence of Ca^(2+).At pH 11,the mononuclear bidentate complex with deprotonated NH2 can be removed from the TiO_(2) surface upon coadsorption with Ca^(2+).The bonding strength of glycine on TiO_(2) was much weaker than that of the Ca-bridged ternary surface *** adsorption was inhibited at pH 4 but was enhanced at pH 7 and 11.

Adaptive Gaussian sum squared-root cubature Kalman filter with split-merge scheme for state estimation

The paper deals with state estimation problem of nonlinear non-Gaussian discrete dynamic systems for improvement of accuracy and consistency. An efficient new algorithm called the adaptive Gaussian-sum square-root cubature Kalman filter（AGSSCKF） with a split-merge scheme is proposed. It is developed based on the squared-root extension of newly introduced cubature Kalman filter（SCKF） and is built within a Gaussian-sum framework. Based on the condition that the probability density functions of process noises and initial state are denoted by a Gaussian sum using optimization method, a bank of SCKF are used as the sub-filters to estimate state of system with the corresponding weights respectively, which is adaptively updated. The new algorithm consists of an adaptive splitting and merging procedure according to a proposed split-decision model based on the nonlinearity degree of measurement. The results of two simulation scenarios（one-dimensional state estimation and bearings-only tracking） show that the proposed filter demonstrates comparable performance to the particle filter with significantly reduced computational cost.

Simulation Analysis and Experimental Study of Defect Detection Underwater by ACFM Probe

This article studies the application of the alternating current field measurement （ACFM） method in defect detection for underwater structures. Numerical model of the ACFM system is built for structure surface defect detection in seawater environment. Finite element simulation is performed to investigate rules and characteristics of the electromagnetic signal distribution in the defected area. In respect of the simulation results, underwater artificial crack detection experiments are designed and conducted for the ACFM system. The experiment results show that the ACFM system can detect cracks in underwater structures and the detection accuracy is higher than 85%. This can meet the engineering requirement of underwater structure defect detection. The results in this article can be applied to establish technical foundation for the optimization and development of ACFM based underwater structure defects detection system.

Solid particle size characterization by a high-frequency collision response in pneumatic particulate flow

A novel triaxial vibration method is developed for the real-time characterization of the solid particle size distribution(PsD)in pneumatic particulate flow,which is critical for chemical *** this work,the particle-wall collision and friction behaviours were analysed by the time-domain statistical and timefrequency joint methods to narrow the high-frequency response range by the initial experiment of free fall for a single particle,interparticle,and multiple ***,verification experiments of PSD characterization in pneumatic flow were ***,the quantitative triaxial energy response model that considers the particle size,shape,and mass factors were ***,a good agreement of the particle number identification was found between the triaxial vibration energy and mean particle size of 150-550μ***,the performance with the best accuracy was focused on a range of 42-43 kHz in the x-axis and z-axis and 36.8-38.8 kHz in the ***,the individual particle energy was inversely analysed by the triaxial vibration response within the optimized frequency bands,and the PSD was characterized in real-time by a low error rate,that is,5.2% from the XZ-axis direction of sand(42-43 kHz)and 5.6% from the XYZ-axis of glass(30.9-33.9 kHz,46.2-47.2 kHz,38.3-41.3 kHz for each axis response).Therefore,this research complements the existing approaches for PsD characterization in particulate multiphase flow.

Density Functional Theory Study on the Histidine-assisted Mechanism of Arylamine N-Acetyltransferase Acetylation

Arylamine N-acetyltransferases （NATs, EC 2.***.1.5） catalyze the N-acetylation of primary arylamines, and play a key role in the biotransformation and metabolism of drugs, carcinogens, etc. In this paper, three possible reaction mechanisms are investigated and the results indicate that if the acetyl group directly transfers from the donor to the acceptor, the high activation energies will make it hard to obtain the target products. When using histidine to mediate the acetylation process, these energies will drop in the 15-45 kJ/mol range. If the histidine residue is protonated, the corresponding energies will be decreased by about 35-87 kJ/mol. The calculations predict an enzymatic acetylation mechanism that undergoes a thiolate-imidazolium pair, which agrees with the experimental results very well.
