Chemical investigation of the EtOH extract of the twigs of Calophyllum inophyllum collected in Hainan Province of China resulted in the isolation of two new prenylated xanthones caloxanthone O(1) and caloxanthone P(2).Their structures were elucidated by a study of their physical and spectral *** 1 exhibited cytotoxicity against human gastric cancer cell line(SGC-7901) with the IC value of 22.4μg mL.

Developing agricultural circular economy is the important measures of relieving the pressure on agricultural resources, preserving the ecological environment and promoting the sustainable development of agriculture and rural economy. Based on the idea of circulation of agricultural research as the breakthrough point, the research firstly detailed the concept and scientific connotation of circular egdculture in an all-round way and described and analyzed the advantages and conditions of the development of circular agriculture in eastern and middle regions of China from three aspects including resources endowment, conditions of economic development and industrial base conditions. Furthermore, the research analyzed the model char- actedstics and summarized the successful ex^dence to provide a reference for promoting the models with consideration of Taihu Lake Basin in South of Jiangsu, Yi- meng mountain areas in Southeast of Shandong and hills and mountains region in northwest Henan. Finally, the reseach put forward the development orientation of agricultural circular economy and countermeasures and suggestions to further enhance the level of development.

Chemical studies on the constituents from dragon’s blood of Dracaena cambodiana led to the discovery of three new flavonoid derivatives(1-3),and six known compounds(4-9).The structures of the three new compounds were elucidated by NMR and MS spectroscopic *** compounds were evaluated for their growth inhibitory activity against human cell lines K-562,SMMC-7721,and SGC-7901,as well as antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA).As a result, compounds 1,2,5,7,and 9 showed cytotoxicity against K-562,SMMC-7721,and SGC-7901 cell *** these compounds were observed to exhibit antibacterial activities against ***,and compounds 1-4,6,8,and 9 were observed to exhibit antibacterial activity against MRSA.

[Objective] This study was to reveal the correlation between leaf area and drought resistance in different varieties of alfalfa.[Method] Using various alfalfa varieties as experimental materials,the drought resistance of leaves of drought-stressed alfalfa plants was assessed by measuring the content of free proline for analyzing its correlation with leaf area.[Result] Under drought condition,the drought resistance of alfalfa is directly related to leaf area in a positive correlation.[Conclusion] Leaf area could be used as an institutional assistant index to reflect the resistance of different alfalfa varieties.

Natural hay pastures in semi-arid pastoral areas produce the highest yields of hay in northern ***, long-term continuous hay harvesting with no rest interval has resulted in severe degradation across widespread areas of these natural hay pastures. In addition, no clear data exist on the spatial distribution or degree of degradation occurring in natural hay pastures primarily because a nationally unified and normative evaluation standard is lacking. In view of the above problems, we employed an analytic hierarchy process to carry out screening and accuracy validation of evaluation indicators for natural hay pastures in north China grasslands(temperate meadow steppes, temperate steppes, mountain meadows, and lowland meadows). Our study identified seven easily measured indicators that reflect the state of natural hay pastures(average height, aboveground biomass, coverage, proportion of medium grasses, litter biomass, proportion of degradation-indicative plants, and proportion of bare spots and saline-alkali spots). A five-level scoring method was employed to delineate the threshold range for these indicators, The results of this study show that this method effectively solved the technical bottleneck for graded evaluation of degradation in natural hay pastures. This provides a theoretical basis for the scientific assessment of natural hay pasture degradation as well as important technical support for sustainable use of natural hay pastures and livestock production.

Distribution Characteristics of Pb in Soil-rice System of Western Hainan Island, China

[Objective] The aim was to reveal the distribution characteristics of Pb in the soil-rice system of western Hainan Island, China. [Method] With the western re- gion of Hainan as the study area, the distribution characteristics of Pb in the soil- rice system were analyzed comprehensively by combining field survey and indoor analysis under the assistance of geostatistical and spatial analysis techniques. [Result] The content of Pb in soil of western Ha/nan was 43.6 mg/kg. There were dif- ferences in Pb content among the soils developed from different parent materials. The distribution of Pb in the study area was affected by the distribution of parent material, and it was not closely related to soil properties. The content of Pb in white rice was lower than that in straw, and the mean contents were 0.14 and 3.48 mg/kg, respectively. The content of Pb in white rice was not closely related to soil properties. [Conclusion] The content of Pb in the soil of western Hainan Island was low in overall, and the Pb content in white rice was lower than the limit of national Food Safety Standard of Pb Content for Rice. In short, the ecological risk of Pb pollution in the study area was low.

Background In 2015,herpes simplex virus 1(HSV-1)-derived talimogene laherparepvec(T-VEC)was the first oncolytic virus approved by the US Food and Drug Administration as a therapeutic agent for cancer ***,its antitumor application is limited to local treatment of melanoma,and there is a lack of understanding of the mechanisms underlying the regulation of HSV-1 replication in cancer cells and the associated antitumor *** hypothesized that increasing the replication capacity of HSV-1 in tumor cells would enhance the antitumor effect of this *** We systematically identified IFN-stimulated genes induced by HSV-1 by performing functional screens and clarified the mechanism by which BACH1 acts against ***,we tested the effect of BACH1 deficiency on immunogenic cell death induced by ***,we investigated the antitumor effect of BACH1 deficiency on HSV-1 in MCA205 and B16 murine tumor *** We identified eight IFN-stimulated genes(ISGs)controlling HSV-1 replication,among which BTB and CNC homology 1(BACH1)suppressed HSV-1 replication by inhibiting the transcription of ICP4,ICP27,and *** of Bach1 function not only increased HSV-1 proliferation but also promoted HSV-1-induced cell apoptosis,HMGB1 secretion,and calreticulin exposure in tumor *** importantly,hemin,an FDA-approved drug known to downregulate BACH1,significantly enhanced HSV-1-mediated antitumor activity with increased T lymphocyte infiltration at the tumor *** Our studies uncovered a novel antiviral activity of BACH1 and provided a new strategy for improving the clinical efficiency of the oncolytic virus HSV-1.
