Numerical investigation of non-uniform temperature fields for proppant and fluid phases in supercritical CO_(2)fracturing

The non-uniform temperature distribution in supercritical CO_(2)(Sc-CO_(2))fracturing influences the density,viscosity,and volume expansion or shrinkage rate of Sc-CO_(2),impacting proppant *** study presents a coupled computational fluid dynamics-discrete element method and heat transfer model to examine the effects of proppant bed shape and the heat transfers of proppant-wall,proppant-fluid,and fluid-wall on the fluid and proppant temperature *** Sc-CO_(2)volume expansion is assessed under various temperature conditions by evaluating the volume-averaged Sc-CO_(2)*** factors,including proppant size,shape,thermal conductivity,concentration,temperature difference,and injection velocity,are carefully analyzed to elucidate their *** findings elucidate the existence of four distinct zones in the fluid temperature *** zone exhibits different magnitudes of temperature change under diverse conditions and undergoes dynamic transformations with the development of the proppant *** fluid-wall heat transfer and the fluid temperatures in Zones C and D are significantly subject to the fluid injection velocity(governing the heating duration),the temperature difference between fluid and formation(impacting the magnitude of heat flux),and the proppant bed shape(controlling the effective heating area).Additionally,the proppant-wall and proppant-fluid heat transfers determine the temperatures of both the proppant bed and the fluid within Zone B,showing a strong correlation with proppant thermal conductivity,proppant size,injection velocity,and temperature *** proposed coupled model provides valuable insights into the temperature distributions and flow behaviors of temperature-dependent fracturing fluids and proppants.

Conversion of solar energy into H_(2) by photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting is recognized as an ideal way to address the growing energy crisis and environmental *** a typical PEC cell,the construction of photoanodes is crucial to guarantee the high efficiency and stability of PEC reactions,which fundamentally rely on rationally designed semiconductors(as the active materials)and substrates(as the current collectors).In this review work,we start with a brief introduction of the roles of substrates in the PEC ***,we provide a systematic overview of representative strategies for the controlled fabrication of photoanodes on rationally designed substrates,including conductive glass,metal,sapphire,silicon,silicon carbide,and flexible ***,some prospects concerning the challenges and research directions in this area are proposed.

Long‐life lithium batteries enabled by a pseudo‐oversaturated electrolyte

The specific energy of Li metal batteries(LMBs)can be improved by using high‐voltage cathode materials;however,achieving long‐term stable cycling performance in the corresponding system is particularly challenging for the liquid ***,a novel pseudo‐oversaturated electrolyte(POSE)is prepared by introducing 1,1,2,2‐tetrafluoroethyl‐2,2,3,3‐tetrafluoropropyl ether(TTE)to adjust the coordination structure between diglyme(G2)and lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide(LiTFSI).Surprisingly,although TTE shows little solubility to LiTFSI,the molar ratio between LiTFSI and G2 in the POSE can be increased to 1:1,which is much higher than that of the saturation state,1:*** and experimental results prove that TTE promotes closer contact of the G2 molecular with Li^(+)in the ***,it also participates in the formation of electrolyte/electrode *** electrolyte shows outstanding compatibility with both the Li metal anode and typical high‐voltage ***||Li symmetric cells show a long life of more than 2000 h at 1 mA cm^(−2),1 mAh cm^(−2).In the meantime,Li||LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)(NCM811)cell with the POSE shows a high reversible capacity of 134.8 mAh g^(−1 )after 900 cycles at 4.5 V,1 C *** concept of POSE can provide new insight into the Li^(+)solvation structure and in the design of advanced electrolytes for LMBs.

Hydrolysis of TiCl_(4)solution is capable of preparing microscale TiO_(2)*** research studied the synthesis of microscale spherical TiO_(2)powders and the hydrolysis *** effects of the flow field generated by different agitators and baffles in the crystallizer,the initial free acid concentration,the initial equivalent TiO_(2)concentration,and the temperature on the hydrolysis progress and powder morphology were systematically *** results show that the flow field in a crystallizer can significantly affect the morphology and particle size of the powders,and the axial flow can improve the sphericity of the *** increased free HCl and equivalent TiO_(2)concentrations in the pregnant solution inhibit the forward hydrolysis reaction,prolong the time to reach equilibrium,and reduce the *** appropriate temperature matching the compositions of the pregnant solution is crucial for the powder morphology and *** with sizes ranging from around 5 um-40μm can be tuned under controlled flow field,solution compositions,and temperature *** addition,the Cheng and Wunderlich modified Avrami equation was used for the crystallization kinetic *** effects of the free HCl concentration,equivalent TiO_(2)concentration,and hydrolysis temperature are reflected in the reaction rate constant and active nuclei reduction *** the free HCl and equivalent TiO_(2)concentrations will reduce the reaction rate constant and accelerate the deactivation of the active nuclei,thus increasing the final powder size,while increasing the temperature will lead to the opposite results.

Performance enhancement and active sites identification of Cu-Cd bimetallic oxide derived catalysts for electrochemical CO_(2) reduction

The development of earth-abundant electrocatalysts with high performance for electrochemical CO_(2)reduction(ECR)is of great ***-based catalysts have been widely investigated for ECR due to their unique ability to generate various carbonaceous products,but directing selectivity toward one certain product and identifying the real active sites during ECR are still full of ***,after the incorporation of CdO into CuO,the Cu_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)-O catalyst achieves a 10.3-fold enhancement for CO selectivity in comparison with CuO,and a CO faradic efficiency nearly 90%with a current density around20 mA cm^(-2)could maintain at least 60 ***,a wide CO/H_(2)ratio(0.07-10)is reached on Cu_(x)Cd_(1-x)-O catalysts by varying the Cu/Cd ratio,demonstrating the potential of syngas production using such *** results of ex situ XRD,XPS,and in situ Raman reveal that the real active sites of Cu_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)-O catalysts for CO production during ECR reaction are the reconstructed mixed phases of CuCd alloy and CdCO_(3).In situ FTIR and theoretical calculations further implicate the presence of Cd related species promotes the CO desorption and inhibits the H_(2)evolution,thus leading to an enhanced CO generation.

A Cooperated Imperialist Competitive Algorithm for Unrelated Parallel Batch Machine Scheduling Problem

This study focuses on the scheduling problem of unrelated parallel batch processing machines(BPM)with release times,a scenario derived from the moulding process in a *** this process,a batch is initially formed,placed in a sandbox,and then the sandbox is positioned on a BPM *** complexity of the scheduling problem increases due to the consideration of BPM capacity and sandbox *** minimize the makespan,a new cooperated imperialist competitive algorithm(CICA)is *** CICA,the number of empires is not a parameter,and four empires aremaintained throughout the search *** types of assimilations are achieved:The strongest and weakest empires cooperate in their assimilation,while the remaining two empires,having a close normalization total cost,combine in their assimilation.A new form of imperialist competition is proposed to prevent insufficient competition,and the unique features of the problem are effectively *** experiments are conducted across several instances,and a significant amount of experimental results show that the newstrategies of CICAare effective,indicating promising advantages for the considered BPMscheduling problems.

Semantic segmentation via pixel-to-center similarity calculation

Since the fully convolutional network has achieved great success in semantic segmentation,lots of works have been proposed to extract discriminative pixel ***,the authors observe that existing methods still suffer from two typical challenges:(i)The intra-class feature variation between different scenes may be large,leading to the difficulty in maintaining the consistency between same-class pixels from different scenes;(ii)The inter-class feature distinction in the same scene could be small,resulting in the limited performance to distinguish different classes in each *** authors first rethink se-mantic segmentation from a perspective of similarity between pixels and class *** weight vector of the segmentation head represents its corresponding semantic class in the whole dataset,which can be regarded as the embedding of the class ***,the pixel-wise classification amounts to computing similarity in the final feature space between pixels and the class *** this novel view,the authors propose a Class Center Similarity(CCS)layer to address the above-mentioned challenges by generating adaptive class centers conditioned on each scenes and supervising the similarities between class *** CCS layer utilises the Adaptive Class Center Module to generate class centers conditioned on each scene,which adapt the large intra-class variation between different *** designed Class Distance Loss(CD Loss)is introduced to control both inter-class and intra-class distances based on the predicted center-to-center and pixel-to-center ***,the CCS layer outputs the processed pixel-to-center similarity as the segmentation *** experiments demonstrate that our model performs favourably against the state-of-the-art methods.

Improving strength-ductility synchronously of Electron beam welded Ti600/Ti2AlNb joint through isothermal forging

Different alloys can be flexibly combined to meet the performance needs of different parts of the compressor disc by welding process. However, achieving a good combination of dissimilar alloys with different mechanical properties has always been a research difficulty. In this work, a Ti600/Ti2AlNb joint was fabricated through electron beam welding and an isothermal forging was used to optimized its microstructure and mechanical performance. The isothermal forging process increases the ultimate tensile strength（UST） and yield strength（YS）of the Ti600/Ti2AlNb joint by ～18 %, while ～2.5 times the ductility. It is indicated that before forging, the Ti600/Ti2AlNb joint exhibits a much lower strength than that of Ti600 matrix, whereas the opposite is true after isothermal forging. The isothermal forging broken the coarse columnar grains of Ti600/Ti2AlNb joint and render to an equiaxed B2 structure in which the acicular α2and O phase are precipitated, resulting a synchronous enhancement of strength and ductility. This work may pave an effective routine for improving the comprehensive mechanical properties of dissimilar metal welding joint.

An Elite-Class Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization for Reentrant Hybrid Flow Shop Scheduling with Bottleneck Stage

Bottleneck stage and reentrance often exist in real-life manufacturing processes;however,the previous research rarely addresses these two processing conditions in a scheduling *** this study,a reentrant hybrid flow shop scheduling problem(RHFSP)with a bottleneck stage is considered,and an elite-class teaching-learning-based optimization(ETLBO)algorithm is proposed to minimize maximum completion *** produce high-quality solutions,teachers are divided into formal ones and substitute ones,and multiple classes are *** teacher phase is composed of teacher competition and teacher *** learner phase is replaced with a reinforcement search of the elite *** adjustment on teachers and classes is established based on class quality,which is determined by the number of elite solutions in *** experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of new strategies,and ETLBO has a significant advantage in solving the considered RHFSP.
