The concept of elastic moment tensor occurs in several interesting contexts, in particular in imaging small elastic inclusions and in asymptotic models of dilute elastic composites. In this paper, we compute the elastic moment tensors for ellipses and ellipsoids by using a systematic method based on layer potentials. Our computations reveal an underlying elegant relation between the elastic moment tensors and the single layer potential.

OBJECTIVE: Sasang constitutional medicine is a component of Traditional korean Medicine that stresses the hereditary makeup of disease incidences or therapeutic responses. This study investigated the relationship between the incidence of cancer and Sasang constitution classification. METHODS: Five hundred and one cancer patients were classified as having one of the four types of Sasang constitutions (Taeumin, Soumin, Soyangin, Taeyangin) using Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Classification II, then compared with data from 1423 healthy subjects. RESULTS: The Sasang constitutional distribution for the cancer patients was significantly differentfrom that for healthy subjects: 22.8% vs 46.9% for Taeumin, 35.5% vs 24.0% for Soumin, and 41.7% vs 29.1% for Soyangin. Our results assumed that the lowest cancer incidence would be in Taeumin (around 2-fold in both sex) while the highest cancer incidence in Soumin males (2.8-fold) and Soyangin females (2.1-fold). CONCLUSION: This study identified a trend involving the frequency of cancer and the Sasang constitutional classification. We hope that this finding will provide new ideas for the study of cancer incidence and its preventive management.

Phonon Boltzmann transport equation(BTE)is a key tool for modeling multiscale phonon transport,which is critical to the thermal management of miniaturized integrated circuits,but assumptions about the system temperatures(i.e.,small temperature gradients)are usually made to ensure that it is computationally *** include the effects of large temperature non-equilibrium,we demonstrate a data-free deep learning scheme,physics-informed neural network(PINN),for solving stationary,mode-resolved phonon BTE with arbitrary temperature *** scheme uses the temperature-dependent phonon relaxation times and learns the solutions in parameterized spaces with both length scale and temperature gradient treated as input *** experiments suggest that the proposed PINN can accurately predict phonon transport(from 1D to 3D)under arbitrary temperature ***,the proposed scheme shows great promise in simulating device-level phonon heat conduction efficiently and can be potentially used for thermal design.

Self-propelling micro-and nano-motors(MNMs)have been extensively investigated as an emerging oral drug delivery carrier for gastrointestinal(GI)tract ***,the propulsion of current MNMs reported so far is mostly based on the redox reaction of metals(such as Zn and Mg)with severe propulsion gas generation,remaining non-degradable residue in the GI ***,we develop a bioinspired enzyme-powered biopolymer micromotor mimicking the mucin penetrating behavior of Helicobacter pylori in the *** converts urea to ammonia and the subsequent increase of pH induces local gel-sol transition of the mucin layer facilitating the penetration into the stomach tissue *** successful fabrication of micromotors is confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy,electron energy loss spectroscopy,dynamic light scattering analysis,zeta-potential *** acidic condition,the immobilized urease can efficiently converted urea to ammonia,comparable with that of neutral condition because of the increase of surrounding pH during *** administration into the stomach,the micromotors show enhanced penetration and prolonged retention in the stomach for 24 ***,histological analysis shows that the micromotors are cleared within 3 days without causing any toxicity in the GI *** enhanced penetration and retention of the micromotors as an active oral delivery carrier in the stomach would be successfully harnessed for the treatment of various GI tract diseases.

In this paper we present a systematic way of computing the polarization tensors, anisotropic as well as isotropic, based on the boundary integral method. We then use this method to compute the anisotropic polarization tensor for ellipses and ellipsoids. The computation reveals the pair of anisotropy and ellipses which produce the same polarization tensors.

The powder compaction simulations were performed to demonstrate deformation behavior of particles and estimate the effect of different punch speeds and particle diameters on the relative density of powder by a multi-particle finite element model(MPFEM). Individual particle discretized with a finite element mesh allows for a full description of the contact mechanics. In order to verify the reliability of compaction simulation by MPFEM, the compaction tests of porous aluminum with average particle size of 20 μm and 3 μm were performed at different ram speeds of 5, 15, 30 and 60 mm/min by MTS servo-hydraulic tester. The results show that the slow ram speed is of great advantage for powder densification in low compaction force due to sufficient particle rearrangement and compaction force increases with decrease in average particle size of aluminum.

Commercial purity Ti was subjected to channel die compression in liquid nitrogen for the purpose of studying its deformation characteristics from the viewpoint of the grain refinement induced by severe plastic *** specimens showed microstructural heterogeneity in that the initial blocky grains of about 50 urn in size turned into a mixture of the easily deforming soft grains and the hard grains revealing local concentration of dislocations and deformation *** electron back scattered diffraction analysis the in-grain misorientation-axis distribution was studied,from which it was found that the deformation heterogeneity resulted from the anisotropy of individual grains with respect to the compression die:while the soft grains were those oriented favorably for the prismslip,the hard ones were oriented for non-prism slips and deformation *** difference in the response of individual grains,therefore,led to a remarkable effect of the crystal texture of specimens on the maximum strain that can be imposed on specimens without *** on the present results,a way to achieve expedient grain refinement through the cryogenic plane-strain compression was suggested.
