Free radicals trigger the closure of open pores in lignin-derived hard carbons toward improved sodium-storage capacity

The chemical activation of various precursors is effective for creating additional closed pores in hard carbons for sodium ***,the formation mechanism of closed pores under the influence of pore-forming agents is not well ***,an effective chemical activation followed by a high-temperature self-healing strategy is employed to generate interconnected closed pores in lignin-derived hard carbon(HCs).By systematic experimental design combined with electron paramagnetic res-onance spectroscopy,it can be found that the content of free radicals in the carbon matrix influences the closure of open pores at high *** high activation temperature(>700 C)leads to a low free radical concentration,making it difficult to achieve self-healing of open pores at high *** activation at 700°C,a balance between pore making and self-healing is achieved in the final hard carbon.A large number of free radicals triggers rapid growth and aggregation of carbon microcrys-tals,blocking pre-formed open micropores and creating additional interconnected closed pores in as-obtained hard *** a result,the optimized carbon anode(LK-700-1300)delivers a high reversible capacity of 330.8 mA h g^(-1) at 0.03 A g^(-1),which is an increase of 86 mA h g^(-1) compared to the pristine lignin-derived carbon anode(L-700-1300),and exhibits a good rate performance(202.1 mA h g^(-1) at 1 A g^(-1)).This work provides a universal and effective guidance for tuning closed pores of hard carbons from otherprecursors.

Advancing flood susceptibility modeling using stacking ensemble machine learning: A multi-model approach

Flood susceptibility modeling is crucial for rapid flood forecasting,disaster reduction strategies,evacuation planning,and *** learning(ML)models have proven to be effective tools for assessing flood ***,most previous studies have focused on individual models or comparative performance,underscoring the unique strengths and weaknesses of each *** this study,we propose a stacking ensemble learning algorithm that harnesses the strengths of a diverse range of machine learning *** findings reveal the following:(1)The stacking ensemble learning,using RF-XGBCB-LR model,significantly enhances flood susceptibility simulation.(2)In addition to rainfall,key flood drivers in the study area include NDVl,and impervious *** 40%of the study area,primarily in the northeast and southeast,exhibits high flood susceptibility,with higher risks for populations compared to cropland.(3)In the northeast of the study area,heavy precipitation,low terrain,and NDVI values are key indicators contributing to high flood susceptibility,while long-duration precipitation,mountainous topography,and upper reach vegetation are the main drivers in the *** study underscores the effectiveness of ML,particularly ensemble learning,in flood *** identifies vulnerable areas and contributes to improved flood risk management.

Fabrication of Silane and Desulfurization Ash Composite Modified Polyurethane and Its Interfacial Binding Mechanism

Polyurethane/desulfurization ash(PU/DA)composites were synthesized using"one-pot method",with the incorporation of a silane coupling agent(KH550)as a"molecular bridge"to facilitate the integration of DA as hard segments into the PU molecular *** effects of DA content(φ)on the mechanical properties,thermal stability,and hydrophobicity of PU,both before and after the addition of KH550,were thoroughly *** results of microscopic mechanism analysis confirmed that KH550 chemically modified the surface of DA,facilitating its incorporation into the polyurethane molecular chain,thereby significantly enhancing the compatibility and dispersion of DA within the PU *** the mass fraction of modified DA(MDA)reached 12%,the mechanical properties,thermal stability,and hydrophobicity of the composites were substantially improved,with the tensile strength reaching 14.9 MPa,and the contact angle measuring 100.6°.

Mass transfer enhancement and hydrodynamic performance with wire mesh coupling solid particles in bubble column reactor

It is of vital significance to investigate mass transfer enhancements for chemical engineering *** work focuses on investigating the coupling influence of embedding wire mesh and adding solid particles on bubble motion and gas-liquid mass transfer process in a bubble *** image velocimetry(PIV)technology was employed to analyze the flow field and bubble motion behavior,and dynamic oxygen absorption technology was used to measure the gas-liquid volumetric mass transfer coefficient(kLa).The effect of embedding wire mesh,adding solid particles,and wire mesh coupling solid particles on the flow characteristic and kLa were analyzed and *** results show that the gas-liquid interface area increases by 33%-72%when using the wire mesh coupling solid particles strategy compared to the gas-liquid two-phase flow,which is superior to the other two strengthening *** with the system without reinforcement,kLa in the bubble column increased by 0.5-1.8 times with wire mesh coupling solid particles method,which is higher than the sum of kLa increases with inserting wire mesh and adding particles,and the coupling reinforcement mechanism for affecting gas-liquid mass transfer process was discussed to provide a new idea for enhancing gas-liquid mass transfer.

Cross-upgrading of biomass hydrothermal carbonization and pyrolysis for high quality blast furnace injection fuel production:Physicochemical characteristics and gasification kinetics analysis

The paper proposes a biomass cross-upgrading process that combines hydrothermal carbonization and pyrolysis to produce high-quality blast furnace injection *** results showed that after upgrading,the volatile content of biochar ranged from 16.19%to 45.35%,and the alkali metal content,ash content,and specific surface area were significantly *** optimal route for biochar pro-duction is hydrothermal carbonization-pyrolysis(P-HC),resulting in biochar with a higher calorific value,C=C structure,and increased graphitization *** apparent activation energy(E)of the sample ranges from 199.1 to 324.8 kJ/mol,with P-HC having an E of 277.8 kJ/mol,lower than that of raw biomass,primary biochar,and *** makes P-HC more suitable for blast furnace injection ***,the paper proposes a path for P-HC injection in blast furnaces and calculates potential environmental benefits.P-HC of-fers the highest potential for carbon emission reduction,capable of reducing emissions by 96.04 kg/t when replacing 40wt%coal injec-tion.

Influence of bolt dynamic installation on topography characteristics and mechanical behaviors of CFRP interference-fit bolted joints

As the controlled research of Dynamic Installation(DI)and Static Installation(SI),a new interference installation method was developed based on electromagnetic loading to enhance the mechanical properties of composite *** different interference-fit sizes were considered,ranging from a net fit to 2.0%.The experiments were conducted to evaluate the installation resistance and the mechanical behavior of the joint under external ***,an FFA model to model the stress distribution and damage behavior of the bolt-hole contact interface was *** load-displacement curve and damage modes of experiments were used to verify the FEA *** results show that the installation resistance during DI process was remarkably lower than that of SI process corresponding to all interference-fit sizes,and the stress amplitudes induced by interference were larger and widely *** damage of the hole wall was positively correlated with interference fit size,but DI can significantly reduce the damage compared to *** performance tests,DI enhanced the static bearing capacity and extended longer fatigue life of the joints than *** methods can be an effective way to achieve highly reliable interference joints in composite structures.
