Enhancing thermodynamic stability of single-crystal Ni-rich cathode material via a synergistic dual-substitution strategy

Nickel(Ni)-rich cathode materials have become promising candidates for the next-generation electrical vehicles due to their high specific ***,the poor thermodynamic stability(including cyclic performance and safety performance or thermal stability)will restrain their wide commercial ***,a single-crystal Ni-rich Li Ni_(0.83)Co_(0.12)Mn_(0.05)O_(2) cathode material is synthesized and modified by a dual-substitution strategy in which the high-valence doping element improves the structural stability by forming strong metal–oxygen binding forces,while the low-valence doping element eliminates high Li^(+)/Ni^(2+)*** a result,this synergistic dual substitution can effectively suppress H2-H3 phase transition and generation of microcracks,thereby ultimately improving the thermodynamic stability of Ni-rich cathode ***,the dual-doped Ni-rich cathode delivers an extremely high capacity retention of 81%after 250 cycles(***/Li+)in coin-type half cells and 87%after 1000 cycles(***/Li^(+))in pouch-type full cells at a high temperature of 55℃.More impressively,the dual-doped sample exhibits excellent thermal stability,which demonstrates a higher thermal runaway temperature and a lower calorific *** synergetic effects of this dual-substitution strategy pave a new pathway for addressing the critical challenges of Ni-rich cathode at high temperatures,which will significantly advance the high-energy-density and high-safety cathodes to the subsequent commercialization.

Hydrogel-based tissue-engineered skin has attracted increased attention due to its potential to restore the structural integrity and functionality of ***,the mechanical properties of hydrogel scaffolds and natural skin are substantially ***,we developed a polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)/acrylamide based interpenetrating network(IPN)hydrogel that was surface modified with polydopamine(PDA)and termed *** Dopa-gel exhibited mechanical properties similar to native skin tissue and a superior ability to modulate paracrine ***,a tough scaffold with tensile resistance was fabricated using this hydrogel by three-dimensional *** results showed that the interpenetration of PVA,alginate,and polyacrylamide networks notably enhanced the mechanical properties of the *** modification with PDA endowed the hydrogels with increased secretion of immunomodulatory and proangiogenic *** an in vivo model,Dopa-gel treatment accelerated wound closure,increased vascularization,and promoted a shift in macrophages from a proinflammatory M1 phenotype to a prohealing and anti-inflammatory M2 phenotype within the wound ***,the focal adhesion kinase(FAK)/extracellular signal-related kinase(ERK)signaling pathway may mediate the promotion of skin defect healing by increasing paracrine secretion via the ***,proangiogenic factors can be induced through Rho-associated kinase-2(ROCK-2)/vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)-mediated paracrine secretion under tensile stress *** together,these findings suggest that the multifunctional Dopa-gel,which has good mechanical properties similar to those of native skin tissue and enhanced immunomodulatory and angiogenic properties,is a promising scaffold for skin tissue regeneration.

To explore highly active and thermomechanical stable air electrodes for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells(ITSOFCs),10mol%Ta5+doped in the B site of strontium ferrite perovskite oxide(SrTa_(0.1)Fe_(0.9)O_(3-δ),STF)is investigated and *** effects of Ta^(5+)doping on structure,transition metal reduction,oxygen nonstoichiometry,thermal expansion,and electrical performance are evaluated *** 10mol%Ta^(5+)doping,the thermal expansion coefficient(TEC)decreased from 34.1×10^(-6)(SrFeO_(3-δ))to 14.6×10^(-6) K^(-1)(STF),which is near the TEC of electrolyte(13.3×10^(-6) K^(-1) for Sm_(0.2)Ce_(0.8)O_(1.9),SDC),indicates excellent thermomechanical *** 550-750℃,STF shows superior oxygen vacancy concentrations(0.262 to 0.331),which is critical in the oxygen-reduction reaction(ORR).Oxygen temperature-programmed desorption(O_(2)-TPD)indicated the thermal reduction onset temperature of iron ion is around 420℃,which matched well with the inflection points on the thermos-gravimetric analysis and electrical conductivity *** 600℃,the STF electrode shows area-specific resistance(ASR)of 0.152Ω·cm^(2) and peak power density(PPD)of 749 mW·cm^(-2).ORR activity of STF was further improved by introducing 30wt%Sm_(0.2)Ce_(0.8)O_(1.9)(SDC)powder,STF+SDC composite cathode achieving outstanding ASR value of 0.115Ω·cm2 at 600℃,even comparable with benchmark cobalt-containing cathode,Ba_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Co_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)(BSCF).Distribution of relaxation time(DRT)analysis revealed that the oxygen surface exchange and bulk diffusion were improved by forming a composite *** 650℃,STF+SDC composite cathode achieving an outstanding PPD of 1117 mW·cm^(-2).The excellent results suggest that STF and STF+SDC are promising air electrodes for IT-SOFCs.

High-throughput and simultaneous inertial separation of tumor cells and clusters from malignant effusions using spiral-contraction-expansion channels

Tumor cell clusters are regarded as critical factors in cancer pathophysiology,and increasing evidence of their higher treatment resistance and metastasis compared to single tumor cells has been ***,existing cell separation methods that are designed for single tumor cells cannot be used to simultaneously purify tumor cell *** address this problem,we demonstrated a microfluidic approach for the high-throughput,continuous-flow ternary separation of single tumor cells,tumor cell clusters,and WBCs from clinical pleural or abdominal effusions by coupling slanted spiral channels and periodic contraction-expansion *** first systematically explored the influence of particle size and flow rate on particle *** separation performance indicated that 94.0%of WBCs were removed and more than 97%of MDA-MB-231 tumor cells were recovered at a high flow rate of 3500µL/***,more than 90%of tumor cell clusters were effectively preserved after ***,we successfully applied our device for the ternary separation of single tumor cells,tumor cell clusters,and WBCs from different malignant effusions collected from patients with metastatic ***,our spiral-contraction-expansion device has potential as a sample pretreatment tool for the cytological diagnosis of malignant effusions.

Cell Mechanics Regulates the Dynamic Anisotropic Remodeling of Fibril Matrix at Large Scale

Living tissues often have anisotropic and heterogeneous organizations, in which developmental processes are coordinated by cells and extracellular matrix modeling. Cells have the capability of modeling matrix in long distance;however, the biophysical mechanism is largely unknown. We investigated the dynamic remodeling of collagen I (COL) fibril matrix by cell contraction with designed patterns of cell clusters. By considering cell dynamic contractions, our molecular dynamics simulations predicted the anisotropic patterns of the observed COL bundling in experiments with various geometrical patterns without spatial limitation. The pattern of COL bundling was closely related to the dynamic remodeling of fibril under cell active contraction. We showed that cell cytoskeletal integrity (actin filaments and microtubules), actomyosin contractions, and endoplasmic reticulum calcium channels acting as force generations and transductions were essential for fiber bundling inductions, and membrane mechanosensory components integrin and Piezo played critical roles as well. This study revealed the underlying mechanisms of the cell mechanics-induced matrix remodeling in large scales and the associated cellular mechanism and should provide important guidelines for tissue engineering in potential biomedical applications.

Tumor hypoxia severely limits the therapeutic efficacy of photodynamic therapy(PDT) for solid tumors,which is highly dependent on tissue oxygen *** this study,we developed a platinum(Ⅱ)-acetylide-based metallacycle compound bearing six 1,4-dimethylnaphthalenes(DMN) groups,and controlled the photodynamic and photothermal effects of the compound by adjusting the power of 730 nm laser to achieve reversible sensitization,storage and release of 1~O_(2) within a single *** compound formed nanoparticles by self-assembly and exhibited good water solubility and *** laser irradiation,the strong spin-orbit coupling of platinum atoms in the metallacycle facilitated 1~O_(2) *** produced 1~O_(2) was captured by the DMN carriers and transported into the hypoxic tumor,where 1~O_(2) release was triggered owing to the good photothermal effect of the extended conjugation of the *** therapy,the metallacycle serving as a photosensitizer,1~O_(2) carrier,and photothermal reagent,achieved the synergistic therapy of PDT/PTT,demonstrating the versatility of the *** study proposes a new strategy to develop phototherapy agents that are suitable for hypoxic tumors.

Zinc ion batteries are considered as potential energy storage devices due to their advantages of low-cost,high-safety,and high theoretical ***,dendrite growth and chemical corrosion occurring on Zn anode limit their *** problems can be tackled through the optimization of the ***,the screening of electrolyte additives using normal electrochemical methods is time-consuming and ***,a fast and simple method based on the digital holography is *** can realize the in situ monitoring of electrode/electrolyte interface and provide direct information concerning ion concentration evolution of the diffusion *** is effective and time-saving in estimating the homogeneity of the deposition layer and predicting the tendency of dendrite growth,thus able to value the applicability of electrolyte *** feasibility of this method is further validated by the forecast and evaluation of thioacetamide *** on systematic characterization,it is proved that the introduction of thioacetamide can not only regulate the interficial ion flux to induce dendrite-free Zn deposition,but also construct adsorption molecule layers to inhibit side reactions of Zn *** easy to operate,capable of in situ observation,and able to endure harsh conditions,digital holography method will be a promising approach for the interfacial investigation of other battery systems.

Metal–ligand interfaces for well-defined gold nanoclusters

Ligand engineering for well-defined gold nanoclusters(Au NCs) is getting more extensive attention. Organizing the Au-ligand interfaces on gold NCs can achieve the structural and functional control. This review focuses on the Au-ligand interfaces including gold-phosphorus(Au-P), gold-sulfur(Au-S), gold-selenium(Au-Se), gold-carbon(Au-C), and gold-nitrogen(Au-N), derived from the bonding between Au atoms and the different ligands(e.g., organic phosphine, thiolate, selenolate, alkynyl,n-heterocyclic carbene and nitrogenous ligands). The formation mechanism of Au-ligand interfaces is well discussed. In addition, the effects of Au-ligand interfaces on the stability, optical property, and catalysis are also presented. We hope the advances in this research area can boost the development of Au NC sciences.

Cooperative game penetration guidance for multiple hypersonic vehicles under safety critical framework

The rapid development of the anti-missile weapon technology brings new challenges to the cooperative penetration strategy solution and the guidance law design for Hypersonic Vehicles(HVs).This paper studies the coordinated game penetration guidance problem for multiple hypersonic vehicles faced with space threat areas.A scheme for seeking cooperative game penetration guidance strategy under safety critical control framework is *** this scheme,a multiHV cooperative game model is proposed in a minimum optimization form which can simplify the solving process and accelerate the computing ***,a second-order control barrier function is developed to transform the implicit nonlinear constraints of the proposed model into linear *** order to obtain better performance of guidance strategy,a composite guidance law under the safety critical control framework is presented to allocate guidance strategies appropriately in the whole *** is shown that the proposed scheme can guarantee successful penetration while avoiding threat ***,a comparative simulation with a two-on-three game is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
