The effects of the erosion present on the leading edge of a wind turbine airfoil(DU 96-W-180)on its aerodynamic performances have been investigated numerically in the framework of a SST k–ωturbulence model based on the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations(RANS).The results indicate that when sand-induced holes and small pits are involved as leading edge wear features,they have a minimal influence on the lift and drag coefficients of the ***,if delamination occurs in the same airfoil region,it significantly impacts the lift and resistance characteristics of the ***,as the angle of attack grows,there is a significant decrease in the lift coefficient accompanied by a sharp increase in the drag *** wear intensifies,these effects gradually ***,the leading edge wear can exacerbate flow separation near the trailing edge suction surface of the airfoil and cause forward displacement of the separation point.

This paper introduces the African Bison Optimization (ABO) algorithm, which is based on biological population. ABO is inspired by the survival behaviors of the African bison, including foraging, bathing, jousting, mating, and eliminating. The foraging behavior prompts the bison to seek a richer food source for *** bison find a food source, they stick around for a while by bathing behavior. The jousting behavior makes bison stand out in the population, then the winner gets the chance to produce offspring in the mating behavior. The eliminating behavior causes the old or injured bison to be weeded out from the herd, thusmaintaining the excellent individuals. The above behaviors are translated into ABO by mathematical modeling. To assess the reliability and performance of ABO, it is evaluated on a diverse set of 23 benchmark functions and applied to solve five practical engineering problems with constraints. The findings from the simulation demonstrate that ABO exhibits superior and more competitive performance by effectively managing the trade-off between exploration and exploitation when compared with the other nine popular metaheuristics algorithms. © 2024 The Authors.

Fankl is exclusively expressed in the testis from the meiosis phase to the haploid phase of spermatogenesis. In this study, we examined the function of Fankl by establishing a Fankl-knockdown transgenic mouse model. The apoptotic statuses of the testes of the transgenic mice were tested using the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling （TUNEL） method. The FANK1 consensus DNA-binding sequence was identified using cyclic amplification of sequence target （CAST） analysis. Differentially expressed genes were examined using microarray analysis. A reduction in sperm number and an increase in apoptotic spermatocytes were observed in Fankl-knockdown mice, and the apoptotic cells were found to be primarily spermatogonia and spermatocytes. The CAST results demonstrated that the consensus DNA-binding sequence was AAAAAG, in which the percentage occurrence of each base at each position ranged from 55 to 86%. This sequence was present in the promoter regions of 10 differentially expressed genes that were examined using microarray analysis. In total, 17 genes were differentially expressed with changes in their expression levels greater than twofold. The abnormal expression of Fankl target genes that were regulated directly or indirectly by Fankl reduced the number of sperm in the knockdown mice. Thus, FANK1 may Dlav a pivotal role in sDermato^enesis as a transcription *** is exclusively expressed in the testis from the meiosis phase to the haploid phase of spermatogenesis. Stress intensity factors （SIFs） for the cracked circular disks under different distributing surface tractions are evaluated with the scaled boundary finite element method （SBFEM）. In the SBFEM, the analytical advantage of the solution in the radial direction allows SIFs to be directly determined from its definition, therefore no special crack-tip treatment is necessary. Furthermore anisotropic material behavior can be treated easily. Different distributions of surface tractions are considered for the center and double-edge-cracked disks. The benchmark examples are modeled and an excellent agreement between the results in the present study and those in published literature is found. It shows that SBFEM is effective and possesses high accuracy. The SIFs of the cracked orthotropic material circular disks subjected to different surface tractions are also evaluated. The technique of substructure is applied to handle the multiple cracks problem.
