Characteristics of Bi-2223 HTS Tapes Under Short-Circuit Current Impacts in Hybrid Energy Transmission Pipelines

A hybrid energy transmission pipeline is proposed with the aim of long-distance cooperative transmission of electricity and chemical fuels, which is composed of an inner high-temperature superconducting (HTS) power cable and outer liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline. The flowing LNG could maintain the operating temperature of the inner HTS power cable within the range of 85 K-90 K, thus the Bi-2223 superconductors in the HTS power cable produce little Joule loss with the transmission current below the critical current. Owing to the advantages of high power density, low transmission losses and economical manufacturing costs, the hybrid energy transmission pipeline is expected to be widely utilized in the near future. In order to ensure the safety of the HTS power cable and explosive LNG in case of short-circuit faults, this paper tests and analyzes the characteristics of Bi-2223 HTS tapes of the Type HT-CA, Type HT-SS and Type H models under short-circuit current impacts at the LNG cooling temperature (85 K-90 K). An experimental platform is designed and established for the ampacity tests of HTS tapes above LN2 cooling temperature (77 K). The AC over-current impact tests at 85 K-90 K are carried out on each sample of Bi-2223 tapes respectively, and the experimental results are analyzed and compared to evaluate their performances under different operating conditions. The results indicate that the Type HT-CA tape can withstand 50 Hz short-circuit current impact with the amplitude of 1108 A (10 times of critical current Ic ) for 100 ms at 90 K, and its resistance is the smallest of the three tested samples under similar current impacts. Therefore, the Type HT-CA Bi-2223 tape is the optimal superconductor of the HTS power cable in the hybrid energy transmission pipeline.

Effect of cobalt substitution for nickel on microstructural evolution and hydrogen storage properties of La_(0.66)Mg_(0.34)Ni_(3.5-x)Co_(x) alloys

Superlattice hydrogen storage alloys offer a compelling advantage with rapid hydriding rate and high storage ***,its practical applications face challenges including complex structure,low dehydriding capacity,and cyclic *** this work,we successfully prepared La_(0.66)Mg_(0.34)Ni_(3.5-x)Co_(x) superlattice hydrogen storage alloys with enhanced dehydriding capacity and stability by partially substituting Co for Ni.X-ray diffraction(Xrd)refinements analysis reveals the presence of(La,Mg)_(3)Ni_(9),(La,Mg)_5Ni_(19),and LaNi_(5) phases within the *** Co substitution in the La_(0.06)Mg_(0.34)Ni_(3.4)Co_(0.1)alloy,there is a significant increase in content of the(La,Mg)_(3)Ni_(9) phase and a reduction in the hysteresis factor,resulting in an improved reversible hydrogen storage capacity from 1.45 wt%to 1.60 wt%.The dehydriding kinetics of the alloy is controlled by diffusion model with an activation energy of 8.40 kJ/***,the dehydriding enthalpy value of the Co-substituted alloy decreases from 30.84 to 29.85 kJ/***,the cycling performance of the alloy after Co substitution exhibits excellent stability,with a capacity retention rate of 92.3%after 100 *** findings provide valuable insights for the development of cost-effective hydrogen storage materials.

Surface roughness classification using light scattering matrix and deep learning

High-quality optical components have been widely used in various applications;thus,extremely high beam quality is ***,surface roughness is a key indicator of the surface *** this study,the angular distribution of light scattering field intensity was obtained for surfaces having different roughness profiles based on the finite difference time domain(FdTd)method,and the results were compared with those obtained using the generalized Harvey-Shack(GHS)*** was shown that the FdTd approach can be used for an accurate simulation of the scattered field of a rough surface,and the superposition of results obtained from many surfaces that have the same roughness level was in good agreement with the result given by the analytic GHS model.A light scattering matrix(LSM)method was proposed based on the FdTd simulation results that could obtain rich surface roughness *** classification effect of LSM was compared with that of the single-incidence scattering distribution(SISd)based on a resNet-50 deep learning *** classification accuracy of the model trained with the LSM dataset was obtained as 95.74%,which was 23.40%higher than that trained using the SISd ***,the effects of different noise types and filtering methods on the classification performance were analyzed,and the LSM was also shown to improve the robustness and generalizability of the trained surface roughness ***,the proposed LSM method has important implications for improving the data acquisition scheme of current light scattering measurement systems,and it also has the potential to be used for detection and characterization of surface defects of optical components.

The spin superconductor state is the spin-polarized triplet exciton condensate,which can be viewed as a counterpart of the charge superconductor *** an analogy of the charge Josephson effect,the spin Josephson effect can be generated in the spin superconductor/normal metal/spin superconductor *** we study the spin supercurrent in the Josephson junctions consisting of two spin superconductors with noncollinear spin *** the Josephson junctions with out-of-plane spin polarizations,the possibleπ-state spin supercurrent appears due to the Fermi momentum-splitting Andreev-like reflections at the normal metal/spin superconductor *** the Josephson junctions with in-plane spin polarizations,the anomalous spin supercurrent appears and is driven by the misorientation angle of the in-plane *** symmetry analysis shows that the appearance of the anomalous spin Josephson current is possible when the combined symmetry of the spin rotation and the time reversal is broken.

Large-scale particle trapping by acoustic vortices with a continuously variable topological charge

Strengthened directivity with higher-order side lobes can be generated by the transducer with a larger radius at a higher frequency. The multi-annular pressure distributions are displayed in the cross-section of the acoustic vortices(AVs)which are formed by side lobes. In the near field, particles can be trapped in the valley region between the two annuli of the pressure peak, and cannot be moved to the vortex center. In this paper, a trapping method based on a sector transducer array is proposed, which is characterized by the continuously variable topological charge(CVTC). This acoustic field can not only enlarge the range of particle trapping but also improve the aggregation degree of the trapped particles. In the experiments, polyethylene particles with a diameter of 0.2 mm are trapped into the multi-annular valleys by the AV with a fixed topological charge. Nevertheless, by applying the CVTC, particles outside the radius of the AV can cross the pressure peak successfully and move to the vortex center. Theoretical studies are also verified by the experimental particles trapping using the AV with the continuous variation of three topological charges, and suggest the potential application of large-scale particle trapping in biomedical engineering.

Two europium-bearing organic frameworks,termed as EuTPO-1 and EuTPO-2(H_(3)TPO=tris(4-carboxylphenyI)-phosphineoxide),are reported in this work.A series of characterizations of EuTPO-1and EuTPO-2,such as X-ray crystallography and photoluminescence spectroscopy,was performed to expatiate their structure and physicochemical *** of them are constructed by dimers of the europium-oxygen subunit of [Eu_(2)O_(16)] and TPO *** from high X-ray stopping attenuation and excellent luminescence efficiency,they emit sufficient luminescence when irradiated with ***,they possess stable light outputs when exposed to high humidities and strong radiation dose,outperforming the commercial scintillator CsI:*** result paves the way for developing new scintillator and enriches the compound of europium-bearing organic framework with X-ray scintillating luminescence.

Potential risks of organic contaminated soil after persulfate remediation:Harmful gaseous sulfur release

Persulfate is considered a convenient and efficient remediation agent for organic contaminated ***,the potential risk of sulfur into the soil remediation by persulfate remains *** this study,glass bottles with different persulfate dosages and groundwater tables were set up to simulate persulfate remediation of organic pollutants(aniline).The results found sulfate to be the main end-product(83.0%–99.5%)of persulfate remediation after10 ***,H_(2)S accounted for 93.4%–99.4%of sulfur reduction end-products,suggesting that H_(2)S was the final fate of sulfur.H_(2)S was released rapidly after one to three days at a maximum concentration of 33.0 ppm,which is sufficient to make a person *** to the fitted curve results,H_(2)S concentration decreased to a safe concentration(0.15 ppm)after 20–85 ***,the maximum concentration of methanethiol reached 0.6 *** results indicated that secondary pollution from persulfate remediation could release harmful gases over a long ***,persulfate should be used more carefully as a remediation agent for soil contamination.

Bunch-length measurement at a bunch-by-bunch rate based on time–frequency-domain joint analysis techniques and its application

This paper presents a new technique for measuring the bunch length of a high-energy electron beam at a bunch-by-bunch rate in storage *** technique uses the time–frequency-domain joint analysis of the bunch signal to obtain bunch-by-bunch and turn-by-turn longitudinal parameters,such as bunch length and synchronous *** bunch signal is obtained using a button electrode with a bandwidth of several *** data acquisition device was a high-speed digital oscilloscope with a sampling rate of more than 10 GS/s,and the single-shot sampling data buffer covered thousands of *** bunch-length and synchronous phase information were extracted via offline calculations using Python *** calibration coefficient of the system was determined using a commercial streak ***,this technique was tested on two different storage rings and successfully captured various longitudinal transient processes during the harmonic cavity debugging process at the Shanghai Synchrotron radiation Facility(SSrF),and longitudinal instabilities were observed during the single-bunch accumulation process at Hefei Light Source(HLS).For Gaussian-distribution bunches,the uncertainty of the bunch phase obtained using this technique was better than 0.2 ps,and the bunch-length uncertainty was better than 1 *** dynamic range exceeded 10 *** technology is a powerful and versatile beam diagnostic tool that can be conveniently deployed in high-energy electron storage rings.
