Background： Colibacillosis caused by enterotoxigenic Escherichia coil （E. coil} results in economic losses in the poultry industry. Antibiotics are usually used to control colibacillosis, however, E. coli has varying degrees of resistance to different antibiotics. Therefore the use of probiotics is becoming accepted as an alternative to antibiotics. In this study, we evaluated the effects of Clostfidium butyricum （C. butyficum） on growth performance, immune response, intestinal barrier function, and digestive enzyme activity in broiler chickens challenged with Eschefichia coli （E. coil） K88. Methods： The chickens were randomly divided into four treatment groups for 28 days. Negative control treatment （NC） consisted of birds fed a basal diet without E. coil K88 challenge and positive control treatment （PC） consisted of birds fed a basal diet and challenged with E. coil K88. C. buO/ricum probiotic treatment （CB） consisted of birds fed a diet containing 2 x 107 cfu C. buO/ricum/kg of diet and challenged with E. coil K88. Colistin sulfate antibiotic treatment （CS） consisted of birds fed a diet containing 20 mg colistin sulfate/kg of diet and challenged with E. coil K88. Results： The body weight （BW） and average day gain （ADG） in the broilers of CB group were higher （P 〈 0.05） than the broilers in the PC group overall except the ADG in the 14-21 d post-challenge. The birds in CB treatment had higher （P 〈 0.05） concentration of tumor necrosis factor-a （TNF-a） at 3 and 7 d post-challenge, and higher （P 〈 0.05） concentration of interleukin-4 （IL-4） at 14 d post-challenge than those in the PC treatment group. The concentration of serum endotoxin in CB birds was lower （P 〈 0.05） at 21 d post-challenge, and the concentrations of serum diamine oxidase in CB birds were lower （P 〈 0.05） at 14 and 21 d post-challenge than in PC birds. Background： The growth rate often varies among individual broilers of the same breed under a common management condition. To investigate whether a variation in the growth rate is associated with a difference in hormone levels and myogenic gene expression profile in broilers, a feeding trial was conducted with 10,000 newly hatched Ross 308 chicks in a commercial production facility under standard management. At 38 d of age,30 fast-, 30 medium-, and 30 slow-growing broilers were selected among 600 healthy male individuals. The levels of insulin-like growth factor-1（IGF-1）, triiodothyronine（T3）, thyroxine（T4）, and growth hormone in the serum or breast muscle were assayed by ELISA or RIA kits, and the expression levels of several representative pro-and anti-myogenic genes in the breast muscle were also measured by real-time ***： Results showed that both absolute and relative weights of the breast muscle were in linear positive correlations with the body weight of broilers（P 〈 0.001）. Fast-growing broilers had higher concentrations of IGF-1 than slow-growing broilers（P 〈 0.05） in both the serum and breast muscle. The serum concentration of T3 was significantly higher in fast-growing birds than in slow-growing birds（P 〈 0.05）. However, no difference was observed in growth hormone or T4 concentration among three groups of birds. Additionally, a decreased expression of an anti-myogenic gene（myostatin） and increased expressions of pro-myogenic genes such as myogenic differentiation factor 1, myogenin, muscle regulatory factor 4, myogenic factor 5, IGF-1, and myocyte enhancer factor 2B, C, and D were observed in fast-growing broilers（P 〈 0.05）, relative to slow-growing ***： Collectively, these findings suggested that the growth rate is linked to the hormone and myogenic gene expression levels in broiler chickens. Some of these parameters such as serum concentrations of IGF-1 and T3 could be employed to breed for enhanced growth.

A novel zeolite-coated fiber sensors for detection of volatile organic compounds （VOCs） based on the Fabry-Perot interferometer was proposed and demonstrated. The sensor comprised a polycrystalline silicalite thin film grown up on the cleaved end face of a standard single-mode fiber. The inline Fabry-Perot cavity was composed by the end face of the single-mode fiber and the thin film. The sensor device operated by measuring the interference signal, which was a function of the amount of chemical vapor adsorption in its crystalline micro porous structure. Experimental results showed that the proposed VOC sensor worked well and the sensitivities were 2.78×10^-3dB/ppm when the concentration ranged from 350ppm to 2100ppm and 1.23×10^-3 dB/ppm when the concentration ranged from 2100ppm to 5250 ppm.

Syntheses, Crystal Structures and Thermal Stability of Two Complexes of La(Ⅲ)/Ce(Ⅲ) Assembled by H_2TBTA and Phen

Two 2D layer complexes {[La（TBTA）1.5（phen）2H2O].3H2O}n （1） and {[Ce（TBTA）l.5（phen）2H2O]-3H2O}n （2）（H2TBTA = 2,3,5,6-tetrabromoterephthalic acid, phen = 1.10-phenanthroline） have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analyses, IR spectra and thermogravimetric analyses. Both crystals belong to monoclinic, space group P21/n. Crystal data for 1： a = 8.7097（11）, b = 34.276（4）, c = 13.7281（17） A, β = 95.397（2）°, V= 4080.1（9） A3, Z = 4, LaC36H24Br6N4O10, Mr= 1290.96, Dc = 2.102 g/cm3,μ（MoKa） = 6.983 mm-1, F（000） = 2460.0, T = 296（2） K, the final R （I 〉 2σ（I）） = 0.0478 and wR （all data） = 0.0985 for 10127 independent （Rint = 0.0775） and 7137 observed reflections with I 〉 2σ（I）. Crystal data for 2： a = 8.709（2）, b = 34.202（9）, c = 13.685（4） A, β = 95.714（4）, V= 4055.9（19） A3, Z = 4, CeBr6C36H24O10N4, Mr = 1292.17, Dc = 2.116 g/cm3, μ（MoKa） = 7.094 mm-1, F（000） = 2464.0, T= 296（2） K, the final R（I 〉 2σ（I）） = 0.0590 and wR（all data） = 0.1453 for 10014 independent （Rint = 0.1253） and 6081 observed reflections with I 〉 2σ（I）. Both complexes are allomerism with the general molecular formula of {[M（TBTA）1.5（phen）2H2O].3H2O}n. In the structures, the H2TBTA ligands adopt a monodentate coordination mode. Both the 2D layer frameworks are further extended to be 3D layers via H-bonding interactions.

Ultrafine mesoporous tungsten carbide （WC） was prepared from as-synthesized mesoporous WC using high-energy ball milling treatment. X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and nitrogen adsorption-desorption techniques were used to characterize the samples. Brunauer-Emmett-Teller （BET） surface areas of WC samples increased with the increasing ball milling time and kept constant at 10-11 mZog 1 for over 9 h. The electrocatalytic properties of methanol electro-oxidation at WC powder microelectrodes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, and quasi-steady-state polarization techniques. The results reveal that ball-milled WC exhibits higher activity for methanol electro-oxidation than as-synthesized mesoporous WC. The suitability of ball-milled WC for methanol electro-oxidation is better than platinum （Pt） micro-disk, although the current peak is not as high as the Pt micro-disk. Moreover, increasing the methanol concentration and reaction temperature promotes methanol electro-oxidation on ultrafine mesoporous WC.

Effects of anaerobic composting on tetracycline degradation in swine manure

Oxytetracycline(OTC) and tetracycline(TC) are the most common TC antibiotics used in human and veterinary *** amounts of these antibiotics in manure pose a potential threat to public and ecological health as a result of the potential for them to be released to the environment following land application of manure from animals treated with *** investigated the degradation of OTC and TC during anaerobic *** tested the effects of temperature and antibiotic concentration on degradation rates in a control and in manure spiked with *** examined changes in p H,biological degradation material(BDM),and moisture corresponding with antibiotic degradation of TCs in the swine *** showed that the OTC and TC concentrations decreased by between 68.54% and 95.50% in all nine treatments following 14 days of anaerobic composting,and the highest removal ef ficiencies were observed at an incubation temperature of 55°C and initial concentrations of 10.36 μg·g^(-1),and 5.96 μg·g^(-1) of OTC and TC,respectively,which were degraded by 95.50%,and 90.06%.During composting at 55 °C and at added concentrations of 5 μg·g^(-1),OTC decreased rapidly,and the time required for50% and 90% degradation was 4.1 and 9.8 days,respectively;for TC,these values were 4.4 and 14.0 days,*** ef ficiencies for all TCs correlated well with moisture content of the *** results show that composting may be a practical and useful means to reduce concentrations of OTC and TC in swine manure prior to its land application.

AISI 304 stainless steel plates were welded with activated flux tungsten inert gas(A-TIG) method by utilizing self-developed activated flux. It is indicated from the experimental results that for 8 mm-thick AISI 304 stainless steel plate, weld joint of full penetration and one-side welding with good weld appearance can be obtained in a single pass without groove preparation by utilizing A-TIG welding. Moreover, activated flux powders do not cause significant effect on the microstructure of TIG weld and the mechanical properties of A-TIG weld joints are also superior to those of C-TIG(conventional TIG) welding.

In this work,shape-stabilized solid-solid phase change materials(PCMs)were fabricated by simply electrospinning polyethylene glycol(PEG)and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA).Owing to the strong hydrogen bonds and entanglement between those molecular chains of PEG and PVA,PEG was packaged by *** morphological structures,thermal stability and thermal energy storage properties of those fibers were *** results showed that those electrospun PVA/PEG composite membranes hold a three-dimensional nonwoven web structure even the content of PEG as high as 70%.The thermal energy storage ability of those composite fibers increased with the increase of the content of *** heat enthalpies of PEG/PVA=7/3 were as high as 78.806 J/***,those composite fibers had excellent thermal *** 100 heating and cooling cycles,there was almost no obvious change in the melting enthalpy and crystallization *** fibers still maintained good thermal *** simple preparation process,low cost of raw materials and excellent stability endow the PCMs great utilization potentiality in smart textile and energy storage systems.

Noble metal nanoantenna could effectively enhance light absorption and increase detection sensitivity. In this paper,we propose a periodic Ag diamond nanoantenna array to increase the absorption of thin-film solar cells and to improve the detection sensitivity via localized surface plasmon resonance. The effect of nanoantenna arrays on the absorption enhancement is theoretically investigated using the finite difference time domain（FDTD） method with manipulating the spectral response by geometrical parameters of nanoantennas. A maximum absorption enhancement factor of 1.51 has been achieved in this study. In addition, the relation between resonant wavelength（intensity reflectivity） and refractive index is discussed in detail. When detecting the environmental index using resonant wavelengths, a maximum detection sensitivity of about 837 nm/RIU（refractive index unit） and a resolution of about 10-3RIU can be achieved. Moreover, when using the reflectivity, the sensitivity can be as high as 0.93 AU/RIU. Furthermore, we also have theoretically studied the effectiveness of nanoantennas in distinguishing chemical reagents, solution concentrations, and solution allocation ratios by detecting refractive index. From the results presented in this paper, we conclude that this work might be useful for biosensor detection and other types of detections.
