The deterministic condition for the ground reaction force acting point on the combined knee valgus and tibial internal rotation moments in early phase of cutting maneuvers in female athletes

Background:Combined knee valgus and tibial internal rotation(VL+IR)moments have been shown to stress the anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)in several in vitro cadaveric *** utilize this knowledge for non-contact ACL injury prevention in sports,it is necessary to elucidate how the ground reaction force(GRF)acting point(center of pressure(CoP))in the stance foot produces combined knee VL+IR moments in risky maneuvers,such as ***,the effects of the GRF acting point on the development of the combined knee VL+IR moment in cutting are still ***:We first established the deterministic mechanical condition that the CoP position relative to the tibial rotational axis differentiates the GRF vector’s directional probability for developing the combined knee VL+IR moment,and theoretically predicted that when the CoP is posterior to the tibial rotational axis,the GRF vector is more likely to produce the combined knee VL+IR moment than when the CoP is anterior to the tibial rotational ***,we tested a stochastic aspect of our theory in a lab-controlled in vivo *** females performed 60˚cutting under forefoot/rearfoot strike conditions(10 trials each).The positions of lower limb markers and GRF data were measured,and the knee moment due to GRF vector was *** trials were divided into anterior-and posterior-CoP groups depending on the CoP position relative to the tibial rotational axis at each 10 ms interval from 0 to 100 ms after foot strike,and the occurrence rate of the combined knee VL+IR moment was compared between trial ***:The posterior-CoP group showed significantly higher occurrence rates of the combined knee VL+IR moment(maximum of 82.8%)at every time point than those of the anterior-CoP trials,as theoretically predicted by the deterministic mechanical ***:The rearfoot strikes inducing the posterior CoP should be avoided to reduce the risk of non-contact ACL injury associated with the com

Krein space representation and Lorentz groups of analytic Hilbert modules

This paper aims to introduce some new ideas into the study of submodules in Hilbert spaces of analytic functions. The effort is laid out in the Hardy space over the bidisk H^2(D^2). A closed subspace M in H^2(D^2) is called a submodule if ziM ? M(i = 1, 2). An associated integral operator(defect operator) CM captures much information about M. Using a Kre??n space indefinite metric on the range of CM, this paper gives a representation of M. Then it studies the group(called Lorentz group) of isometric self-maps of M with respect to the indefinite metric, and in finite rank case shows that the Lorentz group is a complete invariant for congruence relation. Furthermore, the Lorentz group contains an interesting abelian subgroup(called little Lorentz group) which turns out to be a finer invariant for M.

We discuss the Atiyah-Drinfeld-Hitchin-Manin （ADHM） construc- tion of U（N） instantons in noncommutative （NC） space and give some exact instanton solutions for various noncommutative settings. We also present a new formula which is crucial to show an origin of the instanton number for U（1） and to prove the one-to-one correspondence between moduli spaces of the noncommutative instantons and the ADHM data.

Case study of debris flow disaster scenario caused by torrential rain on Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto, Japan - using Hyper KANAKO system

This paper presents debris-flow numerical simulations using the Hyper KANAKO system,developed by the *** system uses the debris flow simulator KANAKO 2D equipped with a graphical user interface(GUI);hence,a user can easily produce appropriate landform data for simulations using standard laser profiler data,and visualize the results using a *** KANAKO was applied to the streams around Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto,***-dera is a famous temple in Japan which is visited by numerous tourists throughout the *** simulated a disaster scenario of debris flow caused by torrential *** set the hydrograph using rainfall intensity data,and set the landform data using information from the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan(GSI) and a digital elevation model(DEM).We evaluated different mesh sizes and also used a digital surface model(DSM) to consider the building *** simulation results showed that with small mesh size,the debris flowmoved through the roads,which seems realistic for a disaster *** buildings were considered,the flow direction changed,and a 1-m flow depth,which was deeper than in other cases,appeared in the flow *** may pose a dangerous situation for evacuations.

Debris flows form deposits when they reach an alluvial fan until they eventually ***,houses located in the alluvial fan might affect the debris flow flooding and deposition *** previous studies have considered the effects of houses on debris flow flooding and *** study conducted model experiments and numerical simulations using the Kanako2D debris flow simulator to determine the influence of houses on debris flow flooding and *** model experiments showed that when houses are present,the debris flow spreads widely in the cross direction immediately upstream of the houses,especially when the flow discharge is large or the grain size is *** located in the alluvial fan also influence the deposition *** presence of houses led to flooding and deposition damage in some places and reduced the damage in *** simulation also demonstrated the influence of *** the model experiment and the simulation showed that houses change the flooding and deposition areas.

Accelerated degradation of a variety of aromatic compounds by Spirodela polyrrhiza-bacterial associations and contribution of root exudates released from S. polyrrhiza

Removal experiments of phenol, aniline, 2,4-dichlorophenol, nonylphenol and bisphenol A （BPA） using Spirodela polyrrhiza- bacterial associations revealed that all compounds but BPA underwent accelerated removal. The mechanisms differed depending on the substrates. It was found that S. polyrrhiza has a great ability to release phenolic compound-rich root exudates, and the exudates seem to stimulate bacterial degradation of a variety of aromatic compounds.

Recent advances in ultrasonic-assisted machining for the fabrication of micro/nano-textured surfaces

In this paper, the state of art of ultrasonic- assisted machining technologies used for fabrication of micro/nano-textured surfaces is reviewed. Diamond machining is the most widely used method in industry for manufacturing precision parts. For fabrication of fine structures on surfaces, conventional diamond machining methods are competitive by considering the precision of structures, but have limitations at machinable structures and machining efficiency, which have been proved to be partly solved by the integration of ultrasonic vibration motion. In this paper, existing ultrasonic-assisted machin- ing methods for fabricating fine surface structures are reviewed and classified, and a rotary ultrasonic texturing （RUT） technology is mainly introduced by presenting the construction of vibration spindles, the texturing principles, and the applications of textured surfaces. Some new ideas and experimental results are presented. Finally, the challenges in using the RUT method to fabricate micro/ nano-textured surfaces are discussed with respect to texturing strategies, machinable structures, and tool wear.

Ductility improvement methods for commercial AZ31B magnesium alloy in cold forging

In order to realize cold forging of magnesium alloys in practical application,some methods for ductility improvement of a commercial wrought AZ31B magnesium alloy(Mg-3%Al-1%Zn,mass fraction) at room temperature were *** effects of heat treatment before forging and hydrostatic pressure during forging on the ductility were investigated in cold upsetting and cup ***-temperature annealing was effective to reduce the degree of the texture anisotropy of the specimen,and it was found that the forging limit of the annealed specimen was improved in cold *** the other hand,cold cup forging of the annealed specimen was carried out with applying counter *** applying counter pressures of 100-200 MPa during forging,the critical punch stroke for forging limit of the specimen without crack was improved by 25%in punch stroke.

Time-dependent effects of castration on the bladder function and histological changes in the bladder and blood vessels

We examined the effect of androgens on bladder blood flow （BBF）, bladder function and histological changes in castrated male rats. Male Wistar rats were classified into unoperated group （control group）, groups castrated at the age of 8weeks （group 8wPC） and groups castrated at the age of 4weeks （group 4wPC）. Each rat was used at the age of 20weeks. BBF was measured using fluorescent microspheres. Bladder cystometry was performed without anesthesia or restraint; the bladder was first irrigated with saline and then with 0.25% acetic acid （AA） solution. Maximum voiding pressure and voiding interval were measured. The bladder and lilac artery were histologically examined for differences in smooth muscle and quantity of collagen fiber to analyze the effect of castration on the smooth muscle content. No differences were noted in BBF following castration. The voiding intervals for all groups were shortened （P 〈 0.001） following AA irrigation. No significant difference was noted in the maximum voiding pressure. Histological changes were observed in bladder and lilac artery. Smooth muscle/collagen ratio at the bladder was lower in groups 8wPC and 4wPC compared to the control group （P 〈 0.01）, while that at the lilac artery was decreased in group 4wPC compared to the control group （P〈 0.001）. In conclusion, our findings indicate that castration does not alter BBF, but leads to histological changes in the bladder as well as its associated blood vessels.

Solving composite scheduling problems using the hybrid genetic algorithm

This paper dealt with composite scheduling problems which combine manufacturing scheduling problems and/or transportation routing *** scheduling models were formulated as the elements of the composite scheduling model,and the composite model was formulated composing these models with indispensable additional constraints.A hybrid genetic algorithm was developed to solve the composite scheduling *** improved representation based on random keys was developed to search permutation space.A genetic algorithm based dynamic programming approach was applied to select *** proposed technique and a previous technique are compared by three types of *** results indicate that the proposed technique is superior to the previous one.
