A machine learning approach for accelerated design of magnesium alloys. part A:Alloy data and property space

Typically, magnesium alloys have been designed using a so-called hill-climbing approach, with rather incremental advances over the past century. Iterative and incremental alloy design is slow and expensive, but more importantly it does not harness all the data that exists in the field. In this work, a new approach is proposed that utilises data science and provides a detailed understanding of the data that exists in the field of Mg-alloy design to date. In this approach, first a consolidated alloy database that incorporates 916 datapoints was developed from the literature and experimental work. To analyse the characteristics of the database, alloying and thermomechanical processing effects on mechanical properties were explored via composition-process-property matrices. An unsupervised machine learning(ML) method of clustering was also implemented, using unlabelled data, with the aim of revealing potentially useful information for an alloy representation space of low dimensionality. In addition, the alloy database was correlated to thermodynamically stable secondary phases to further understand the relationships between microstructure and mechanical properties. This work not only introduces an invaluable open-source database, but it also provides, for the first-time data, insights that enable future accelerated digital Mg-alloy design.

part Supply Method for Mixed-Model Assembly Lines with Decentralized Supermarkets

In-house part supply affects the efficiency of mixed-model assembly lines considerably. Hence, we propose a reliable Just-In-Time part supply strategy with the use of decentralized supermarkets. For a given production sequence and line layout, the proposed strategy schedules tow train routing and delivery problems jointly to minimize the number of employed town trains and the traveling time, while ensuring that stations never run out of parts. To solve this problem, a mathematical formulation is proposed for each sub-problem aiming at minimizing supply cost. Then, a dynamic programming algorithm for routing and a greedy algorithm for delivery are developed, both of which are of polynomial runtime. Finally, a computational study is implemented to validate the effectiveness of the strategy, and to investigate the effects of the delivery capacity of tow trains and storage capacity of stations on supply cost.

80a-Oscillation of Summer Rainfall over the East part of China and East-Asian Summer Monsoon

Relationship between summer rainfall over the east part of China and East-Asian Summer Monsoon (EASM) was studied based on the summer rainfall grade data set from 1470 to 1999 and the rain gauge data set from 1951 to 1999 over the east part of China, and sea level pressure (SLP) data for the period of 1871-2000. A distinct 80a-oscillation of summer rainfall was found over North China (NC), southern part of Northeast China, over the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River (YR) and South China (SC). The 80a oscillation of summer rainfall over NC was varied in phase with that over SC, and was out of phase to that along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Summer rainfall over NC correlated negatively with the SLP averaged for the area from 105 degreesE to 120 degreesE, and from 30 degreesN to 35 degreesN, but positively to that for the area from 120 degreesE to 130 degreesE, and from 20 degreesN to 25 degreesN. Therefore, an index of EASM was defined by the difference of averaged SLP over the two regions. The summer rainfall over NC was greater than normal when the EASM was strong, and while drought occurred along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The drought was found over NC, and flood along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River when the EASM was close to normal. Finally, the interdecadal variability of EASM was studied by using of long term summer rainfall grade data set over NC for the past 530 years.

An Observational Study of the 30-50 Day Atmospheric Oscillations part II: Temporal Evolution and Hemispheric Interaction across the Equator

The annual variation of 30-50 day oscillation is quite obvious in the mid-high latitudes. In the tropical atmosphere the obvious interannual variation is an important property for temporal evolution of 30-50 day oscillation. The low-frequency wavetrain across the equator over the central Pacific and central Atlantic area the movement of the long-lived low-frequency system across the equator and the meridional wind component across the equator will obviously show the interaction of 30-50 day oscillation in the atmosphere across the equator.

In this part, the temporal evolution and interaction across the equator of 30-50 day oscillation in the atmosphere are investigated further. The annual variation of 30-50 day oscillation is quite obvious in the mid-high latitudes. In the tropical atmosphere, the obvious interannual variation is an important property for temporal evolution of 30-50 day oscillation. Rift-associated ultramafic lamprophyre(damtjernite) from the middle part of the Lower Cretaceous(125 Ma) succession of Kutch,northwestern India: Tectonomagmatic implications

Mineralogical,geochemical and isotopic(Sr and Nd) studies on the recently reported ca. 124 Ma'anorogenic lamproite' dyke from the Palanpur area, Kutch seismogenic rift zone, northwestern India, are presented. We propose a new classification for the dyke as a damtjernite(ultramafic lamprophyre; UML)based on its porphyritic-panidiomorphic texture, abundance of phlogopite, presence of nepheline in the groundmass, and the composition of liquidus phases such as olivine, phlogopite, magnetite, and clinopyroxene(diopside). The Palanpur UML is primitive(Mg# =74-77),silica-undersaturated(SiO_2partial melting of a primitive garnet lherzolite mantle can account for the observed REE patterns in the Palanpur UML. The Palanpur UML shares a temporal similarity to the Kerguelen plume-derived Rajmahal basalts and associated alkaline rocks from the eastern India. The tectonomagmatic
