Nanowrinkled Carbon Aerogels Embedded with FeN_(x) Sites as Effective Oxygen Electrodes for Rechargeable Zinc-Air Battery

Rational design of single-metal atom sites in carbon substrates by a flexible strategy is highly desired for the preparation of high-performance catalysts for metal-air *** this study,biomass hydrogel reactors are utilized as structural templates to prepare carbon aerogels embedded with single iron atoms by controlled *** tortuous and interlaced hydrogel chains lead to the formation of abundant nanowrinkles in the porous carbon aerogels,and single iron atoms are dispersed and stabilized within the defective carbon skeletons.X-ray absorption spectroscopy measurements indicate that the iron centers are mostly involved in the coordination structure of FeN_(4),with a minor fraction(ca.1/5)in the form of FeN_(3)***-principles calculations show that the FeN_(x) sites in the Stone-Wales configurations induced by the nanowrinkles of the hierarchically porous carbon aerogels show a much lower free energy than the normal *** resulting iron and nitrogen-codoped carbon aerogels exhibit excellent and reversible oxygen electrocatalytic activity,and can be used as bifunctional cathode catalysts in rechargeable Zn-air batteries,with a performance even better than that based on commercial Pt/C and RuO_(2) *** from this study highlight the significance of structural distortions of the metal sites in carbon matrices in the design and engineering of highly active single-atom catalysts.

Study on the Effect of Indolebutyric Acid-Lanthanum Chelate on Vegetable Growth and Its Molecular Mechanism

In order to reduce the non-point source pollution caused by the large or excessive application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides,this study was aimed to develop new alternative functional *** effects of different concentrations of indolebutyric acid-lanthanum chelate on seed germination and tomato seedling growth were studied by germination test of cucumber and tomato seeds and pot experiment of tomato *** results showed that the optimum concentration of indolebutyric acid-lanthanum chelate could promote the germination and growth of tomato and cucumber *** them,0.02 mg/L of indolebutyric acid-lanthanum chelate is the optimum concentration for tomato and cucumber seed *** the concentration is 0.1 mg/L,it is the optimum concentration for radicle and hypocotyl *** the pot experiment,when the optimum concentration of indolebutyric acid-lanthanum chelate on tomato seedlings was 0.5 mg/L,the plant height,stem diameter,aboveground biomass,underground biomass and leaf area of tomato seedlings could be significantly *** the same time,the absorption of the main elements P,K,Mg and trace elements Fe,Mn,Cu,Zn and Na and their transfer from the underground part to the aboveground part of the seedlings were *** relative expression of the tomato expansion protein genes leEXP2,leEXP18 and leEXP5 was also significantly ***,the suitable concentration of indolebutyric acid-lanthanum chelate has the effect of promoting root growth and promoting the quality of tomato seedlings.

Lkb1 deficiency confers the Kras-mutant lung cancer with strong plasticity and the potential for adeno-to-squamous transdifferentiation(AST).However,it remains largely unknown how Lkb1 deficiency dynamically regulates *** the classical AST mouse model(Kras LSL-G12D/+;Lkb1flox/flox,KL),we here comprehensively analyze the temporal transcriptomic dynamics of lung tumors at different stages by dynamic network biomarker(DNB)and identify the tipping point at which the Wnt signaling is abruptly suppressed by the excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)through its downstream effector *** genetic perturbation of the Wnt pathway using two different Ctnnb1 conditional knockout mouse strains confirms its essential role in the negative regulation of ***,pharmacological activation of the Wnt pathway before but not after the tipping point inhibits squamous transdifferentiation,highlighting the irreversibility of AST after crossing the tipping *** comparative transcriptomic analyses of mouse and human tumors,we find that the lineage-specific transcription factors(TFs)of adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma form a“Yin-Yang”counteracting ***,inactivation of the Wnt pathway preferentially suppresses the adenomatous lineage TF network and thus disrupts the“Yin-Yang”homeostasis to lean towards the squamous lineage,whereas ectopic expression of NKX2-1,an adenomatous lineage TF,significantly dampens such phenotypic transition accelerated by the Wnt pathway *** negative correlation between the Wnt pathway and AST is further observed in a large cohort of human lung adenosquamous ***,our study identifies the tipping point of AST and highlights an essential role of the ROS-Wnt axis in dynamically orchestrating the homeostasis between adeno-and squamous-specific TF networks at the AST tipping point.

Natural regeneration characteristics of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica forests on sandy land in Honghuaerji, China

Natural regeneration in Mongolian pine, Pinus sylvesttis var. mongolica, forest at Honghuaerji of China （the original of the natural Mongolian pine, forest on sandy land） was studied in 2004. The total mean values of regeneration indexes were higher in mature stands （more than 80% individual stems were older than 50 years）, the maximum of regeneration index reached 29 seedlings, m^ 2, with lowest values in the younger stand, e.g., in 32-year old and 43-year old stands. The stand age was an important factor determining the natural regeneration, which was the best in the older stands in this investigation （e.g. about 80-year old）. The regeneration index seemed not to be closely in relation to canopy openness although Mongolian pine is a photophilic tree species. In each type of gaps, natural regeneration was very well. Regeneration indexes were satisfactory at the south and east edges in the circle gaps; and at the east edge of the narrow-square gaps. Results indicated that Mongolian pine, seedlings could endure shading understory, but it would not enter the canopy layer without gap or large disturbance, e.g., fire, wind/snow damage or clear cutting etc. These results may provide potentially references to the management and afforestation of Mongolian pine, plantations on sandy land in arid and semi-arid areas. Researches such as the comprehensive comparisons on regeneration, structure and ecological conditions and so on between natural Mongolian pine, forests and plantations should be conducted in the future.

As a new type of iron-based superconductor, CaKFe_(4)As_(4) has recently been demonstrated to be a promising platform for observing Majorana zero modes (MZMs). The surface of CaKFe_(4)As_(4) plays an important role in realizing the MZM since it hosts superconducting topological surface states. However, due to the complicated crystal structure, the terminal surface of CaKFe_(4)As_(4) has not been determined yet. Here, by using scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/S), we find that there are two types of surface structure in CaKFe_(4)As_(4). Bias-dependent atomic resolution images show an evolvement from 2–√×2–√ superstructure with respect to the As lattice into 1 × 1 when the tip is brought close to the surface, revealing the sublattice of missing As atoms. Together with the first-principles calculations, we show that the surface As layer has a buckled structure. Our findings provide insight to future surface study of CaKFe_(4)As_(4) as well as other iron-pnictide superconductors.

Propagation of Recombinant Genes through Complex Microbiomes with Synthetic Mini-RP4 Plasmid Vectors

The promiscuous conjugation machinery of the Gram-negative plasmid RP4 has been reassembled in a minimized, highlytransmissible vector for propagating genetically encoded traits through diverse types of naturally occurring microbialcommunities. To this end, the whole of the RP4-encoded transfer determinants (tra, mob genes, and origin of transfer oriT)was excised from their natural context, minimized, and recreated in the form of a streamlined DNA segment borne by anautoselective replicon. The resulting constructs (the pMATING series) could be self-transferred through a variety ofprokaryotic and eukaryotic recipients employing such a rationally designed conjugal delivery device. Insertion of GFP reporterinto pMATING exposed the value of this genetic tool for delivering heterologous genes to both specific mating partners andcomplex consortia (e.g., plant/soil rhizosphere). The results accredited the effective and functional transfer of the recombinantplasmids to a diversity of hosts. Yet the inspection of factors that limit interspecies DNA transfer in such scenarios uncoveredtype VI secretion systems as one of the factual barriers that check otherwise high conjugal frequencies of tested RP4derivatives. We argue that the hereby presented programming of hyperpromiscuous gene transfer can become a phenomenalasset for the propagation of beneficial traits through various scales of the environmental microbiome.
