Biochar-induced changes in the soil diazotroph community abundance and structure in a peanut field trial

Biological nitrogen fixation(BNF)can help replenish available nitrogen(N)in cropland and reduce the use of chemical N fertilizers,with diazotrophs playing an important ***,the response of diazotroph community and BNF activity in biochar amendment soil,especially in the deep soil horizon,are poorly *** this study,soil samples were collected from topsoil(0-20 cm)and subsoil(20-40 cm)in the field experiment(established in 2013)comprising treatments with no chemical fertilizer(CK),chemical fertilizer(NPK),biochar(BC),and biochar plus chemical fertilizers(BNPK).Here,we investigated the diazotroph community using real-time PCr and high-throughput sequencing of the nifH gene,and assessed the soil N_(2)fixation rate(r_(Nfix))using acetylene reduction assay(ArA).results showed that in the topsoil,the treatments with biochar significantly increased nifH gene copies and r_(Nfix),which was consistent with the increased soil organic matter(SOM),total carbon-to-nitrogen ratio(C/N),dissolved organic carbon(dOC)and *** the subsoil,applying chemical fertilizers(NPK)strongly decreased r_(Nfix),but had no effect on diazotroph abundance;in contrast,biochar application(BC)had no effect on r_(Nfix),but suppressed the growth of bacteria and diazotrophs while increasing the abundance of rhizobiales *** and bacterial gene copies were significantly and positively correlated in both top-and sub-soil,and they were mainly influenced by SOM and total nitrogen(TN).In addition,soil nitrate nitrogen(NO_(3)^(−)-N)was the major factor in shaping the vertical stratification of diazotroph community *** nifH gene abundance was significantly cor-related with r_(Nfix)in the topsoil,the structure equation modeling(SEM)showed the highest correlation between diazotroph community structure and r_(Nfix).Hence,we suggested that soil carbon and nitrogen sources were the key factors correlated with changes in the vertical pattern of diazotroph *** ind

Efficacy of hierarchical pore structure in enhancing the tribological and recyclable smart lubrication performance of porous polyimide

Herein,a porous oil-containing material with hierarchical pore structure was successfully prepared through microtexturing large pores on the surface of porous polyimide(PPI)with single-level small *** to the conventional oil-containing material,the hierarchically porous oil-containing material exhibited high oil-content,and retained excellent mechanical properties and high oil-retention because of the synergistic effects of large pores and small ***,the lubricant stored in the hierarchically porous polyimide could release to the interface under thermal-and-mechano-stimuli,and the released lubricant could be reabsorbed into the hierarchically porous polyimide via the capillary-force offered by the porous *** on the high oil-content and recyclable oil release/reabsorption,the hierarchically porous oil-containing polyimide exhibited excellent lubrication performance(coefficient of friction was 0.057).Furthermore,the composite could perform 1,069 cycles of smart lubrication(1 h per cycle),which significantly extended the service life of the hierarchically porous oil-containing smart lubrication material.

SArS-CoV-2 infection is a global public health *** are considered amongst the most important tools to control the SArS-CoV-2 *** expected,deaths from SArS-CoV-2 infection have dropped dramatically with widespread ***,there are concerns over the duration of vaccine-induced protection,as well as their effectiveness against emerging variants of ***,we constructed a recombinant chimpanzee adenovirus vectored vaccine expressing the full-length spike of SArS-CoV-2(Ad C68-S).rapid and high levels of humoral and cellular immune responses were observed after immunization of C57BL/6J mice with one or two doses of Ad ***,neutralizing antibodies were observed up to at least six months after vaccination,without substantial *** or double doses Ad C68-S immunization resulted in lower viral loads in lungs of mice against SArS-CoV-2 challenge both in the short term(21 days)and long-term(6 months).Histopathological examination of Ad C68-S immunized mice lungs showed mild histological abnormalities after SArS-CoV-2 *** together,this study demonstrates the efficacy and durability of the Ad C68-S vaccine and constitutes a promising candidate for clinical evaluation.

Background:Macrovascular invasion(MaVI)occurs in nearly half of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients at diagnosis or during follow-up,which causes severe disease deterioration,and limits the possibility of surgical *** study aimed to investigate whether computed tomography(CT)-based radiomics analysis could help predict development of MaVI in ***:A cohort of 226 patients diagnosed with HCC was enrolled from 5 hospitals with complete MaVI and prognosis ***-based radiomics signature was built via multi-strategy machine learning ***,MaVI-related clinical factors and radiomics signature were integrated to construct the final prediction model(CrIM,clinical-radiomics integrated model)via random forest ***-regression analysis was used to select independent risk factors to predict the time of MaVI ***-Meier analysis was conducted to stratify patients according to the time of MaVI development,progression-free survival(PFS),and overall survival(OS)based on the selected risk ***:The radiomics signature showed significant improvement for MaVI prediction compared with conventional clinical/radiological predictors(PrIM could predict MaVI with satisfactory areas under the curve(AUC)of 0.986 and 0.979 in the training(n=154)and external validation(n=72)datasets,*** presented with excellent generalization with AUC of 0.956,1.000,and 1.000 in each external cohort that accepted disparate CT scanning protocol/***9_fos_Interquartilerange[hazard ratio(Hr)=1.98;Pd as the independent risk *** cox-regression model successfully stratified patients into the high-risk and low-risk groups regarding the time of MaVI development(Pd OS(P=0.002).Conclusions:The CT-based quantitative radiomics analysis could enable high accuracy prediction of subsequent MaVI development in HCC with prognostic implications.

Ceramic matrix composite(CMC),with higher thermal limit and lower density relative to the superalloy,is regarded as the most important structural material for modern gas turbine ***,the anisotropic thermal conductivities caused by the weave patterns totally change the thermal conduction performance inside the solid ***,the present study aims to use the infrared thermographic to measure the SiC/SiC composite platform with staggered effusion holes along with the superalloy *** platform is prepared by 2-d plain weave braid structure with chemical vapor infiltration(CVI)*** temperature of mainstream is 900 K to match the real mainstream to coolant temperature ratio(T_(g)/T_(c)=1.5,2.1).The experimental was conducted with seven mass flow ratios(MFr=1.5%-4.5%).The results indicate that the thermal conductivity along the thickness direction is of great importance for the CMC *** superalloy platform obtains higher level of overall cooling effectiveness than CMC at T_(g)/T_(c)=***,the CMC platform achieves greater overall cooling effectiveness relative to superalloy at T_(g)/T_(c)=*** addition,CMC platform presents enhanced uniformity of overall cooling effectiveness due to the larger in-plane thermal conductivity.

Tripterygium wilfordii is a valuable medicinal plant rich in biologically active diterpenoids,but there are few studies on the origins of these diterpenoids in its secondary ***,we identified three regions containing tandemly duplicated diterpene synthase genes on chromosomes(Chr) 17 and 21 of T. wilfordii and obtained 11 diterpene synthases with different *** farther revealed that these diterpene synthases underwent duplication and rearrangement at approximately 2.3-23.7 million years ago(MYA) by whole-genome triplication(WGT),transposon mediation,and tandem duplication,followed by functional *** first demonstrated that four key amino acids in the sequences of TwCPS3,TwCPS5,and TwCPSS were altered during evolution,leading to their functional divergence and the formation of diterpene secondary ***,we demonstrated that the functional divergence of three TwKSLs was driven by mutations in two key amino ***,we discovered the mechanisms of evolution and pseudogenization of miltiradiene synthases in *** and elucidated that the new function in TwMS1/2 from the terpene synthase(TPS)-b subfamily was caused by progressive changes in multiple amino acids after the WGT *** results provide key evidence for the formation of diverse diterpenoids during the evolution of secondary metabolites in ***.
