The granitoids widely distributed in South China are characterized by multi-stage evolution via episodic intrusions,in a complex geodynamic *** granites have high radioactive heat generation and excellent thermal conductivity,a deep moderate-to high-temperature geothermal system can be formed in the presence of high-quality,fissured granite geothermal reservoirs and thermal insulation with appropriate cap *** key to exploring deep geothermal resources is to identify high-quality fissured granite geothermal reservoirs of a certain scale in a thermal anomaly zone with high background heatflow *** determine the controlling effects of the distribution and development characteristics of granite geothermal reservoirs on the generation and enrichment of deep geothermal resources,this study analyzed the characteristics of the geothermal reservoirs in the Huangshadong geothermal field in the Yuezhong Depression,Guangdong Province,and their controlling effects on the formation of geothermal *** results are as *** hydrothermal system in the Huangshadong geothermal field mainly distributed in the contact zones between magmatic plutons and surrounding rocks,is significantly controlled by faults,followed by neoid volcanic apparatus and magmatic *** is,the geothermal system therein is under joint control of structures and ***,fractured zones of neoid transtensional faults conduct the geothermal water in the hydrothermal system and control its shallow ***,the hydrothermal system in the study area is characterized by the control of transpressional tectonic zone and volcanic apparatus,and geothermal water conduction through fractured zones of transtensional faults.

deep bedrock geothermal resources in the Maichen Sag,Beibuwan Basin and their potential for exploitation and utilization

The Maichen Sag in the south-central part of the Beibuwan Basin is abundant in geothermal resources that have not been widely exploited and utilized due to inadequate research on *** study evaluated the geothermal resources in the Maichen Sag based on the regional geological setting and geothermal *** units for assessment and a geological model for areas with geothermal resources were established using spatial analysis *** spatial distribution models of the physical and thermophysical properties of the geothermal reservoirs were also built using the Kriging interpolation *** on the terrestrial heat flow distribution in the target areas,the spatial distribution of the geo-temperature field through the inversion under the constraints of the temperature data from boreholes were *** such as deep geo-temperature,thermophysical properties of rocks,and terrestrial heat flow values,were integrated into this quantitative evaluation of geothermal resources through the geological modeling-based volume method and the geothermal reservoir engineering-based numerical simulation *** results show that the Maichen Sag has favorable heat source conditions with intersected,deep-rooted faults and widely developed Upper Paleozoic fissured granite geothermal *** northern outer slope zone at a burial depth of 3‒5 km on the tectonic plane of the basement in the sag is suggested to be a potential target area,where,as calculated using the volume method,is likely to be the home to the total geothermal resources of 80.4×10^(9)GJ(i.e.,2.75×10^(9)tonnes of coal equivalent(tce))in the bedrock geothermal reservoirs at a burial depth of 3‒6 *** geotemperature of 172‒201℃at a formation depth of 5 km in the sag also indicates that the deep geothermal resources are of high value for exploitation.

Granite thermal reservoirs in Lingshui area of Hainan Island and their significance to geothermal resources,China

Hainan Island located at the southernmost tip of the continental crust of the South China Plate,has high terrestrial heat-flow values,widely-distributed hot springs,and rich geothermal *** researches on the origin and potentials of geothermal resources can promote Hainan Island's development into a clean energy *** determine the geological conditions for the formation of geothermal resources in southern Hainan Island,we collected core samples of granites from the Baocheng batholith in southern Hainan Island and conducted systematic analysis in respect of petrology,geochronology,geochemistry,and petrophysical *** results of this study are as *** Baocheng batholith in the southern Hainan Island has a crystallization age of 98.42±0.56 Ma,making it the product of magmatism in the early stage of the Late *** mainly consists of high-K calc-alkaline granites,which were intruded by intermediate-to-mafic *** Baocheng batholith has a high radioactive heat generation rate of 2.712-6.843μW/m^(3),with an average of 3.846μW/m^(3),a radioactive heat-flow value of 30.768 μW/m^(2)and a heat-flow contribution rate of 38.95%-43.95%.As shown by the results of their thermophysical property analysis,the granites have high thermal conductivity and can serve as highquality geothermal *** combination with previous geological and geophysical data,the geothermal model of the Lingshui area was established in this *** deep structure indicates the presence of high-conductivity and low-resistivity layers in the basement of the Baocheng *** can be inferred thereby that asthenospheric upwelling may occur and that there exist two magma vents at depth in the ***,magmatic heat at depth and granites with high radioactive heat generation rate serve as the main heat sources in the Lingshui area.
