Quasi-bound state in the continuum(QBIC)resonance is gradually attracting attention and being applied in Goos-Hänchen(GH)shift enhancement due to its high quality(Q)factor and superior optical ***,symmetry-protected QBIC resonance is often achieved by breaking the geometric symmetry,but few cases are achieved by breaking the material *** paper proposes a dielectric compound grating to achieve a high Q factor and high-reflection symmetry-protectede QBIC resonance based on material *** calculations show that the symmetry-protected QBIC resonance achieved by material asymmetry can significantly increase the GH shift up to-980 times the resonance wavelength,and the maximum GH shift is located at the reflection peak with unity *** paper provides a theoretical basis for designing and fabricating high-performance GH shift tunable metasurfaces/dielectric gratings in the future.

AIM:To evaluate scleral buckling(SB)surgery using a noncontact wide-field viewing system and 23-gauge intraocular illumination for the treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment in silicone oil(SO)-filled ***:Totally 9 patients(9 eyes)with retinal detachment in SO-filled eyes were retrospectively *** patients underwent non-contact wide-field viewing system-assisted buckling surgery with 23-gauge intraocular *** was removed at an appropriate time based on *** patients were followed up for at least 3mo after SO *** reattachment,complications,visual acuity and intraocular pressure(IOP)before and after surgery were ***:Patients were followed up for a mean of 8.22mo(3-22mo)after SO *** patients had retinal *** the final follow-up,visual acuity showed improvement for 8 patients,and no change for 1 *** IOP was high in 3 patients before surgery,but it stabilized after treatment;it was not affected in the other *** of the patients had infections,hemorrhage,anterior ischemia,or any other ***:This new non-contact wide-field viewing system-assisted SB surgery with 23-gauge intraocular illumination is effective and safe for retinal detachment in SO-filled eyes.

Inorganic phosphorus(Pi)deficiency significantly impacts plant growth,development,and photosynthetic *** study evaluated 206 rice accessions from a MiniCore population under both Pi-sufficient(Pi^(+))and Pi-starvation(Pi^(-))conditions in the field to assess photosynthetic phosphorus use efficiency(PPUE),defined as the ratio of A_(sat)^(Pi^(-))to A_(sat)^(Pi^(+)).A genome-wide association study and differential gene expression analyses identified an acid phosphatase gene(ACP2)that responds strongly to phosphate *** and knockout of ACP2 led to a 67%increase and 32%decrease in PPUE,respectively,compared with wild *** of an elite allele A,by substituting the v5 SNP G with A,resulted in an 18%increase in PPUE in gene-edited ACP2 rice *** phosphate-responsive gene PHR2 was found to transcriptionally activate ACP2 in parallel with PHR2 overexpression,resulting in an 11%increase in *** assays indicated that ACP2 primarily catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphoethanolamine and *** addition,serine levels increased significantly in the ACP2^(vBG)overexpression line,along with a concomitant decrease in the expression of all nine genes involved in the photorespiratory *** of serine enhanced PPUE and reduced photorespiration rates in ACP2 mutants under Pi-starvation *** deduce that ACP2 plays a crucial role in promoting photosynthesis adaptation to Pi starvation by regulating serine metabolism in rice.

This study investigated the effect of antioxidants on the grinding efficiency,magnetic powder characteristics,microstructure,and magnetic properties of 2:17 type SmCo permanent magnet *** results show that adding antioxidants helps improve the dispersion among magnetic powders,leading to a 33.3%decrease in jet milling time and a 15.8%increase in magnet powder production ***,adding antioxidants enhances the oxidation resistance of the magnetic *** being stored in a constant temperature air environment at 25C for 48 h,the O content in the powder decreased by 33%compared to samples without *** in the magnet body,the O content decreased from 0.21 wt.%to 0.14 wt.%,which helps increase the effective Sm content and domain wall pinning uniformity in the *** magnetic properties were obtained in the magnet with added antioxidants:B_(r)=11.6 kGs,SF=79.6%,H_(cj)=16.8 kOe,and(BH)_(max)=32.5 MGOe.

The Chinese herb Ephedra(also known as Mahuang)has been extensively utilized for the prevention and treatment of coronavirus-induced diseases,including coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).However,the specific anti-SARS-CoV-2 compounds and mechanisms have not been fully *** main protease(M^(pro))of SARS-CoV-2 is a highly conserved enzyme responsible for proteolytic processing during the viral life cycle,making it a critical target for the development of antiviral *** study aimed to identify naturally occurring covalent inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 M^(pro)from Ephedra and to investigate their covalent binding *** results demonstrated that the non-alkaloid fraction of Ephedra(ENA)exhibited a potent inhibitory effect against the SARS-CoV-2 M^(pro)effect,whereas the alkaloid fraction did ***,the chemical constituents in ENA were identified,and the major constituents'anti-SARS-CoV-2 M^(pro)effects were *** the tested constituents,herbacetin(HE)and gallic acid(GA)were found to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 M^(pro)in a time-and dose-dependent *** combination displayed a significant synergistic effect on this key ***,various techniques,including inhibition kinetic assays,chemoproteomic methods,and molecular dynamics simulations,were employed to further elucidate the synergistic anti-M^(pro)mechanisms of the combination of HE and ***,this study deciphers the naturally occurring covalent inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 M^(pro)from Ephedra and characterizes their synergistic anti-M^(pro)synergistic effect,providing robust evidence to support the anti-coronavirus efficacy of Ephedra.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,triggered by the novel coronavirus severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),has ravaged the globe,resulting in a staggering loss of life and wreaking havoc on the worldwide economy.[1,2]Sepsis is a cascade of abnormal responses provoked by infection,leading to a critical deterioration in organ function that poses a life-threatening risk.[3]However,it is unclear from published reports whether COVID-19 and sepsis are commonly aff ected by molecular ***,we performed a bioinformatics analysis to uncover shared diagnostic genes and potential mechanisms between COVID-19 and sepsis.

Dihalogenated nitrophenols(2,6-DHNPs),an emerging group of aromatic disinfection byproducts(DBPs)detected in drinking water,have limited available information regarding their persistence and toxicological *** present study found that 2,6-DHNPs are resistant to major drinking water treatment processes(sedimentation and filtration)and households methods(boiling,filtration,microwave irradiation,and ultrasonic cleaning).To further assess their health risks,we conducted a series of toxicology studies using zebrafish embryos as the model *** findings reveal that these emerging 2,6-DHNPs showed lethal toxicity 248 times greater than that of the regulated DBP,dichloroacetic ***,at sublethal concentrations,exposure to 2,6-DHNPs generated reactive oxygen species(ROS),caused apoptosis,inhibited cardiac looping,and induced cardiac failure in ***,the use of a ROS scavenger,N-acetyl-l-cysteine,considerably mitigated these adverse effects,emphasizing the essential role of ROS in 2,6-DHNP-induced *** findings highlight the cardiotoxic potential of 2,6-DHNPs in drinking water even at low concentrations of 19μg/L and the beneficial effect of N-acetyl-l-cysteine in alleviating the 2,6-DHNP-induced *** study underscores the urgent need for increased scrutiny of these emerging compounds in public health discussions.

To the Editor:5q spinal muscular atrophy(5qSMA)is an autosomal recessive neuromuscular disorder caused by the lack of the survival motor neuron(SMN)protein encoded by the SMN1 gene,located at 5q11.2-q13.3.[1]The incidence is 1/10,000-1/6000 live births,and the mutation carrier rate in China is 1/42.[1]Spinal muscular atrophy(SMA)is mainly divided into four subtypes:SMA type I,II,III,and IV,based on the motor milestones ever *** I-III occur in children,[1]which often result in progressive muscular atrophy and weakness as well as multi-system dysfunction,including nutritional and metabolic issues.[2]Children with SMA may have hidden nutritional and lipid imbalances,despite normal body appearance and anthropometric measurements,making it difcult to detect early and intervene.
