Research on performance optimization of virtual data space across WAN

For the high-performance computing in a WAN environment,the geographical locations of national supercomputing centers are scattered and the network topology is complex,so it is difficult to form a unified view of *** aggregate the widely dispersed storage resources of national supercomputing centers in China,we have previously proposed a global virtual data space named GVDS in the project of“High Performance Computing Virtual Data Space”,a part of the National Key Research and Development Program of *** GVDS enables large-scale applications of the high-performance computing to run efficiently across ***,the applications running on the GVDS are often data-intensive,requiring large amounts of data from multiple supercomputing centers across *** this regard,the GVDS suffers from performance bottlenecks in data migration and access across *** solve the above-mentioned problem,this paper proposes a performance optimization framework of GVDS including the multitask-oriented data migration method and the request access-aware IO proxy resource allocation *** a WAN environment,the framework proposed in this paper can make an efficient migration decision based on the amount of migrated data and the number of multiple data sources,guaranteeing lower average migration latency when multiple data migration tasks are running in *** addition,it can ensure that the thread resource of the IO proxy node is fairly allocated among different types of requests(the IO proxy is a module of GVDS),so as to improve the application’s performance across *** experimental results show that the framework can effectively reduce the average data access delay of GVDS while improving the performance of the application greatly.

Over-Constraints and a Unified Mobility Method for General Spatial Mechanisms Part 2:Application of the Principle

The pre-research on mobility analysis presented a unified-mobility formula and a methodology based on reciprocal screw theory by HUANG, which focused on classical and modem parallel mechanisms. However its range of application needs to further extend to general multi-loop spatial mechanism. This kind of mechanism is not only more complex in structure but also with strong motion coupling among loops, making the mobility analysis even more complicated, and the relevant research has long been ignored. It is focused on how to apply the new principle for general spatial mechanism to those various multi-loop spatial mechanisms, and some new meaningful knowledge is further found. Several typical examples of the genera/multi-loop spatial mechanisms with motion couple even strong motion couple are considered. These spatial mechanisms include different closing way： over-constraint appearing in rigid closure, in movable closure, and in dynamic closure as well; these examples also include two different new methods to solve this kind of issue： the way to recognize over-constraints by analyzing relative movement between two connected links and by constructing a virtual loop to recognize over-constraints. In addition, over-constraint determination tabulation is brought to analyze the motion couple. The researches above are all based upon the screw theory. All these multi-loop spatial mechanisms with different kinds of structures can completely be solved by following the directions and examples, and the new mobility theory based on the screw theory is also proved to be valid. This study not only enriches and develops the theory and makes the theory more universal, but also has a special meaning for innovation in mechanical engineering.

Recent advances and perspectives of zinc metal-free anodes for zinc ion batteries

Zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs) are recognized as potential energy storage devices due to their advantages of low cost, high energy density, and environmental friendliness. However, zinc anodes are subject to unavoidable zinc dendrites, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution reactions during the charging and discharging of batteries, becoming obstacles to the practical application of ZIBs. Appropriate zinc metal-free anodes provide a higher working potential than metallic zinc anodes, effectively solving the problems of zinc dendrites, hydrogen evolution, and side reactions during the operation of metallic zinc anodes. The improvement in the safety and cycle life of batteries creates conditions for further commercialization of ZIBs. Therefore, this work systematically introduces the research progress of zinc metal-free anodes in “rocking chair” ZIBs. Zinc metal-free anodes are mainly discussed in four categories: transition metal oxides,transition metal sulfides, MXene(two dimensional transition metal carbide) composites, and organic compounds, with discussions on their properties and zinc storage mechanisms. Finally, the outlook for the development of zinc metal-free anodes is proposed. This paper is expected to provide a reference for the further promotion of commercial rechargeable ZIBs.

Over-constraint and a Unified Mobility Method for General Spatial Mechanisms Part 1: Essential Principle

Compared with the parallel mechanisms, the mobility analysis of the general multi-loop spatial mechanisms（GMSMs） is more difficult to obtain correct results. The reason is that its multi-loop is formed through several times of closings and there also exists motion coupling even strong coupling, where the over-constraints are concealed. However, the mobility analysis for this kind of mechanisms has been paid few attentions. A new systemic methodology for analyzing mobility is proposed for GMSMs also based on the screw theory. The key issue for mobility analysis is to recognize the over-constraint. Firstly, three theorems are given and point out： the reason and site of over-constraint occurrence, calculating the number of over-constraints by the screw theory, and how to analyze the over-constraints for a single-loop mechanism as well. Then, three closing forms for GMSMs are proposed including rigid closure, movable closure and dynamic closure, and for the three different forms the different analysis methods are also given. Especially, for the most difficult issue of GMSMs with the multi-loop Closure in many times and the inevitable motion coupling, two important methods are proposed：＂recognizing over-constraints by analyzing relative movement＂ and ＂recognizing over-constraints by virtual loop＂. The two methods are well used to solve the issue. Above-mentioned principles are not only systematic and effective but also unified. They provide a theoretical basis for the general multi-loop spatial mechanisms.

Image texture smoothing method by a novel L0-norm optimization model

Texture smoothing is a fundamental tool in various applications. In this work, a new image texture smoothing method is proposed by defining a novel objective function, which is optimized by L0-norm minimization and a modified relative total variation measure. In addition, the gradient constraint is adopted in objective function to eliminate the staircase effect, which can preserve the structure edges of small gradients. The experimental results show that compared with the state-of-the-art methods, especially the L0 gradient minimization method and the relative total variation method, the proposed method achieves better results in image texture smoothing and significant structure preserving.

Methods for Force Analysis of Overconstrained Parallel Mechanisms： A Review

The force analysis of overconstrained PMs is relatively complex and difficult, for which the methods have always been a research hotspot. However, few liter- atures analyze the characteristics and application scopes of the various methods, which is not convenient for researchers and engineers to master and adopt them prop- erly. A review of the methods for force analysis of both passive and active overconstrained PMs is presented. The existing force analysis methods for these two kinds of overconstrained PMs are classified according to their main ideas. Each category is briefly demonstrated and evaluated from such aspects as the calculation amount, the compre- hensiveness of considering limbs＇ deformation, and the existence of explicit expressions of the solutions, which provides an important reference for researchers and engi- neers to quickly find a suitable method. The similarities and differences between the statically indeterminate prob- lem of passive overconstrained PMs and that of active overconstrained PMs are discussed, and a universal method for these two kinds of overconstrained PMs is pointed out. The existing deficiencies and development directions of the force analysis methods for overconstrained systems are indicated based on the overview.

End-to-end rate-based congestion control with random loss:convergence and stability

The convergence and stability analysis for two end-to-end rate-based congestion control algorithms with unavoidable random loss in packets are presented, which can be caused by, for example, errors on wireless links. The convergence rates of these two algorithms are analyzed by linearizing them around their equilibrium points, since they are globally stable and can converge to their unique equilibrium points. Some sufficient conditions for local stability in the presence of round-trip delay are obtained based on the general Nyquist criterion of stability. The stability conditions can be considered to be more general. If random loss in the first congestion control algorithm is not considered, they reduce to the local stability conditions which have been obtained in some literatures. Furthermore, sufficient conditions for local stability of a new congestion control algorithm have also been obtained if random loss is not considered in the second congestion control algorithm.

Effects of cow manure ratios on methane production and microbial community evolution in anaerobic co-digestion with different crop wastes

The present study investigated the effects of cow manure ratios mixed with maize stover,rice straw,and wheat stalk at 3,2,1(total solid based,TS-based),respectively,on methane production and microbial community structure during the anaerobic co-digestion *** showed cow manure co-digested with maize stover,wheat stalk,and rice straw at ratios of 2,1,and 3 had the highest cumulative methane yields(272.99,153.22167.73 mL/g volatile solid(VS),respectively)and better stability(***,volatile fatty acids(VFAs)and their component).The main microbe evolution had a similar trend which was Petrimonas and Methanosaeta in the early digestion process(Days 0-7)and then evolved into Longilinea,Ruminofilibacter,and Methanosarcina with the progress of digestion,but the relative abundance of these microbes in each reactor was *** was worth noting that Caldicoprobacter in cow manure to maize stover ratio of 2,and to rice straw ratio of three reactors had a relatively higher proportion than reactor of cow manure to wheat stalk ratio of 1,and Hydrogenophaga was the specific bacterium in cow manure to wheat stalk ratio of 1 *** addition,Petrimonas showed positive relationship with VFAs and Longilinea was the *** and Methanobacterium contributed the most during the peak period of methane production in cow manure and maize stover co-digested reactor,and showed positive relationship with acetic ***,Methanosarcina and Methanospirillum made a great contribution during the peak period of methane production in cow manure co-digested with wheat stalk and rice straw *** findings could provide further information on the application of cow manure co-digested with crop wastes.
