Vitamin D status among infants, children, and adolescents in southeastern China

Objective： Vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency are global public health problems, which must first be identified before they can be appropriately addressed, and yet information is strikingly lacking in most parts of the Asia and Pacific region. The study aimed to document and account for the actual situation in wenzhou on the southeastern coast of China. Subjects and methods： Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels among a total of 5845 infants, preschool children, school children, and adolescents aged 1-18 years were examined between March 2014 and February 2015. Results： Their mean levels were （110.2＋26.8）, （77.5＋25.7）, （55.6＋15.4）, and （47.2＋13.9） nmol/L, respectively. Older age groups were involved in increasing risk of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency. There were significant seasonal differences in its median level and prevalence of deficiency and insufficiency among school children and adolescents, but there was no significant sex difference in mean level and prevalence in any age group. Conclusions： Vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency were prevalent among infants, preschool children, school children, and adolescents in wenzhou. A vitamin D-rich diet and outdoor activities for 1-2 h per day under the natural conditions favorable to its endogeous synthesis do not suffice. The vitamin D status in wenzhounese infants excelling over that in the US was the result of its supplementation thanks to the Chinese Medical Association recommendations, which should be conse- quently extended to more age groups. Life style shaped by socio-economic environments affects vitamin D status. Knowledge on the importance of vitamin D for healthy growth should be popularized.

Objectives:This study presents a method combining a one-class classifier and laser-induced breakdown spectrometry(LIBS)to quickly identify healthy Tegillarca granosa(***).Materials and Methods:The sum of ranking differences(SRD)was used to fuse multiple anomaly detection metrics to build the one-class classifier,which was only trained with healthy *** one-class classifier can identify healthy *** to exclude non-healthy *** proposed method calculated multiple anomaly detection metrics and standardized them to obtain a fusion *** on the fusion matrix,the samples were ranked by SRD and those ranked lowest and below the threshold were considered to be ***:Multiple anomaly detection metrics were fused by the SRD algorithm and tested on each band,and the final fusion model achieved an accuracy rate of 98.46%,a sensitivity of 100%,and a specificity of 80%.The remaining three single classification models obtained the following results:the SVDD model achieved an accuracy rate of 87.69%,a sensitivity of 90%,and a specificity of 60%;the OCSVM model achieved an accuracy rate of 80%,a sensitivity of 76.67%,and a specificity of 60%;and the DD-SIMCA model achieved an accuracy rate of 95.38%,a sensitivity of 98.33%,and a specificity of 60%.Conclusions:The experimental results showed that the proposed method achieved better results than the traditional one-class classification methods with a single ***,the fusion method effectively improves the performance of traditional one-class classifiers when using LIBS to quickly identify healthy substances(healthy ***).

A pH-responsive polymer Eudragit S-100 has been found to assist in correct folding of FGF-2 （fibroblast growth factor-2） denatured with 8 mol/L urea and 10 mmol/L dithiothreitol at pH 7.2. The refolding of FGF-2 was performed by directly diluting denatured FGF-2 into a refolding buffer containing Eudragit S-100. The ability of Eudragit S-100 to enhance protein refolding level was investigated using MTT method, fluorescence emission spectroscopy and reverse phase HPLC. On the other hand, the result shows the ability of Eudragit S-100 to enhance the refolding level of protein is due to the interaction between Eudragit S-100 and oositivelv charaed FGF-2.

BACKGROUND We have previously proved that treatment of thick/deep infantile hemangiomas (IHs) with a long-pulse Alexandrite laser was clinically effective and safe. This article aims to investigate the efficiency of long-pulse Alexandrite laser use in treating thick and high-risk IHs located in particular anatomic areas and provides some new data on this issue. CASE SUMMARY A two-month-old girl with a thick and high-risk IH covering most of the right labia majora was examined in this study. The infant received four treatment sessions at 4- to 6-wk intervals with a long-pulse Alexandrite laser with settings as follows: 3 ms pulse duration, 8 mm spot size, 45 to 50 J/cm2 fluences, and dynamic cooling device (DCD) spray duration of 90 ms with a delay of 80 ms. Following each of the four treatment sessions, the IH showed a remarkable reduction in thickness and size without any sign of relapse. Ten months after the last treatment, the IH had completely regressed without adverse effects. During the laser treatment, no severe side effects were observed;blistering occurred only immediately after treatment and then scabbed over the next day, gradually improving in the following days. CONCLUSION Long-pulse Alexandrite laser treatment may be considered one of the first-line noninvasive therapeutic options for the treatment of thick IH.

Zinc(Zn)and its biocompatible and biodegradable alloys have substantial potential for use in orthopedic ***,pure Zn with a hexagonal close-packed crystal structure has only two independent slip systems,therefore exhibiting extremely low elongation and yield strength in its ascast condition,which restricts its clinical *** this study,as-cast Zn–xTi(titanium)(x=0.05,0.10,0.20,and 0.30 wt.%)binary alloys were hot-rolled and their microstructures,mechanical properties,wear resistance,and cytocompatibility were comprehensively investigated for orthopedic implant *** microstructures of both as-cast and hot-rolled Zn–xTi alloys consisted of anα-Zn matrix phase and a TiZn16 phase,while Zn–0.2 Ti and Zn–0.3 Ti exhibited a finerα-Zn phase due to the grainrefining effect of *** hot-rolled Zn–0.2 Ti alloy exhibited the highest yield strength(144.5 MPa),ultimate strength(218.7 MPa),and elongation(54.2%)among all the Zn–x Ti *** corrosion resistance of Zn–xTi alloys in Hanks’solution decreased with increasing addition of Ti,and the hot-rolled Zn–0.3 Ti alloy exhibited the highest corrosion rates of 432μm/y as measured by electrochemical testing and 57.9μm/y as measured by immersion *** as-cast Zn–xTi alloys showed lower wear losses than their hot-rolled *** extracts of hot-rolled Zn–x Ti alloys at concentrations of≤25%showed no cytotoxicity to MG-63 osteosarcoma cells and the extracts of Zn–xTi alloys exhibited enhanced cytocompatibility with increasing Ti content.
