A review of the development of asphalt foaming technology

To comprehensively assess the current state-of-art in asphalt foaming technology, the following four key aspectshave been reviewed systematically: foaming principles, test methods, evaluation indicators, and influencing *** findings reveal that asphalt foaming was primarily driven by the vaporization of water, with deteriorationprocesses including bubble collapse and liquid film drainage. However, the current understanding of asphaltfoaming principles remains limited, primarily due to difficulties in capturing and precisely measuring its microscopic behaviors during asphalt foaming process. Volume changes provided an intuitive means to evaluate theexpansion capacity of asphalt and its foaming stability. Bubble evolution characteristics of foamed asphalt offeredpromising insights into its foaming performance. Traditional ruler and stopwatch-based assessments were beingsuperseded by automated techniques like laser and ultrasonic ranging. Nevertheless, the current measuringequipment still lacks the capability to comprehensively evaluate the foaming effect of asphalt across various dimensions. Asphalt temperature and foaming water consumption significantly affected asphalt foaming performance, and the inclusion of foaming agents typically led to a notable increase in the half life of foamed ***, the interaction between foaming agents and asphalt, as well as the underlying mechanisms affecting thefoaming effect, are still unclear and require further exploration. Future research should primarily focus on thecorrelation between asphalt foaming effect and mixture performance, aiming to guide the practical engineeringapplication of foamed asphalt mixtures and enlarge the advantages of such low-emission and sustainable mixtures.

Solidification crack characteristics and sensitivity of peritectic steel

The characteristics and sensitivity of solidification cracks in peritectic steels were investigated using directional solidifi-cation *** cracks were observed in both hypoperitectic steels(12CrlMoV,15CrMo)and hyper-peritectic steel(20CrMo)during solidification at growth velocities of 15,50,and 80 pm/*** the dendritic boundaries,sulphide precipitates were found,promoting crack *** on the statistical analysis of interdendritic cracks in peritectic steels,the area ratio(RA)of interdendritic cracks in a directional solidification structure was proposed to evaluate the crack sensitivity of peritectic ***,the crack sensitivities of peritectic steels(12CrlMoV,15CrMo,and 20CrMo)were tested,evaluated,and compared with the surface crack rates of three types of steels produced from a steel *** results demonstrated that RA was in good agreement with that of the steel plant,and the crack sensitivity of 12CrlMoV steel was the strongest,followed by that of 15CrMo and 20CrMo ***,RA can be used to evaluate the crack sensitivity of peritectic steel.

Kinetic model of vibration screening for granular materials based on biological neural network

The kinetic model is the theoretical basis for optimizing the structure and operation performance of vibration screening *** this paper,a biological neurodynamic equation and neural connections were established according to the motion and interaction properties of the material under vibration *** material feeding to the screen and the material passing through apertures were considered as excitatory and inhibitory inputs,respectively,and the generated stable neural activity landscape was used to describe the material distribution on the 2D screen *** dynamic process of material vibration screening was simulated using discrete element method(DEM).By comparing the similarity between the material distribution established using biological neural network(BNN)and that obtained using DEM simulation,the optimum coefficients of BNN model under a certain screening parameter were determined,that is,one relationship between the BNN model coefficients and the screening operation parameters was *** screening parameters were randomly selected,and the corresponding relationships were established as a ***,with straw/grain ratio,aperture diameter,inclination angle,vibration strength in normal and tangential directions as inputs,five independent adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems(ANFIS)were established to predict the optimum BNN model coefficients,*** training results indicated that ANFIS models had good stability and *** flexibility and adaptability of the proposed BNN method was demonstrated by modeling material distribution under complex feeding conditions such as multiple regions and non-uniform rate.

Urchin-like Na-doped zinc oxide nanoneedles for low-concentration and exclusive VOC detections

In the early-stage diagnosis of lung cancer,the low-concentration(<5 ppm)volatile organic compounds(VOCs)are extensively identified to be the biomarkers for breath ***,the urchin-like sodium(Na)-doped zinc oxide(ZnO)nanoneedles were synthesized through a hydrothermal strategy with the addition of different contents of citric *** Na-doped ZnO gas sensor with a 3:1 molar ratio of Na^(+)and citric acid showed outstanding sensing properties with an optimal selectivity to various VOCs(formaldehyde(HCOH),isopropanol,acetone,and ammonia)based on working temperature ***,significantly enhanced sensitivity(21.3@5 ppm)compared with pristine ZnO(~7-fold),low limit of detection(LOD)(298 ppb),robust humidity resistance,and long-term stability of formaldehyde sensing performances were obtained,which can be attributed to the formation of a higher concentration of oxygen vacancies(20.98%)and the active electron ***,the improved sensing mechanism was demonstrated by the exquisite band structure and introduction of the additional acceptor level,which resulted in the narrowed bandgap of ZnO.

An aqueous rechargeable Fe//LiMn_(2)O_()hybrid battery with superior electrochemical performance beyond mainstream Fe-based batteries

Aqueous rechargeable batteries(ARBs)are generally safer than non-aqueous analogues,they are also less-expensive,and more friendly to the ***,the inherent disadvantage of the narrow electrochemical window of H2O seriously restricts the energy density and output voltage of ARBs,especially aqueous rechargeable Fe-based ***,we introduce a new battery system:the anode contains C@Fe/Fe_(2)O_(3)composite,which is interfaced with an alkaline electrolyte;the cathode contains LiMn_(2)O_()in contact with a neutral electrolyte.A Li^(+)-conducting membrane is carefully selected to decouple the electrode-electrolyte,which effectively widens the electrochemical window to above 2.65 V,thereby enables an aqueous rechargeable iron *** average output voltage is 1.83 V and its energy density is 235.3 Wh/kg at 549 W/*** this work,we propose the energy storage mechanism with the aid of density functional theory(DFT).The calculated reduction potential of the anode agrees with the experimental ***,this battery system demonstrates long cycle lifespan of approximately 2500 cycles at 2 A/g,corresponding to a capacity retention of 82.1%.These results are very far superior than those of mainstream aqueous rechargeable Fe-based batteries,which guarantee future investigation for storing electricity energy.

Short-term prediction of on-street parking occupancy using multivariate variable based on deep learning

Short-term prediction of on-street parking occupancy is essential to the ITS system,which can guide drivers in finding vacant parking *** the spatial dependencies and exogenous dependencies need to be considered simultaneously,which makes short-term prediction of on-street parking occupancy ***,this paper proposes a deep learning model for predicting block-level parking ***,the importance of multiple points of interest(POI)in different buffers is sorted by Boruta,used for feature *** results show that different types of POI data should consider different buffer *** based on the real on-street parking data,long short-term memory(LSTM)that can address the time dependencies is applied to predict the parking *** results demonstrate that LSTM considering POI data after Boruta selection(LSTM(+BORUTA))outperforms other baseline methods,including LSTM,with an average testing MAPE of 11.78%.The selection process of POI data helps LSTM reduce training time and slightly improve the prediction performance,which indicates that complex correlations among the same type of POI data in different buffer zones will also affect the prediction accuracy of *** there are more restaurants on both sides of the street,the prediction performance of LSTM(+BORUTA)is significantly better than that of LSTM.

Well-designed g-C_(3)N_(4)nanosheet incorporated Ag loaded Er_(0.05)La_(0.95)FeO_(3)heterojunctions for isoamyl alcohol detection

Because the volatile content of isoamyl alcohol increases sharply on the seventh day of wheat mildew infection,isoamyl alcohol can be used as an early biomarker of wheat mildew ***,only a few sensors for isoamyl alcohol detection have been reported,and these sensors still suffer from low sensitivity and poor moisture ***,the isoamyl alcohol sensitivity of 5 at%Er@LaFeO_(3)(ELFO)was enhanced by loading Ag nanoparticles on the surface of the ELFO microspheres,while the optimal operating temperature was *** moisture resistance of Ag/ELFO was improved by the incorporation of g-C_(3)N_(4)nanosheets(NSs)on the surface of Ag/ELFO through electrostatic *** the requirements for practical applications in grain granaries,the sensing behavior of a Ag/ELFO-based sensor incorporating g-C_(3)N_(4)NSs at 20%relative humidity(RH)was systematically studied,and the sensor demonstrated excellent repeatability,long-term stability,and superior selectivity(791 at 50 ppm)for isoamyl alcohol with a low limit of detection(LOD=75 ppb).Furthermore,the practical results obtained for wheat at different mildew stages further confirmed the potential of the g-C_(3)N_(4)/Ag/ELFO-based sensor for monitoring the early mildew stage of *** work may offer guidance for enhancing the moisture resistance of gas-sensitive materials through the strategy of employing composite nanomaterials.

A flexible multiscale algorithm based on an improved smoothed particle hydrodynamics method for complex viscoelastic flows

Viscoelastic flows play an important role in numerous engineering fields,and the multiscale algorithms for simulating viscoelastic flows have received significant attention in order to deepen our understanding of the nonlinear dynamic behaviors of viscoelastic ***,traditional grid-based multiscale methods are confined to simple viscoelastic flows with short relaxation time,and there is a lack of uniform multiscale scheme available for coupling different solvers in the simulations of viscoelastic *** this paper,a universal multiscale method coupling an improved smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH)and multiscale universal interface(MUI)library is presented for viscoelastic *** proposed multiscale method builds on an improved SPH method and leverages the MUI library to facilitate the exchange of information among different solvers in the overlapping *** test the capability and flexibility of the presented multiscale method to deal with complex viscoelastic flows by solving different multiscale problems of viscoelastic *** the first example,the simulation of a viscoelastic Poiseuille flow is carried out by two coupled improved SPH methods with different spatial *** effects of exchanging different physical quantities on the numerical results in both the upper and lower domains are also investigated as well as the absolute errors in the overlapping *** the second example,the complex Wannier flow with different Weissenberg numbers is further simulated by two improved SPH methods and coupling the improved SPH method and the dissipative particle dynamics(DPD)*** numerical results show that the physical quantities for viscoelastic flows obtained by the presented multiscale method are in consistence with those obtained by a single solver in the overlapping ***,transferring different physical quantities has an important effect on the numerical results.

FCF-LDH/BiVO_(4)with synergistic effect of physical enrichment and chemical adsorption for efficient reduction of nitrate

Photoelectrochemical NO_(3)^(-)reduction(PEC NITRR)not only provides a promising solution for promoting the global nitrogen cycle,but also converts NO_(3)^(-)to the important chemicals(NH_(3)).However,it is still a great challenge to prepare catalysts with excellent NO_(3)^(-)adsorption/activation capacity to achieve high ***,we designed a novel Fe^(2+)~Cu^(2+)Fe^(3+)LDH/BiVO_(4)(FCF-LDH/BVO)catalyst with synergistic effect of chemical adsorption and physical ***^(2+)in FCF-LDH/BVO provides the rich Lewis acid sites for the adsorption of NO_(3)^(-),and the appropriate layer spacing of FCF-LDH further promotes the physical enrichment of NO_(3)^(-)in its interior,thus realizing the effective contact between NO_(3)^(-)and active sites(Fe^(2+)).FCF-LDH/BVO showed excellent NH_(3)production performance(FE_(NH_(3))=66.1%,r_(NH_(3))=13.8μg h^(-1)cm^(-2))and selectivity(FE_(NO_(2)^(-))=2.5%,r_(NO_(2)^(-))=4.9μg h^(-1)cm^(-2))in 0.5 mol L^(-1)Na_(2)SO_(4)*** addition,FCF-LDH/BVO maintains the desirable PEC stability for six cycle experiments,showing great potential for practical ***^(14)NO_(3)^(-)and^(15)NO_(3)^(-)isotope test provides strong evidence for further verification of the origin of N in the generated NH_(3).This LDH catalyst has a great potential in PEC removal of NO_(3)^(-)from groundwater.
