Contextual Relevance of Sustainable Supply Chain:Recycling,Philanthropy,or Both?

Many firms have already been actively or passively involved in sustainable supply chain management with the objective of improving the triple bottom line(TBL).But whether the limited funds should be allocated to both community responsibility activities(e.g.,corporate philanthropy)and environmental protection activities(e.g.,recycling)is a confusing *** paper provides deep insights into the combination strategy of two corporate social responsibility(CSR)types in a two-tier sustainable supply chain by modeling *** decision models in eight scenarios with different combinations of CSR types are proposed and applied for the determination of equilibrium *** paper’s findings highlight:under certain conditions,(1)the supply chain with two types of CSR is the equilibrium scenario and improves the TBL;(2)counter-intuitively,balancing short-and long-term benefits,firms are more willing to cooperate with partners with relatively low consumers sensitivity of CSR activities;(3)it is wise for the manufacturer to allocate more funding to environmental responsibility than to community *** addition,considering both short-and long-term benefits,comparing with the manufacturer,the retailer has a stronger incentive to improve recycling efficiency.

Three high-nitrogen stainless steels with different N contents were successfully processed by equal-channel angular pressing for one pass, and their microstructures and mechanical properties were investigated. It was found that the microstructure of the billet was heterogeneous across the billet thickness, resulting in the difference in the mechanical properties due to the different deformation conditions. A relatively low strength, high uniform elongation, and high work- hardening rate for the samples at the bottom of the billet was achieved in comparison with those processed at the top. Meanwhile, it was observed that the density of deformation twins increased with the content of N; accordingly, the strength and elongation of the alloys increase with the content of N, resulting in a good strength-ductility combination.

The superhydrophobicity of plant leaves is a benefit of the hierarchical structures of their surfaces. These structures have been imitated in the creation of synthetic surfaces. In this paper, a novel process for fabrication of biomimetic hierarchical structures by electrochemical deposition of a metal on porous alumina is described. An aluminum specimen was anodically oxidized to obtain a porous alumina template, which was used as an electrode to fabricate a surface with micro structures through electrochemical deposition of a metal such as nickel and copper after the enlargement of pores. Astonishingly, a hier- archical structure with nanometer pillars and micrometer clusters was synthesized in the pores of the template. The nanometer pillars were determined by the nanometer pores. The lbrmation of micrometer clusters was related to the thin walls of the pores and the crystallization of the metal on a flat surface. From the as-prepared biomimetic surfaces, lotus-leaf-like superhydrophobic surfaces with nickel and copper deposition were achieved.

Social trust network(STN)and minimum cost consensus(MCC)models have been widely used to address consensus issues in multi-attribute group decision-making(MAGDM)problems with limited ***,most researchers have overlooked the decision maker‘(DMs)’confidence levels(CLs)and adjustment willingness implicit in their *** address these problems,this paper explores a confidence-based MCC model that considers DMs’adjustment willingness in the *** proposed model includes several modifications to the traditional trust propagation and consensus optimization ***,the improved method for measuring CLs of DMs and the confidence-based normalization approach are defined,***,the bounded trust propagation operator is proposed,which considers the credibility of mediators to complete the ***,the identification rules based on the consensus index and CL are defined,and the MCC model with personalized cost functions and acceptable adjustment thresholds is built to automatically generate adjustment values for non-consensus ***,a model to identify the non-cooperative behavior at the element level is established and the hybrid MCC model with persuasion strategies is ***,a case study is processed to verify the applicability of the proposed model,and comparison and sensitivity analysis are conducted to highlight its benefits.

Reconstructions of past seafloor age make it possible to quantify how plate tectonic forces,surface heat flow,ocean basin volume and global sea level have varied through geological ***,past ocean basins that have now been subducted cannot be uniquely reconstructed,and a significant challenge is how to explore a wide range of possible ***,we investigate possible distributions of seafloor ages from the late Paleozoic to present using published full-plate reconstructions and a new,efficient seafloor age reconstruction workflow,all developed using the open-source software *** test alternative reconstruction models and examine the influence of assumed spreading rates within the Panthalassa Ocean on the reconstructed history of mean seafloor age,oceanic heat flow,and the contribution of ocean basin volume to global sea *** reconstructions suggest variations in mean seafloor age of~15 Myr during the late Paleozoic,similar to the amplitude of variations previously proposed for the Cretaceous to *** reconstructed oceanic age-area distributions are broadly compatible with a scenario in which the long-period fluctuations in global sea level since the late Paleozoic are largely driven by changes in mean seafloor *** suggestions of a constant rate of seafloor production through time can be modelled using our workflow,but require that oceanic plates in the Paleozoic move slower than continents based on current reconstructions of continental motion,which is difficult to reconcile with geodynamic studies.

This study presents an AI-based constitutive modelling framework wherein the prediction model directly learns from triaxial testing data by combining discrete element modelling(DEM)and deep learning.A constitutive learning strategy is proposed based on the generally accepted frame-indifference assumption in constructing material constitutive *** low-dimensional principal stress-strain sequence pairs,measured from discrete element modelling of triaxial testing,are used to train recurrent neural networks,and then the predicted principal stress sequence is augmented to other high-dimensional or general stress tensor via coordinate *** detailed hyperparameter investigations,it is found that long short-term memory(LSTM)and gated recurrent unit(GRU)networks have similar prediction performance in constitutive modelling problems,and both satisfactorily predict the stress responses of granular materials subjected to a given unseen strain ***,the unique merits and ongoing challenges of data-driven constitutive models for granular materials are discussed.

Polarization underwater imaging is of great potential to target detection in turbid water. Typical methods are challenged by the requirement on degrees of polarization(Do Ps) of both target light and backscattering. A polarization descattering imaging method was developed using the Mueller matrix, which in turn derived a depolarization(Dep) index from the Mueller matrix to characterize scattering media by estimating the transmittance map by combining a developed optimal *** quantifying light attenuation with the transmittance map, a clear vision of targets can be recovered. Only using the information of scattering media, the underwater vision under diverse water turbidity was enhanced by the results of experimental data.
