Preparation of Gallic Acid-chitosan Copolymer and Its Antibacterial Activity against Staphylococcus Aureus and Escherichia Coli

To synthesize three different grafting ratios of gallic acid(GA)-chitosan(CS)copolymer by a free radical mediated grafting method,which is further applied to the field of antibacterial materials,crosslinking structures of the compound GA-CS copolymer were characterized,fully indicating that gallic acid is resoundingly grafted onto *** grafting ratios of three copolymers GA-CS are 45.71%(Ⅰ),36.12%(Ⅱ),and 18.96%(Ⅲ)were determined by UV-Vis *** minimum inhibitory concentrations of three GA-CS copolymers are 30μg/mL against Escherichia coli and are ranged from 250 to 550μg/mL against Staphylococcus *** counting viable bacterial colonies,it can be found that antibacterial property is preferable by increasing the grafting ratio of GA-CS *** of investigation on aforementioned bacteria experiment indicate that the CFU/mL values of GA-CS(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ)are 2.04×10^(6),7.56×10^(6),1.48×10^(7) to Staphylococcus aureus,and 2.96×10^(6),1.01×10^(7),2.14×10^(7) to Escherichia coli after 12 h *** addition,the interaction process between GA-CS copolymer and bacteria can be observed through a transmission electron *** specific manifestation is that the bacterial cell membranes are ruptured after being treated with the copolymer,which causes the cell contents to flow out,and the cell morphology is shrunk and out ofshape.

The novel coronavirus pneumonia broke out in 2019 and spread rapidly. In 30 different countries, there are over seventy thousand patients have been diagnosed in total. Therefore, it is urgent to develop the effective program to prevent and treat for the novel coronavirus pneumonia. In view of Traditional Chinese Medicine has accumulated a solid theoretical foundation of plague in ancient and recent decades. Meanwhile, Traditional Chinese Medicine can provide the more effective and personalized treatment via adjusting the specific medicine for each patient based on the different syndromes. In addition, TCM often has different effect on the distinct stages of diseases, contributing to the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. Nowadays, TCM has exhibited decent effect in the in the fight against NCP. Therefore, it is convinced that Traditional Chinese Medicine is an effective treatment for 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia.

Neuroma formation after peripheral nerve transection often leads to severe neuropathic *** peripheral nerve interface has been shown to reduce painful neuroma in the ***,no reports have investigated the underlying mechanisms,and no comparative animal studies on regenerative peripheral nerve interface and other means of neuroma prevention have been conducted to *** this study,we established a rat model of left sciatic nerve transfection,and subsequently interfered with the model using the regenerative peripheral nerve interface or proximal nerve stump implantation inside a fully innervated *** showed that,compared with rats subjected to nerve stump implantation inside the muscle,rats subjected to regenerative peripheral nerve interface intervention showed greater inhibition of the proliferation of collagenous fibers and irregular regenerated axons,lower expressions of the fibrosis markerα-smooth muscle actin and the inflammatory marker sigma-1 receptor in the proximal nerve stump,lower autophagy behaviors,lower expressions of c-fos and substance P,higher expression of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor in the ipsilateral dorsal root *** findings suggested that regenerative peripheral nerve interface inhibits peripheral nerve injury-induced neuroma formation and neuropathic pain possibly via the upregulation of the expression of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor in the dorsal root ganglia and reducing neuroinflammation in the nerve stump.

Prognostic Factors of Liver Transplantation for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Database Analysis

Objective We aimed to identify new,more accurate risk factors of liver transplantation for liver cancer through using the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)*** Using the SEER database,we identified patients that had undergone surgical resection for non-metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and subsequent liver transplantation between 2010 and *** survival(OS)was estimated using Kaplan-Meier *** proportional hazards regression modelling was used to identify factors independently associated with recurrent disease[presented as adjusted hazard ratios(HR)with 95%CIs].Results Totally,1530 eligible patients were included in the *** were significant differences in ethnicity(P=0.04),cancer stage(P<0.001),vascular invasion(P<0.001)and gall bladder involvement(P<0.001)between the groups that survived,died due to cancer,or died due to other *** the Cox regression model,there were no significant differences in OS at 5 years with different operative strategies(autotransplantation versus allotransplantation),nor at survival at 1 year with neoadjuvant ***,neoadjuvant radiotherapy did appear to improve survival at both 3 years(HR:0.540,95%CI:0.326–0.896,P=0.017)and 5 years(HR:0.338,95%CI:0.153–0.747,P=0.007)from *** This study demonstrated differences in patient characteristics between prognostic groups after liver resection and transplantation for *** criteria can be used to inform patient selection and consent in this *** radiotherapy may improve long-term survival post-transplantation.

Hydroxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes(h-MWCNTs) and carboxylated MWCNTs(c-MWCNTs)have potential applications in biomedicine, but their toxicity to human endothelial cells under stressed conditions associated with chronic diseases was less studied in vitro. This study stressed human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) with ER stress inducer thapsigargin(TG), and investigated the toxicity of h-MWCNTs and c-MWCNTs to normal and stressed HUVECs. h-MWCNTs and c-MWCNTs modestly reduced cellular viability, significantly promoted soluble ICAM-1(sICAM-1),soluble VCAM-1(sVCAM-1) as well as intracellular ROS, and decreased the expression of transcription factor KLF2 and KLF4. Pre-treatment with TG significantly reduced cellular viability, promoted IL-6 and THP-1 monocyte adhesion, and increased the expression of a panel of ER stress genes. ANOVA indicated no interaction between MWCNTs and TG pre-treatment on most of the endpoints. It was concluded that the toxicity of h-MWCNTs and c-MWCNTs to HUVECs might not be exacerbated by ER stress

Relationship between Coronary Artery Tortuosity and Cardiorespiratory Fitness in Patients without Obstructed Coronaries

Objective This study aimed to analyze the relationship between cardiorespiratory fitness(CRF)and the increasing severity of coronary artery tortuosity(CAT)in patients with non-stenosed *** A total of 396 patients who underwent coronary angiography and cardiopulmonary exercise testing(CPET)between August 2020 and July 2021 were included in this single-center retrospective study after excluding patients with significant coronary artery disease(≥50%stenosis).Patients were divided into two groups:no or mild coronary artery tortuosity(N/M-CAT)and moderate to severe coronary artery tortuosity(M/S-CAT)and laboratory electrocardiographic,echocardiographic,and CPET parameters were compared between two *** M/S-CAT was found in 46.9%of the study participants,with 66.7%being women.M/S-CAT was significantly associated with advanced age(P=0.014)and females(P=0.001).Diastolic dysfunction parameters,E velocity(P=0.011),and E/A ratio(P=0.004)also revealed significant differences between the M/S-CAT group and N/M-CAT ***2@peak(1.22±0.39 vs.1.07±0.39,P<0.01)and VO2@AT(0.77±0.22 vs.0.71±0.21,P=0.017)were significantly lower in the M/S-CAT group than in the N/M-CAT *** logistic regression analysis identified females(OR=0.448;95%CI,0.296–0.676;P=0.000)and E/A ratio(OR=0.307;95%CI,0.139–0.680;P=0.004)to be independent risk factors of M/S-CAT and showed no association of CPET parameters to M/*** The results indicate that increasing severity of CAT is strongly associated with female gender and E/A ratio and is not directly correlated with decreasing *** research with a larger patient population and a longer follow-up time is required to fully comprehend the impact of CAT on CRF.
