Auditory evoked potentials recorded in monkeys with hallucinatory-like behaviors induced by bromocriptine

Objective Bromocriptine and other dopamine D2 receptor agonists can affect a range of behaviors in nonhuman primates, particularly those behaviors associated with motor and mental function, such as suppressant behaviors and hallucinatory-like behaviors in monkeys. Besides bromocriptine, the dysfunction of the rapid eye movement sleep （REM） mechanism may also contribute to hallucinations. Dissociation of wakefulness, REM, and non-REM （NREM） can cause a series of psychotic symptoms. Methods In present study, we simultaneously recorded auditory evoked potentials （AEP） from five cerebral regions in monkeys during normal and psychotomimetic states to investigate and compare state-dependent changes in AEE Results Phase reversal of peak-to-baseline amplitude of 250 ms component （PBA250） in dorsolateral prefrontal cortex was common characteristic of hallucinatory-like and REM, and that hallucinatory-like and REM shared the equivalent modulatory orderliness of the PBA250 in dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. This result suggests that hallucinatory-like and REM share an equivalent electrophysiological modulatory in dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. Conclusion Our results reveal that emergence of the N250 in dorsolateral prefrontal cortex is an exclusive marker that may help to discern whether hallucinatory-like behaviors is exhibited, which suggests that dorsolateral prefrontal cortex may be the most pivotal region for exhibition of hallucinatory-like behaviors.

Patients with acute infectious respiratory illness may emit bio‐aerosols containing pathogens to infect susceptible hosts,including other patients and healthcare *** study aimed to design the pediatric isolation(PI)bed and evaluate its purification effect on aerosols and microorganisms in the air in experiment rooms and verify the general wards'purification *** PI bed is connected to a purification device that surrounds the child's head to prevent contaminants'spread into the *** test the purification effect of the PI bed in the experiment room and verified the purification effect of the PI bed in the *** results showed that PI beds in the demonstration ward presented purifying effects on both smoke particulates and microorganisms like Staphylococcus albus(***)and H1N1 *** Aerosol in the room in the hospital was then detected to validity the purification ***,Isolation beds could be used in hospitals to reduce the risk of nosocomial infection to protect the health of doctors,patients,and visitors.

Previous studies have shown that low platelet count combined with high plasma total homocysteine(tHcy)increased stroke risk and can be lowered by 73% with folic ***,the combined role of other platelet activation parameters and the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR)C677T genotypes on stroke risk and folic acid treatment benefit remain to be *** study aimed to investigate if platelet activation parameters and MTHFR genotypes jointly impact folic acid treatment efficacy in first stroke *** were derived from the China Stroke Primary Prevention *** study includes a total of 11,185 adult hypertensive patients with relevant platelet activation parameters and MTHFR genotype *** simultaneously considering both platelet activation parameters(plateletcrit,platelet count,mean platelet volume,platelet distribution width)and MTHFR genotypes,patients with both low plateletcrit(Q1)and the TT genotype had the highest stroke incidence rate(5.6%)in the enalapril *** subgroup significantly benefited from folic acid treatment,with a 66% reduction in first stroke(HR:0.34;95%CI:0.14-0.82;p=0.016).Consistently,the subgroup with low plateletcrit(Q1)and the CC/CT genotype also benefited from folic acid treatment(HR:0.40;95%CI:0.23-0.70;p=0.001).In Chinese hypertensive adults,low plateletcrit can identify those who may greatly benefit from folic acid treatment,in particular,those with the TT genotype,a subpopulation known to have the highest stroke risk.

Aging biomarkers are a combination of biological parameters to(i)assess age-related changes,(ii)track the physiological aging process,and(iii)predict the transition into a pathological *** a broad spectrum of aging biomarkers has been developed,their potential uses and limitations remain poorly *** immediate goal of biomarkers is to help us answer the following three fundamental questions in aging research:How old are we?Why do we get old?And how can we age slower?This review aims to address this ***,we summarize our current knowledge of biomarkers developed for cellular,organ,and organismal levels of aging,comprising six pillars:physiological characteristics,medical imaging,histological features,cellular alterations,molecular changes,and secretory *** fulfill all these requisites,we propose that aging biomarkers should qualify for being specific,systemic,and clinically relevant.
