One of the likely methods for enhancing heat transfer in a latent thermal energy storage system is the conception of a thermal *** this study,the orientation of oval tubes(horizontal,vertical,and oblique)in phase change material(PCM,C_(19)-C_(20))-based shell-tube heat exchanger was analyzed with respect to the metal foam(MF)type(graphite,copper,and nickel)in comparison to the case of pure *** this purpose,a two-dimensional mathematical model was developed to investigate the thermal efficiency of the PCM-metal foam based composite energy storage *** was concluded that the orientation of the oval tubes(oblique,horizontal,and vertical)has a negligible impact on the performance of the thermal unit during the melting/solidification *** on the liquid/solid fraction,total enthalpy and the average temperature in the annular space,the performance of a heat exchanger during fusion/solidification periods is in the order:copper-MF>graphite-MF>nickel-MF>pure *** the adopted MF or the geometry of tubes,the melting process is expedited compared to the solidification mechanism.

An advanced ANSYS FLUENT-based model was developed for hydrogen recovery from a multi-tubular fixed-bed metal hydride(MH)reactor of large-scale *** model was firstly validated by comparing its results to specific experimental *** and heat transfer processes inside the fixed bed were investigated for various pressures and thermochemical characteristics of the MH(thermal conductivity,porosity and reaction parameters).The findings were reported as average,local and spatial changes in the metal’s bed temperature and hydrogen *** the initial stage of the endothermic desorption(t<100 s),the bed temperature dropped dramat-ically in all *** this time,there was a massive emission of *** bed temperature was then raised due to the reactor’s external convective heating,while the hydrogen release continued until the MH was completely *** dehydrogenation rate of the MH was enhanced when the discharge pressure was ***,some other characteristics of the MH,i.e.,porosity,thermal conductivity,desorption rate constant and activation energy,significantly impacted the resulting mass and heat fluxes inside the bed material.

Anticancer activity test of ethyl acetate extract of endophytic fungi isolated from soursop leaf(Annona muricata L.)

Objective: To analyze anticancer activity of an ethyl acetate extract of endophytic fungi isolated from soursop leaf(Annona muricata L.). Methods: Anticancer activity of fungal extracts was determined by observing its toxicity against MCF-7(Michigan Cancer Foundation-7) cells in vitro by using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay method. At an extract concentration of 100 μg/m L, 4 isolates out of 12 showed high activity against the cancer cell growth. The four isolates were then selected for further IC50 determination, by measuring the inhibition of cancer cell proliferation at extract concentration of 25 μg/m L, 50 μg/m L, 100 μg/m L, 200 μg/m L and 400 μg/m L. Results: Results showed that isolate Sir-G5 had the highest anticancer activity with an IC50 of 19.20 μg/m L. The best isolates were screened again using a normal cell(Chang cells) to determine its toxicity against normal cells. Results indicated that the extracts do not affect the proliferation of normal cells. Molecular identification showed that the fungal isolate Sir-G5 has a close relationship with Phomopsis sp. Conclusions: The endophytic fungi isolated from soursop leaf has the potential to be used as a source of anticancer agents.

The effects of interfacial strength on fractured microcapsule are investigated numerically. The interaction between crack and microcapsule embedded in mortar matrix is modeled based on cohesive approach. The microcapsules are modelled with variation of core-shell thickness ratio and potential cracks are represented by pre-inserted cohesive elements along the element boundaries of the mortar matrix, microcapsules core, microcapsule shell, and at the interfaces between these phases. Special attention is given to the effects of cohesive fracture on the microcapsule interface, namely fracture strength, on the load carrying capacity and fracture probability of the microcapsule. The effect of fracture properties on microcapsule is found to be significant factor on the load carrying capacity and crack propagation characteristics. Regardless of core-shell thickness ratio of microcapsule, the load carrying capacity of self-healing material under tension increases as interfacial strength of microcapsule shell increases. In addition, given the fixed fracture strength of the interface of microcapsule shell, the higher the ratio core-shell thickness, the higher the probability of microcapsules being fractured.

Finite element analysis is developed to simulate the breakage of capsule in capsule-based self-healing concrete.A 2D circular capsule with different core-shell thickness ratios embedded in the mortar matrix is analyzed numerically along with their interfacial transition ***-thickness cohesive elements are pre-inserted into solid elements to represent potential *** study focuses on the effects of mismatch fracture properties,namely fracture strength and energy,between capsule and mortar matrix into the breakage likelihood of the *** extensive simulations of 2D specimens under uniaxial tension were carried out to investigate the key features on the fracture patterns of the capsule and produce the fracture maps as the *** developed fracture maps of capsules present a simple but valuable tool to assist the experimentalists in designing appropriate capsule materials for self-healing concrete.

Objective: To investigate the proximate and mineral composition of the Piper retrofractum(P. retrofractum) vahl. Fruit and to evaluate its total alkaloids, phenol and flavonoid. Methods: The proximate composition of P. retrofractum fruit was ananlyzed using standard protocols according to Indonesian Standard and Association of Official Analytical Chemist. Meanwhile, mineral composition of the fruit was analyzed using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. Phytochemical screening and quantification were performed using standard protocols according to Harborn and spectrophotometric methods. Results: The results showed that P. retrofractum fruit contained carbohydrate(63.4%), crude protein(11.4%), total ash(4.29%), dietary fiber(28.8%) and total fat(2.97%). The fruit also contained calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphor, potassium, sodium and zinc in different concentrations. Additionally, quinone, sterol, glycosides and alkaloid were detected in both n-hexane and ethyl acetate extracts. Moreover, tannin was presented also in ethylacetate and methanol extracts. Meanwhile, methanol extract contained sterol, glycosides, flavones, tannin and alkaloid. The results also revealed that methanol extract of the fruit contained highest phenol compared to other extract. Finally, small quantity of flavonoid(0.060 0%±0.000 2%) was observed. Conclusions: The overall results show that P. retrofractum contains potential nutritional and phytochemicals values, which support their function for pharmaceutical purposes.

Objective:To study asymbiotic seed germination and mass propagation of Dendrobium lasianthera which is one of the endangered medicinal orchids using ***:The 14 weeks old hand pollinated seeds were sown on Vacin and Went(VW)solid medium supplemented with various concentrations of peptone(1,2,3 g/L) and without peptone which was used as control *** the 4,8,and 12 weeks after the seeds were sown,seed germination and shoot formation were *** evaluate the role of organic nutrient additives on subsequent shoot development and root formation,particular shoots with about 1 cm length contains 1–2 leaves obtained from the seeds germination was cultured on VW medium additives with different of organic nutrient:15% coconut water,2 g/L peptone,150 g/L banana homogenate,and without organic nutrient was used as *** 16 weeks of culture,the plantlet height,number of leaves,number of roots,leaf length and root length were ***:The supplementation of 2 g/L peptone in VW medium was proven to be suitable concentration for seed germination(100%) and shoot formation with 84.0% the protocorm development to phase 5(shoot).VW medium containing 15% coconut water was effectively improved the shoot development,with well developed roots and leaves compared to the other treatment and 95% of acclimatized plantlets ***:This protocol is an efficient way for the in vitro mass propagation of this Dendrobium lasianthera.
