Bamboo is a typical biological material widely growing in nature with excellent physical and mechanical *** is lightweight with high strength and *** naturally optimized bamboo structure,which has inspired global material scientists and engineers for decades,is significantly important for the bionic design of novel structural materials with ultra-light,ultra-strong,or ultra-tough and comprehensive *** literature on innovative composite materials and structural members inspired by bamboo are reviewed in this paper,and the research progress and prospects in this field are expounded in three ***,the structural characteristics of the bamboo wall layer along the thickness and height directions are described in terms of chemical composition,gradient structure,pore structure,and hollow structure with variable ***,this paper summarizes the research progress on new composite materials and structural components by applying bamboo’s structural features from the perspective of sustainability,designability,and ***,given the limitations of current research,the biomimetic scientific research on bamboo’s structural characteristics is prospected from the interpretation of bamboo structure,new bamboo-like materials,and structural design optimization perspectives,providing a reference for future research on biomimetic aspects of biomass.

Palladium-catalyzed vinylation of indoles with vinyl ethers via deoxygenative coupling

Indole is a promising heteroarene in many natural products and pharmaceuticals; therefore, various synthetic methods for indole functionalizations have arisen in recent years. Herein, we report a Pd-catalyzed deoxygenative coupling for the N-vinylation of indoles by employing vinyl ethers. The vinylated indoles could be readily prepared in good to excellent yields with N1-regioselectivity regardless of the electronic characteristics and substitution patterns of indole substrates. Some indole-based pharmaceutical molecules, such as gramine, evodiamine, rutaecarpine, and melatonine, are also successfully vinylated. Moreover, carbazoles and indazoles are shown to participate. Additionally, vinylated indole can readily transform into structurally interesting indole derivatives.

All-optical suppression on the impact of Sun outage in laser satellite communication systems by using a nonlinear semiconductor optical amplifier

We introduce an all-optical approach,optical parametric amplification(OPA)processor to suppress the impact of Sun outage in laser satellite communication systems,which is implemented by only one nonlinear semiconductor optical amplifier driven by both electrical and optical *** optimized OPA processor,with a current of 539 mA and a pump-to-signal ratio of 16 dB,could significantly improve the signal quality by 3.5 dB in experiments for the elevation angle of Sun radiation of 0 *** signal quality improvement is observed in the whole range of the elevation angle,confirming the effectiveness of the proposed OPA processor in the field of Sun radiation mitigation.

SnapshotPrune: A Novel Bitcoin-Based Protocol Toward Efficient Pruning and Fast Node Bootstrapping

Node synchronization is essential for the stability of the Bitcoin network. Critics have raised doubts about the ability of a new node to quickly and efficiently synchronize with the Bitcoin network and alleviate the storage pressure from existing full nodes to stockpile new data. basic pruning and other techniques have been explored to address these concerns but have been insufficient to reduce node synchronization delay and effectively suppress the growth of synchronized data. In this study, we propose SnapshotPrune, a novel pruning and synchronization protocol that achieves fast node bootstrapping in the Bitcoin blockchain. Real Bitcoin historical data are leveraged to measure the synchronization time and monitor the network traffic during node bootstrapping. The protocol requires data downloads that are 99.70% less than Bitcoin Core, 81% less than CoinPrune, and 60% less than SnapshotSave, thereby saving 97.23% of download time. Findings show that the proposed design enhances the storage efficiency and reduces the node synchronization delay compared with existing techniques. We hypothesize that the efficiency of this protocol increases with the block height.

Distributed Event-triggered Control for Frequency Restoration in Islanded Microgrids with Reduced Trigger Condition Checking

For islanded microgrids(MGs),distributed control is regarded as a preferred alternative to centralized control for the frequency restoration of ***,distributed control with successive communication restricts the efficiency and resilience of the control *** address this issue,this paper proposes a distributed event-triggered control strategy for the frequency secondary control in islanded *** proposed event-triggered control is Zeno behavior free and enables each DG to update and propagate its state to neighboring DGs only when a specific“event”occurs,which significantly reduces the communication *** with the existing event-triggered control,a trigger condition checking period of the proposed event-triggered control is provided to reduce the computation burden when checking the trigger ***,using the aperiodicity and intermittent properties of the communication,a simple detection principle is proposed to detect and isolate the compromised communication links in a timely and economic fashion,which improves the resilience of the system against FDI ***,the control effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is validated by the simulation results of the tests on an MG with 4 DGs.

A data-driven approach for predicting the fatigue life and failure mode of self-piercing rivet joints

In lightweight automotive vehicles,the application of self-piercing rivet(SPR)joints is becoming increasingly *** the importance of automotive service performance,the fatigue performance of SPR joints has received considerable ***,this study proposes a data-driven approach to predict the fatigue life and failure modes of SPR *** dataset comprises three specimen types:cross-tensile,cross-peel,and *** ensure data consistency,a finite element analysis was employed to convert the external loads of the different *** selection was implemented using various machine-learning algorithms to determine the model *** Gaussian process regression algorithm was used to predict fatigue life,and its performance was compared with different kernel functions commonly used in the *** results revealed that the Matern kernel exhibited an exceptional predictive capability for fatigue *** the data points,95.9%fell within the 3-fold error band,and the remaining 4.1%exceeded the 3-fold error band owing to inherent dispersion in the fatigue *** predict the failure location,various tree and artificial neural network(ANN)models were *** findings indicated that the ANN models slightly outperformed the tree *** ANN model accurately predicts the failure of joints with varying dimensions and ***,minor deviations were observed for the joints with the same ***,this data-driven approach provided a reliable predictive model for estimating the fatigue life and failure location of SPR joints.

This paper presents a new machine learning-based calibration framework for strength simulation models of self-piercing riveted(SPR)*** simulations were conducted through the integrated modeling of SPR joints from process to performance,while physical quasi-static tensile tests were performed on combinations of DP600 high-strength steel and 5754 aluminum alloy sheets under lap-shear loading conditions.A sensitivity study of the critical simulation parameters(e.g.,friction coefficient and scaling factor)was conducted using the controlled variables method and Sobol sensitivity analysis for feature ***,machine-learning-based surrogate models were used to train and accurately represent the mapping between the detailed joint profile and its load-displacement *** of the simulation model is defined as a dual-objective optimization task to minimize errors in key load displacement features between simulations and experiments.A multi-objective genetic algorithm(MOGA)was chosen for *** three combinations of SPR joints illustrated the effectiveness of the proposed framework,and good agreement was achieved between the calibrated models and experiments.

Polarizers have always been an important optical component for optical engineering and have played an indispensable part of polarization imaging *** polarizers provide an excellent platform to achieve miniaturization,high resolution,and low cost of polarization imaging ***,we proposed freeform metasurface polarizers derived by adjoint-based inverse design of a full-Jones matrix with gradient-descent *** designed multiple freeform polarizers with different filtered states of polarization(SOPs),including circular polarizers,elliptical polarizers,and linear polarizers that could cover the full Poincaré*** that near-unitary polarization dichroism and the ultrahigh polarization extinction ratio(ER)reaching 50 d B were achieved for optimized circular *** multiple freeform polarizers with filtered polarization state locating at four vertices of an inscribed regular tetrahedron of the Poincarésphere are designed to form a full-Stokes parameters micropolarizer *** work provides a novel approach,we believe,for the design of meta-polarizers that may have potential applications in polarization imaging,polarization detection,and communication.

Strategies to improve T cell therapy efficacy in solid tumors such as hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)are urgently *** common cytokine receptorγchain(γc)family cytokines such as IL-2,IL-7,IL-15 and IL-21 play fundamental roles in T cell development,differentiation and effector *** study aims to determine the combination effects of IL-21 in T cell therapy against HCC and investigate optimized strategies to utilize the effect of IL-21 signal in T cell *** antitumor function of AFP-specific T cell receptor-engineered T cells(TCR-T)was augmented by exogenous IL-21 in vitro and in ***-21 enhanced proliferation capacity,promoted memory differentiation,downregulated PD-1 expression and alleviated apoptosis in TCR-T after activation.A novel engineered IL-21 receptor was established,and TCR-T armed with the novel engineered IL-21 receptors(IL-21R-TCR-T)showed upregulated phosphorylated STAT3 expression without exogenous IL-21 ***-21R-TCR-T showed better proliferation upon activation and superior antitumor function in vitro and in ***-21R-TCR-T exhibited a less differentiated,exhausted and apoptotic phenotype than conventional TCR-T upon repetitive tumor antigen *** novel IL-21 receptor in our study programs powerful TCR-T and can avoid side effects induced by IL-21 systemic *** novel IL-21 receptor creates new opportunities for next-generation TCR-T against HCC.
